Author - I don't think some people properly read the last two chapters honestly. I clearly wrote that Athy said that he went to war and fought there. The most powerful Seer in the Draconian kingdom told him that. Why shouldn't he go to war if the most powerful damn seer told him to go and a letter of conscription came very soon aswell. Also... They weren't at Vivian's manor. Re-read chapter 6's ending.
Well, here you go. A new chapter. Don't start hating on this one aswell and writing a really small chapter of your own about all the faults of mine. One certain person of you barely pointed out the good parts that will progress the story...
Now... Action!
Also, this war arc will probably go on for a LOOONG time since this is where the MC's personality will be shaped. Nobody wants a strong MC who hasn't been in a real war with many bodies right?
Also, don't forget the Pro-Gamer title he has. Calm and Collected effect on him.
----------------------------------------
Me and Xavier reach the battlefield where we were sent.
I only notice about a thousand of armoured Draconian soldiers and about two thousand conscript-looking soldiers...
Xavier jumps off his horse and I do the same and we walk towards a huge tent with two heavily armoured draconian guards...
When we reach the tent a civilian comes out and Xavier hands him his horse and I do the same after grabbing my katana.
We enter the tent and I spot three general-like people sitting and looking at a map.
Xavier bows and so do I.
"Stand up. It's nice for you both to get here. Xavier and Colin Tyccus I think it was. The letter we got from the king told us you were coming." (General)
We stop bowing and stand up.
"Come. Sit. We were just discussing our tactics... We don't have enough men to defeat them all in a head-on fight so we need to start killing them without direct confrontation." (General)
We sit on the two chairs that were just placed for us by the assistants of the generals.
"You both have trained with Silan, our strongest warrior. That must mean you can also hold your own ground against enemies right?" (General)
"I can, but I don't know about Colin. He hasn't fought and trained with Silan for a long time." (Xavier)
The General leans forward and looks at me.
"True. He does seem weak. But there's something about him... It's like he is destined to become something great in the future. Also... Where are his horns, tail and scaley skin?" (General)
"He is not Draconian. An outsider. We found him on the outskirts of a forest and nowhere close to a village that has the same features as him." (Xavier)
"Ah... An unknown... Makes for excitement. Well, enough about that. Let us discuss our tactics..." (General)
The General and the probably two commanders or officers of the army lean in towards the map.
"If they come through the valley we could easily block their escape route with huge boulders and start smashing them with rocks from the front... But they probably won't go through there due to the limited walking space and the very dangerous situation there...
So the only place they would come from is... Here." (General)
He points to a place where a hill is and a lot of plains and forests and just a few kilometers away from a small mountain range.
"What if we set up a defensive location there? A fortification?" (Colin)
"We could do that... But they should have a lot better archers than us. We couldn't hit them before they whittle us to death with their arrows. They even might have a ballista or two as far as we know." (General)
We keep looking at the map for the best position we could fight in but there is nowhere except the valley where we could potentially whittle them down to a sizeable force that we could fight...
"Hmm... How about we use the Valley and circle around, cut off their supplies and start manuvering around them. There is a forest right here that we could hide in and attack them from." (Colin)
"Could potentially work but I don't think they'll just leave their supply chain unguarded." (General)
I notice a huge river behind the camp about fifty kilometers away... I quickly scan the entire river and notice only one single bridge over.
"General, how big is this river?" (Colin)
"It's about... Thirty five meters in size... Long enough for their archers to miss if we are on the elevated ground behind there..." (General)
"Then why don't we fortify that bridge? They need to cross it to get to us and there is no entrance from behind... And no escape aswell but we don't need to escape if we use proper tactics." (Colin)
If we are talking about a strategy game where you must defeat an enemy using limited resources this place would be perfect.
One entrance and exit. A long river that is big in both ways and elevated ground.
"It would work. We could shower them with arrows from above as they come over because they can't send their archers first...
