Chapter 46. Time
"I already expected that when he killed a whole bunch of Syndicate men. Not being connected to any one of the Six or their branches. I knew what I was getting into when I signed up."
'One man that's all I needed,' A slight grin spread across my face as he fetched out his Insignia and handed it over.
One by one people came forward and started giving up their insignias. Every one that did so was able to go inside and waited with Arthur.
"I don't mind you not surrendering that emblem, but everything has consequences. Remember that." And now the finale, the threat.
I turned was started walking towards the entrance, when it happened.
"Wait," I was stopped. "If you think a little, it doesn't sound that bad of a deal, right guys?" He looked around and made eye contact with the other three people that were hesitating.
"Yeah, it does sound good."
They agreed one by hand and handed me their Insignia. There was something fishy going on here, but I didn't stop them.
'As they say, keep your friends close and enemies closer.'
"Arthur, break one of those eggs with your sword and read out the notification."
He brought out his sword and popped open the eggs. He was surprised but hid it well, he too was slowly learning to hide his expressions leaving wondering.
But he still needed time, there would be others who would find that slight fluctuation if I was able to.
And now it was my turn to mask my expressions because instead of reading it out loud Arthur straight up displayed that notification to everyone.
'You can do that? I really have to learn about The Records.'
"As you can see that harmless egg gives you experience when you break it, similar to when you kill a normal monster. Break them until you reach level 15 and then you rank up to a fighting class.
A warrior, archer, tank anything is fine if it's a fighting class," I said.
"Now start!"
It got over fast and after they reached level 15, I pointed them to go into the queen's room, now cleaned up. I told them to wait until everyone was there and then start the process.
Once all of them were settled down, they started the process.
The wind started blowing, a gentle breeze at first, and then it picked up speed. The Mana was acting up.
"Observe Arthur, feel the mana, it will help you," I said looking towards Arthur, but he already was trying to get a feel of this active flowing mana.
He had his eyes closed and his body completely relaxed.
The mana then was slowly absorbed by those ranking up. I think this is where the perfectly tempered body came into play.
When I went through the process every single part of my body gobbled up the mana equally and in large quantities, but for these people there were some inequalities.
For some their arms were focused, but for some, it was their legs. It was distributed or absorbed unequally to say. 'Probably according to how they focused their stat distribution.'
Slowly people opened their eyes and stared into space looking at their status. It was a fascinating thing, ranking up and feeling that difference in power.
The difference in quality, you couldn't describe that.
"Show me your class, just the class part and in a few days, you'll get your armors. Weapons will take time."
They were brought out of their thoughts after hearing my voice and slowly started to stand up. They came up and I could only see the class part in their status, so it was possible to just show a specific part too.
"Okay, now we go back. From tomorrow you start going to the forest and clear up the nearby monsters. I'll brief in the morning, so gather up near the tents. Rest up today."
"Yes Sir!" There was a loud reply, everyone was excited by this situation.
"And be on time, you don't want to know when you're not."
And they gulped, now scared too.
The next two days were smooth, we had more people so the clearing range was increased by a lot. I took the kids a little deeper so they could accumulate energy faster.
And now after two days of constant killing, they were finally full.
"You all excited?" I asked as I brought them into the forest.
"Yes!" They were.
"Choose the class that suits you the best. You are the one that will be using that class, pick one that describes you or is in line with your intentions."
They just nodded their heads and sat down in a comfortable position.
Arthur, Luke, and Lucy had worked hard for this day. I knew their hard work would pay well, but I still felt nervous. Once again the wind picked up.
It was stronger than the one that occurred during the group rank-up. These three needed more mana than that of thirty people altogether.
'Tempering does make a difference,' every part of their body was devouring mana like a hungry beast. This formed a small cyclone around them.
It was a good choice to do this in the forest, or we would have uprooted most of the tents we set up.
This was longer than what happened for the army, the mana was being shoved into their body but in a harmonious manner. A black smoke thingy came out of their body and diffused into the air, never to be seen again.
They slowly opened their eyes and checked their status. Suddenly Lucy got up and hugged me, Luke and even Arthur joined in.
"So which classes did you get?" I asked not being able to handle all of this... This.
"I got Mage," Luke said with a smile. He was really good with mana, practically being able to see it.
"A Knight," Arthur was really going with the 'King Arthur,' theme.
"I, uh, a Brawler," this did raise my eyebrows. It was a class where you had to get really close and hit people or monsters with your fist. Lucy was a soft girl, her taking this sight did come as a surprise.
"I did a lot of thinking after that 'test' and I knew that there was no avoiding hitting people. I am still not ready to kill but I want to be prepared if that time comes."
Everyone was maturing, progressing in their own way.
