Chapter 4 : The Blazering School

Chapter 4 : The Blazering School

After 1 year of training with my father and learning how to better control my ability (meaning using it for more than 1 minute without passing out after that), my parents started discussing whether to bring me to a teacher to help me with my training because they said my talent needed proper guidance.

My pride wanted more of this praise, but until now my training consisted only of dodging sword swings, exercising hand-to-hand combat, and meditating. One might say this is more than enough for a 5-year-old kid, but I want more. I want to get more powerful and be able to enter the Hunter Academy and protect the world from the monsters coming from portals and other threats, being feared even by the fiercest monsters.

In my world I worked hard to be able to protect the people and now I will do the same, and also I will find what was those memories from my first moments of life were about.

After my parents talked, they told me about the teacher and moving to another city, and I accepted it.

“Son, if you want that badly to go, why don't you show us how much your power increased in this year of training by hitting the willow tree with all your power and see whether you are ready or not for this training”.

“Ryan, what are you thinking over there, you can't make Lucas hit a tree that is over 100 years old with a shell as hard as steel”.

“Don't worry, he will be fine, son, you can start when you are ready.”

“Okay, dad!!”

“And Rose, between us, he can't possibly inflict so much damage on that big of a... *Bang... Swish*”.

In other words, I punched the tree from 5 metres away, put a hole through it, and brought him down in one hit (maybe with that, my parents will never doubt my power).

“There is no way… how did he do that to the tree, and from this distance? Don't tell me… it can't be.”

“HE IS AN ELEMENTAL!?” My parents shouted at the same time. Probably being an elemental on top of the ability is an outstanding thing maybe it's something like mana from my world (Ha, to be expected from a genius like me). But to be honest, all I've done is hit the tree with all my might. At first, I activated my ability, and after that, I poured soul power into my muscles, and I hit, or better said, obliterated, that tree.

“Oh my god... That was wonderful, Lucas. You realized what you had just done, you are an elemental on top of being a combat-type ability user, a wind elemental. Son, with the power you have and being trained properly, you can become a hunter.”

“No… Don't you even think about it, being a hunter is way too dangerous, he might get hurt!”

“Honey, his power is what is dangerous here, and about being hurt, he can get hurt by cutting potatoes, plus the fact that he has a combat-type ability means that he has combat prowess in his DNA. All that together results in the fact that he will be a fighter, no matter how you look at it.”

My parents argued for a few minutes, my father bringing arguments about me being a good hunter and my mom denying all of them, but hopefully, they reached a compromise, saying that we would decide after seeing what the teacher says after I train with him.

The next day, we packed up everything, and started going to the capital city, Zorynyl.

The journey to the city took two days, but for me, it finished in a flash. I was eager to see what my mentor would teach me and what heights I would be able to climb.

When we got out of the train (which was powered by soul energy from small animals), apparently the teacher provided the families of his students with a house to live in while their children were being nurtured by him. But apart from that, the city was huge, I haven't seen something like this in the small city where I lived up until now. You can say this city can be compared with the cities in my old life, but without the skyscrapers.

Everything looked like an old type of city from our world. Houses covered with white marble and some gold ornaments, columns with motives, some rustic houses, some bigger than others, probably represent the status.

This whole decor was awe-inspiring. I was at a complete loss of words, most likely, my parents observed this because occasionally they chuckled to themselves. When we reached the mentor's house, which was built with something like dark oak and looked more like a mansion than a house, which was obvious given the fact that he was training kids here.

From what I heard from my parents discussion with themselves, this man was acknowledged by the Hunter Academy because they said he could give one of his students, probably the best, a recommendation letter to be accepted into the elite class of the academy.

When we reached the front door and were welcomed in by one of his servants, we finally reached his office, which was on the first floor on the right at a door where it was written above it, “Director Henry Blazering (so he gave himself the title of director, I hope he is not an arrogant guy), which is what I thought about him.

When we entered his office, he welcomed us with a greeting and a smile on his face. He was a man between 50 and 60 years old, and from looking into his brown eyes, I got the feeling that he was a knowledgeable person.

“Welcome to our humble school, I suppose this is the young lad I heard so much about?”

“Yes, Mr. Blazering, he is our boy Lucas, and if you have some questions that we didn't cover in the letter, feel free to ask us.”

“Oh, you don't need to be this formal, you can call me Henry. I don't have questions about his abilities or the fact that he is an elemental because I will gauge his abilities in a sparring match I will be having against him.”

(Wait a minute, what match? Nobody told me that… *sigh*… Whatever, let's get this over with)

“I have one more request to make, can you leave me to speak to the boy alone before we start the sparring match?”

“Sure, we will wait outside, you can call us when you are finished.” And with a bow, my parents walked out of the room, leaving me alone with the teacher.

“Lucas, I was able to sense great power from you. It looks like your soul power is much higher that a normal kid of your age, and looking at the fact that you possess a combat type ability and you are an elemental, I believe that with proper training you can become a great hunter.”

“Thank you… But may I ask you a question?”

“Sure, go ahead.”

“What does it mean to be an elemental? From my parents reaction, it seems it's something extraordinary, but I don't quite get what it is.”

“Well, I could give a long explanation, but to keep this short, it's the ability to control or manipulate elements. That means you can use elements such as water, fire, wind, earth, and much more, depending on your soul power.

There are pure elements and cursed elements, or dark arts. The elements you see in nature, like the ones I mentioned, are pure elements, and elements such as gravity, shadow, time, and others are dark arts or cursed elements that one can use depending on his cursed power, which is the opposite of pure energy. Those who can use dark arts are fewer than the others, but even so, such a person can have an advantage against a person who can't use them."

It seems like I was right, but it's more diversified from my world. I mean there we could only use primary elements, others being used with your sword power.

"Oh…okay… That's a little too much information to take at once, but I think I understood the general idea.”

“*chuckle*… Don't worry, you will have enough time to understand how this world works.”

When he said that, for a moment, I thought that he knew I was reincarnated, but I guess that’s me overreacting as usual.

“Is there anything you'd like to know about me?” I said

“No, I believe I have a good grasp on you, and I will get a general idea of your power after the match. Shall we go and do it?”

After that, we left his office, and we got to some sort of arena in his backyard, it was more like a circle with a 15-meter radius that was half a meter in the ground.

“Once the match starts, I want you to attack me with all you've got and use what you know to do best and everything you want, don't worry about anything, go all out.”

“Okay, understood…. Here we go”.

And with that, we started the duel that would change my fate.
