Chapter 53. Hello There.

Chapter 53. Hello There.

I gather all my companions, who can fight the enemy based off of my estimation of the enemy levels, the morning of the attack so I can tell them my plan.

"I need you all to do me a favor. This favor might be the last one ever though. I am planning to charge straight through the enemy lines and meet the mastermind. I cannot allow myself to even use a sliver of mana since I don't know how powerful my enemy is.

And for that, I need your help today. I need you to form something like a spearhead around me until I get to the mastermind and then immediatly, I repeat IMMEDIATLY, get out. With everybody. Nobody must be near me when the battle starts.

Do you understand?" I say in a kind of harsh tone.

All of them nod since they understand how powerful our enemy might be.

"Good. Also, if it seems dangerous at any time then you must immediatly stop and run. You mustn't try to save me or try to get me further. Your lives are more important since I'll most likely survive but I am not so sure about the most of you. Never try to be a hero or help me more than your capabilities allow you to." I warn them as well, just in case.

--- A few hours later, near the enemy capital ---

I look at the place I must break into. Heavily fortified with high walls and seemingly two gates. The keep doesn't have a wall surrounding it so getting in there will be simpler. The path from the front gate to the keep is filled to the brim with enemy troops getting ready to meet us in combat. There are many side-streets which are empty but lead back to the main street quite fast.

"Sir! Everything is ready. The formation to get you to the keep is ready as well. The teams in charge of securing the escape routes are fully prepeared as well." One of the knight-messengers reports to me.

I nod to him and then look around me.

The formation to protect me is simple, my companions directly around me with the strongest near the outside and then around my companions is a thick formation of a mix of our strongest heaviest and light cavalry. Following the formation close by are our best horse archers which are limited in number.

Ontop of all of that, the mages are going to be exhausting every single point of mana they can to support us via support magic and forsake offensive capabilities completely.

"Assemble the formations! Get ready for the charge!" I shout and everybody immediatly starts busily moving.

All the cavalry forms a tight pack around me but all the infantry, regular archers and other foot soldiers move to defend the camp and the siege weapons.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

Once I confirm that everybody is in their positions, I shout out once more: "Release the volley!".

The instant my voice is heard, every siege weapon we took with us, shoots towards the enemy gates and towers.

Once the volley ends, the gate is essentially dust.´since even the enemy mages couldn't provide enough protection magic to defend it against the sheer power of the volley.

"Mages! Support magic!" I shout out once more and slowly but surely my entire formation gets buffed with different types of magic.

"Charge!" I shout out the last order and the entire formation begins moving.

In just a mere minute, we enter the city through the broken gate.

The front few rows of light cavalry suddenly swerve right, just as planned, and dissapear into the side-streets.

The rest of the formation crashes through the first few lines of the enemy with relative ease but I noticed something odd.

(These levels.... They're too low.)

Even with this feeling of unease, I keep charging forward and about fifteen minutes, we meet the last line of defense between us and the keep.

Our light cavalry suddenly re-appears from the side-streets and immediatly charges into the enemy from the side.

Many people fly but it wasn't the enemy, our troops fly magnificently through the sky.

The heavy cavalry meets the enemy and there are casualties from both sides this time.

(These... These are quite high leveled. It took about thirty out of our five hundred heavy cavalry to kill one of them whilst one of them could kill 20 of the cavalry with ease.)

After a few seconds of combat, which seemed like an eternity, a small little hole is formed in the enemy line and my companions and I immediatly run through it.

My companions stop and help out the heavy cavalry.

I keep charging forward to the keep.

(There was too little enemy resistance. I cannot imagine that anybody would leave their capital so undefended.)

I smash through the gate of the keep with pure power and jump off my horse, charging towards the throneroom.

Once I enter the throneroom through open gates, which was very suspicious, I saw it.

"Well... Hello there..." I say in a confused tone.

What I was looking at wasn't a living being. It was a mass. Just, a mass.

The mass of bodies lets out a ferocious scream towards me and suddenly the mass changes form into a humanoid version.

I quickly take a look at it through my status.

I stare at the screen and for the first time, I see a lot of unknowns and even an error.

(Its stats.... They are, at the minimum, three times mine except agility....)

"Indeed, Hello There." The being talks in a very coarse voice, so much that my ears in pain.

I can only think of one thing while looking at it:

(If I don't defeat this, nothing will. So what am I waiting for? It's time for the boss fight I've always dreamed of....)
