Chapter 6. Prepare*

Chapter 6. Prepare*

Chapter 6. Prepare*

This did appear too good to be true, a reward and no punishment. The reward was something like a regeneration potion and a growth weapon, growth weapons were always overpowered in games and something like a regeneration potion was a fantasy.

I clicked [Accept] as I was already going to kill the armed or now known as E grade goblins, what was a chief added to that.

'I was so wrong, so fucking wrong.'

I found a settlement at the center of the dome, dead center. It was like the dome was built around the super small village, not the other way around. And after reaching the village, I knew why it was so.

You could see a huge hulking figure near the grandest hut. 'Goblin chiefs were supposed to be old and scrawny protected by the other goblins but what was this thing. Half a meter taller than me and bulkier too.'

I had just started to observe it when the goblin suddenly turned towards me, not exactly looking at me but in the same general direction.

I hid behind the tree and stayed frozen for a total of fifteen and ran the next second not even looking back, stopping only after reaching the pond and panting to catch my breath.

I can't beat that chief at least not in my current condition. Only one thing remained, as I walked towards the dome. I had reached fifteen, that was the 'goal' that this system had given me.

I should be able to leave the dome now, but it was blocked, I couldn't pass through. There was one prompt that greeted me that was not there last time.

[Hidden quest not completed]

"Fuck you system or whatever you are called," Fighting did give me a rush but the only thing that would happen if I went there as I was now, was to be massacred. And the one being killed was me not the chief.

I needed to get stronger and the only thing that came to me was a training arc. There were no teachers nor did I know any training methods, what I did know was how to fight.

This was nerve-racking, maybe even foolish, no it was foolish. I was standing in front of a goblin with no weapons and with my eyes closed, yes with my closed.

This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

I was trying to train my perception and it was working. Every time the goblin came near me, I felt a tingle at the place where an attack would land and I would move away.

Having no progress at all I added another goblin to the equation. Remember these were the F grade goblins(unarmed), not the E grade ones(armed).

The other goblin made avoiding the attacks more complex. I also started to punch or kick them as soon as they missed their attack. After getting comfortable I added another goblin.

I tried to maximize and use each and every sense that I had. As I was focusing I felt something moving within me. It felt like blood, but there was something else that moved with it.

I kept focusing on the feeling and tried to move it more and more. My body felt stronger, and faster, and suddenly there were no attacks coming my way. I kept moving my arms, feet, my body.

At one point even my two hatchets came out as they flowed in a rhythm with my body. Everything felt in sync as the noise of the hatchets ripping the air spread out. I kept going on and at some point, I lost track of time.

The hatchet was a weapon mostly used to cut or chop but an axe used in battle was different and that difference started to appear on the hatchet as I went on.

The curve on the handle increased in an S shape, and the edge enlargened. It looked more like a Viking's one-handed battle axe than a woodcutters hatchet.

The slashes that cut through the air started to leave red, almost crimson trails behind them. The dance I performed in trance went on until was dead tired and fully out of the juice that kept my body working.

I breathed in and breathed out as I looked up at the sky.

It was morning, I had started at noon after checking out the chief and forming a stupid plan which worked out wonderfully. I did not know what happened to me but even after the continuous 'dance' that I did. all night long, I felt refreshed.

I checked the notification and was overwhelmed by the sheer amount that appeared before me.

One point went to each Strength and Agility, and two went to Endurance. No particular reason but they looked better rounded out like that. The increase to each stat was five points if ten was the starting point except perception which was originally at fifteen but still gained another five.

Intelligence and Wisdom also gained five each mainly because of mana circulation and they did bring some changes. I could feel mana moving in my body and to a certain extent, I could move it to my arm or my legs to give them a small boost.

I could also feel mana around me like a sixth sense but it all felt foggy and unclear, hard to make sense of but it was there.

I had many learned many skills and one of them also was achieved not learned, but what is a better way to test them than in an actual fight.

So it was time to find some armed goblins.
