Chapter 65. Prove

Chapter 65. Prove

[World Quest]

[Seeking Knowledge]

[A month from now, people meeting the requirements will be allowed entry into the Tower of Guidance and be bestowed knowledge on how to walk the path leading towards ascendance]

[Requirements met]

[Do you wish to enter?]

[Yes/No]

I looked towards Chloe and she was already my way. We simply nodded and selected 'Yes', only to disappear from our spots.

And this planet.

I opened my eyes to see a wall. I stood in a circular room, with no door or window.

It was completely made of black bricks, I walked to the wall and knocked. It felt like tapping metal, the sound was deep and it gave the impression of being unbreakable.

I did not test that, wasting my energy right was a foolish decision. I waited for a few seconds, looking out for changes but that was not needed as the prompt informing me what I had to do appeared.

[Knowledge is a right. Fight, prove and that you are worthy, earn that right.]

[Climb the tower and its five floors.]

This did not feel right. 'Fight, prove and that you are worthy, earn that right.', this line makes me believe that I had to fight other humans. I preferred to fight monsters, purely acting upon instincts.

Bloodlust made them surrender. The fear it induced in monsters made them scared, and the ferociousness and unpredictable nature that had allowed them to survive was lost because of my skill.

People on the other hand could control their fear, more so during these times. A person who could win over his fear or could gain control over his instincts was a fighter in the truest essence.

Fortunately, my guess was proven wrong by the next pop-up.

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

[Kill a thousand F-goblins.]

Are goblins really this famous, or are they the hardest monsters to fight? Everywhere I go, I see goblins. Twice in the forests, and now, here.

A thousand though? If there were achievements, I would have been awarded a title called the exterminator or something similar.

The notification disappeared and it was replaced with goblins, the room could hold fifty at once and they ran towards me. But it was all in vain.

"[Bloodlust]"

It was the first time I called out a skill as I used it, and to be honest, It was freaking cool.

Like a ripple, an aura spread out, with me as the center and every goblin stopped moving. They froze on the spot and fell to their knees.

I now understood why kings in stories lost their minds after having so much power in their hands.

'This is intoxicating,'

I killed one goblin, and in some corner, another one appeared. Every time a goblin died another one appeared.

'but boring at the same time.'

'Finally,' I wanted to leave. This was so boring, killing these weak goblins. At one point even I felt pity, seeing them kneel and wait for death.

I had no idea if they were real or fake, but the bodies did not fade away after they died.

[Cleared the first floor.]

[Moving to the next floor in 15 mins]

[Do you wish to move now?]

[Yes/No]

It was obvious, I selected yes and moved up. I once again appeared in a similar room, circular with no windows or doors. But this time the opponents were different.

[Kill five hundred E-grade goblins.]

I sighed.

It was normal goblins earlier, and now there were armed goblins. Their numbers were reduced to half, but it did not make that much of a difference.

The history made a few minutes ago, repeated itself.

And I moved to the next floor.

[Kill two hundred and fifty D-grade goblins.]

This was the last floor I would be bored in because, after this, I will be fighting something stronger. The goblin chiefs and monsters with equivalent strength were beings I fought almost every day.

And they provided no challenge.

I still remembered the fight with the hobgoblin or the hundreds of ants. The hobgoblin was the strongest monster I had ever fought.

Even though the fight didn't last that long, every single cell of my body was focused. Same with the ants, their armors would not break easily and the only place I could attack was the small openings.

Blood started pumping through my veins.

'Is it time for warmup?'

[Cleared the third floor]

[Moving to the next floor in 60 mins]

[Do you wish to move now?]

[Yes/No]

I took a breather and checked my status because this floor had finally pushed me to level 50.

Another notification appeared.

[Blood Mage: Class Advancement Available]

[Demon Fighter: Class Advancement Available]

When Arthur, Chloe, and the twins ranked up, it took 30 mins to complete the process. If my theory was correct and I ranked up both classes at the same time, it should be done in an hour.

But I did not do that.

Gathering more 'experience' or energy that was required than the amount needed in during the first rank-up helped me achieve a perfectly tempered body. If there was something similar in the second rank up,

I did not want to miss it.

At last, a decision was made, I chose not to rank up. The next boss should be a half ascended beast, if I did not know this class existed I would have ranked up.

One floor and then I could rank up, just one more.
