Chapter 3. Night*
I kept walking in a straight line, the forest would not be endless if I was asked to find a door. A few more miles later the forest opened up, I could see a big lake in the center of the clearing.
But I didn't run towards it, the reason being three goblins that stood near it.
The goblins were drinking water from the lake, not paying much attention to their surroundings. They were close to each other, if I tried to attack and perhaps even succeeded in killing one, there were two others to deal with.
I had to make them leave somehow. I tried waiting but they had no intention to leave as they sat down beside the bank, and it was slowly getting dark.
I would prefer fighting two in the daylight than fighting one in the dark, there were no lights in the forests and not enough time for me to gather the materials and start a fire.
'This might work,' I picked up a stone and threw it away from me. It hit a tree and made some noise, enough for them to hear it. They immediately turned around, facing that direction.
I waited a couple of minutes and it appeared that they had no intention to come back because if they did they would've already come back by now.
So I inched closer and closer to the lake without making a sound. I finally reached it and was just about to take my first sip when I heard a very soft growl.
I clenched the sword by my side and turned around, swinging the sword with all my strength. I did not know if there was a goblin behind me but the growl felt so close that I did so anyway.
And thank me that I did. A goblin was an arms reach away from me and the sword had perfectly sliced its throat. It held its throat and fell, unable to even screech as life left its eyes.
There were two goblins behind it, their claws already extended and ready to attack me. I had two swords, so I threw one of them.
The second goblin was not far away and the sword hit its shoulder, I was aiming at the neck to finish it in one hit but my aim wasn't quite up there. It fell staggered a little while rushed past it, towards the last goblin.
I still had one sword with me.
The goblin swung its claws once it reached near me, but having expected that I stepped back. But expecting the attack and perfectly dodging it happened in mind, not in reality.
The claws slightly grazed my chest, but now was my only chance to strike it. The goblin was open, his arm still in that swing motion.
If I attacked now he would not be able to block the attack, I grit my teeth, stepped forward, and swung my sword.
The attack landed, cutting its neck. Blood poured like a waterfall, from its neck and mouth.
There was no screech or some final attack as retaliation, it simply flopped like a puppet after it had its strings cut.
Killed a Goblin. Experience gained]
[Bonus experience for being in a Trial Tower]
I heard the notification only once, meaning that the other two were still alive. The goblin with the sword inside its shoulder was slowly walking towards me, trying to remove the sword.
But it wasn't strong enough. Their claws were the deadliest weapon they were born with but they were not that strong physically. If you subtracted the claws from the equation they were just children.
This does not mean that I wanted to kill children, do not get me wrong.
The goblin that had sneaked up on me was still laying down, a pool of blood had formed around it. I killed both of them, neither being able to resist nor dodge my attacks.
I leveled up twice, it was already showing that one kill did not equal one level up. I took a deep breath and exhaled, everything felt like a dream but I knew it was not.
I was worried about my parents, Chris, the only person I could call a friend, but for now, I wanted to be a little selfish and wished that this was all real.
And if it was a dream I did not want it to end.
I got two points every level up, 'Vitality' which was previously at 12 was raised to 15 and I decided to save the last point. It was the only stat that I had increased till now and I wanted to see what it affected.
The change should be substantial, increasing by fifty percent.
I walked away from the lake and found a tree which I climbed up. This would be where I rest for the remainder of the night, I did not find food but after so many things happening in a day, there was not much of an appetite left.
I found a spot somewhat comfortable, rested my back against the tree, and went over the day. Appearing here, my first kill, fighting a group, and now I was sleeping on top of a tree.
That was not all I went through, in what ways I could improve, at which places did I make a mistake, everything was reviewed. I did not even notice when I fell asleep but there was a nice surprise waiting for me when I woke up.
[Learned 'Meditation']
I focused on the Meditation as doing that was what gave me information when I focused on Class, and that happened to be the correct choice.
[Meditation lvl 1]
[Staying in one place will recover health mana and stamina faster.]
It felt like the system wanted me to fight and get stronger, the reason was unknown but if that was my only chance at getting out of here I would do it. That was the only way I would survive.
