I reach the capital in a few days and immediatly after entering the throneroom, I start requesting for all sorts of papers to check our overall situation.
"Here are the papers for the trade lines that you requested." One of my servants hands me a pile of papers and I put them on the table next to me and start shifting through them.
(Some of these are quite useless... Why are we importing spearheads from this country, full spears from there and spear shafts from another? We are already creating our own spears anyways...)
"Hey you!" I shout to one of the maids walking past me.
"Yes!" She gets kind of startled at first but then bows down infront of me.
"Take these papers to the financial minister and tell him that I ordered these terminated." I hand a collection of papers to the maid and she immediatly runs off with an ecstatic look on her face.
In the distance I could hear her saying to herself: "The Emperor depended on me... This is a story I can tell everybody back home..."
I kept going through the various papers brought to me for hours non-stop.
In the end, I terminated most of the existing trade routes with countries as they were useless.
--- An hour later ---
"Emperor! What are you trying to do, making me clear almost all of our trade routes!" The financial minister runs in with the papers I sent over the course of the many hours.
"Simply getting rid of the useless baggage. We don't need all of that! Our country produces excess of those anyways based on these reports! Did you guys mess up importing and exporting somehow!? We were importing all of that not exporting! We were wasting resources! The quality of those spears are terrible compared to ours anyways!" I shout back at the financial minister and threw another bunch of papers in his face.
He looks at the papers in shock.
(The fool... Did he think I couldn't get my damn hands on the list of production of this country? What was he trying to do anyways? Illegally pocket spears or something?)
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
The financial minister started begging for mercy and tries to kiss my feet.
I kick him in his face and order the guards to lock him up and 'lose' the key.
(I thought I made it pretty damn clear that I won't accept failures like that...)
"I need a new financial minister. Get me one of the most renowned traders in the city, guardsman." I say to one of the patrolling guardsmen and he immediatly runs off to fulfill my wish.
(The guardsmen are useful, they don't even question what they need to do, they just do it.)
I sit down on my throne for another ten minutes before another bunch of papers appears infront of me.
"Here are the records of all our storehouses. It even includes the minor ones, just as you asked." A servant hands me the papers and I put them down on the table next to me and start going through them one at a time after dismissing the servant.
(Spears, spears and spears... Three major storehouses filled to the brim with damn spears. Well, at least we won't run out of things to throw. At least the other storehouses aren't purely spears and actually have something useful in them... Like swords which apparently nobody wanted to import massive quantities of. Or shields. Not even bows... Did the financial minister have a fetish for spears or something!?)
I look at the list of produced things again and notice we are creating quite a big quantitiy of swords and shields that are immediatly being sent to the front lines.
The bows are being created in a smaller quantity but also being transported to the front lines.
I look around and see a servant waiting for orders so I give him one.
"Servant!" I shout out and he immediatly comes forward.
"Tell the managers of these three storehouses to empty it of spears and to transport all of them to the front line. Here's three letters with the insignia on it if they don't listen." I hand the servant the things and then keep on going through the various papers.
--- Three days later ---
"Finally finished..." I sigh in relief as I finally sort through the endless amount of papers I wanted to go through.
(Everything should be in order now... We are importing only the resources we need and not excess... I've also gotten the storehouses sorted so they wouldn't be complete random messes... Our supply has been more organized as well. Yeah, this should be fine for now. This Empire really was holding on only because of it's army.)
I sigh as I stand up from the throne.
"I'm heading to the front lines! I hope you can manage the situation back here." I say and immediatly a few guardsmen start escorting me.
"There shall only be peace and order in the capital!" One of the guardsmen, who is staying to defend the capital, shouts back while saluting.
"Good." I say and head out of the castle keep.
The convoy of resources and my own personal carriages are ready and waiting just outside the castle walls.
(Everybody is already here... And I'm last again. Oh well...)
"Ok, let's go. I want to see the situation of the front line with my own eyes. The reports were too good to be true." I jump into the carriage made for the Emperor and the entire convoy starts heading out.