We could also use some magic but we only have fifty of them." (General)
"I know a bit of magic." (Colin)
"A beginner warrior and mage? Colin, you are going down a path that is hard and unforgiving but rewarding if you go both warrior and mage." (General)
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
"But it is the path it seems I am taking." (Colin)
"Your choices. Also, Colin... This area could work very well. We shall set out immediatly!" (General)
The General stands up and orders the officers to go and tell the men where we are headed.
Me and Xavier go outside and we get our horses back and the general comes out aswell and jumps on his horse and signals us to come to him.
We ride behind the General and next to the officers or commanders of the army with the army walking behind us and even the conscripts seem to have a will of iron as I don't see even one of them slow down or look around nervously...
We ride for two days and we reach the bridge.
When we are about to cross it I notice something in the water... A river monster.
It swam underneath the bridge when I was crossing it and I panicked a little but kept my calm thanks to a strange but known ability. Pro-Gamer's Mind...
We cross the bridge and start setting up camp there.
I go near the river and look at it and I see it swimming past again and it comes by again but stops for a second and looks at me and then leaves...
I stand up and go to the General to tell of this creature in the water we could potentially use against our enemies for less casualties.
I enter the General's tent.
"General. I found out something... There is a monster living in the river. It swims past the bridge very often... Do you know anything about it? Could we use it to help us fight?" (Colin)
If based on strategy games that I absoloutely adored to play we could use that creature if they anger it somehow... Like missing arrows because of wind magic blowing them offcourse and into the water...
"Hmm... A monster in the river? There shouldn't be a living soul in the river. The river here is a treacherous place because you can't cross it without the bridge and when you try to swim you suddenly get pulled... down... Holy Dragon Mother... There is a damn monster in the river! Colin! You might've made a very important discovery!" (General)
Well... If people get pulled down it's damn obvious there's a monster down there. But why didn't they see it before and why is it circling underneath the bridge?
This damn world is confusing! There are barely any answers here...
I really need to get to a royal library to find out something about this world.
I walk out of the general's tent and look around and see the sun shining in the sky but I notice clouds of thunder approaching us...
Me, a pro-gamer... In another world. Fighting a war for draconians. One thing I would've never though of. And this is definetly real...
I pinch myself once to make it really official that this is real and I feel the pain.
After a while all the tents are set up and the soldiers are putting up wooden barricades from the wood they brought with them.
I help the soldiers carry the wooden logs to the edge of the spot we are entrenching ourselves on as I see the dark clouds approaching us.
Around three thousand Draconian soldiers against an unknown amount of men...
I look across the river and notice a horseman looking at us and then he runs off immediatly...
We were just scouted. They know our location but they are a little too late...
Almost at midnight we have completely entrenched ourselves and I notice we have a couple unused logs...
I signal some of the soldiers to come to me.
"I have a plan. A trap. We put the logs ontop of the hill and when it is needed we roll em down crushing the enemy and stopping them from advancing too fast. We just need something that can easily be pulled away but the log's weight won't crush it or push it out of the way." (Colin)
"Easily done. We'll have your trap ready in an hour or so." (Soldier)
The soldiers get to work as I see Xavier walking up to us.
"Heya Xavier." (Colin)
"Your tent is ready, Colin. You are sharing one with me. I see you are using a trap? Never seen a trap using full logs though.
I've seen spikefalls that send balls of spikes down a hill to absoloutely destroy movement of enemies but not this kind of trap.
It'll be fun to see this in action it seems." (Xavier)
"One of the more common traps I've learned about through games. A simple logfall. Well... We should get some rest. Also, a scout was here a while ago again. It seems they are looking at what we are doing here..." (Colin)
"I also saw them and the General did aswell. We are ready for them though." (Xavier)
"True." (Colin)
Me and Xavier go to our tent and fall asleep.
Tomorrow is going to be fun...
If I didn't have Gamer's Mind I would've gone insane under the pressure knowing that there were only three thousand of us.
Why did I come to this war?
Oh yeah... Athy's foreseeing ability. Defending the only home and connections I have in this new world. Potentially making a name for myself to get some popularity.
The three main reasons I came to fight...
Ah, well.. I'm here and I am not scared thanks to my title ability... I would be though...
I fall completely asleep soon after.
