284. Mike's Fight (I)

(Mike’s View)

Mike’s stomach twisted into knots. His gut instinct was telling him that something was terribly wrong. So far, Snow and Dairen have not come back. Even Mr. Rogers, Falcon, and Mr. Jay were completely immobilized, unable to fight back. The Demon King had invaded the city as his demons were causing death and destruction.

He had led a group through the charge into the castle.

Heart pounding, his sword sparkling with electricity.

Off in the distance, Mike saw the King being dragged by a group of demons.

Without thinking, he threw his electric sword straight at the demon that was holding the King. The sword flew true, smashing into the demon’s chest.

Electric sparks went off completely, shaking the whole body and burning the demon into crisp. Then, falling down dead, the other demon generals struck with a vicious vengeance.

Mike flew through, zipping through the generals like lightning. Flashes of electricity sparked off his feet.

He reached out, grabbing ahold of his sword. With a pull, the blade came out easily. He swung, lopping off one of the demon generals with one swing.

Rodney, Gilbert, and Audrey came along with Mike, helping each other as they fended off the other demons trying to overpower Mike.

Rodney sent out a powerful fireball, smashing into the demon general on the right. It threw the demon backward and into the pile of armor statues.

“Thanks!” Mike shouted. He kicked another demon on his left.

“Keep your eyes peeled to the front, Mike!” Gilbert swung his spear. Water bullets shot out of his spear every time he swung his spear. Five different water animals appeared around him: a bunny, a fox, a snake, a wasp, and a sparrow.

“Don’t worry about it. We got this.” Audrey's bear-like body and his shaggy beard chewed on a gum as he swung his ax. Upon impact, the ground shot up a flurry of earth blocks that smashed into a demon general. “Hurry up and go and stop the demon King! We’ll be right behind you!”

Mike nodded, he slipped through the broken doors, but the moment he stepped through, a frightening power of light flashed through the area. He was momentarily blinded as he couldn’t move any further.

Blinking, he tried to open his eyes. The number of times that he was getting blinded by light magic was constant today.

Suddenly, a powerful burst of dark magic rumbled through the whole room and out of the building.

Mike froze. His hair is rising.

The amount of dark energy pouring out from the throne room would have made anyone faint or frozen in place.

Boom!

The whole room shook.

What was happening? Mike was completely rattled. The power of the light had become thin and uneasy.

Swarms of dark energy pulsated with the mighty swell.

Quickly, stepping through the door, a large number of demons were turned to ash, leaving behind a pile of dust on the ground.

Looking around for an answer, Mike saw a hole in the back of the throne that was now gone.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

Running over, Mike tried to find an answer. There was something terribly wrong, and he could feel it.

The energy coming from the hole was eradicated, and dangerous as the fluctuations between dark and light were in a constant fight amongst each other. Every minute felt like an hour, and every step was heavy.

It was as if the whole room was stuck in-between time, slowing everything down.

Mike made it through the hole with gritted teeth and found himself seeing the Demon King manically sending out flashes of dark energy at the sacred tree.

The sacred fought back by placing a powerful light barrier around its own body. It hummed and glowed. Even the magical birds that looked like phoenixes swooped down from the sky, spreading holy flames at the Demon King.

Still, nothing was harming the Demon King. On the contrary, his power increased quickly over time.

One would have thought that the magic from the sacred tree would have demolished the Demon King, but it didn’t. Instead, the Demon King’s power was slowly overpowering it.

Cold chills ran up and down Mike’s back.

Dark magic was thick as fog, crawling on the floor.

The fog around the whole floor was densely covered in dark magic. It slowly rose up like the tiding sea, swallowing up any animals that were on the floor.

Death was imminent. Even the power from the sacred tree was quickly waning, making the Demon King even more potent than before.

Every step the Demon King made, the plants around him shriveled up. Finally, he headed straight toward the sacred tree and stopped.

Looking up, he folded his hand in front of him.

“So, this is the sacred tree.” The Demon King tilted his head. He raised up his hand and tried to place it on its giant trunk.

Static energy zapped the Demon King, causing him to flinch back. “You kept me here for too long.”

There weren’t many sacred trees in the dungeons, especially of this caliber. Most dungeons were too small to handle such enormous energy from a sacred tree that it would have been impossible to contain.

Something of such caliber needed a stronger dungeon.

“For two thousand years, I have been stuck in this wretched place.” The demon king placed his hand on his hips.

He glared at the tree.

The aura around the Demon King flared red and black.

“If you weren’t here, I would have conquered many worlds and made my kingdom one of the best in the universe.” The Demon King paused, “but your appearance made it that much more difficult. I assumed the Gods had a hand in this to keep me contained. No matter, that is all in the past. I have toiled for years to get to this point.”

The Demon King stepped back. He raised his energy and punched the very barrier walls.

The clash of light and dark was so strong that it shook the very dungeon itself.

“Is this all this tree can do?” The Demon King snorted at the feeble attempt of the Sacred Tree. Then, disappointed at the lack of resistance, he raised up his hand.

Powerful balls of black fire appeared around him like ghosts.

“Truly, a disappointment.” The Demon King replied. “I thought it would be a bit more difficult, but it doesn’t seem like it at all. No matter, everything's going to end.”

The Demon King smiled. He raised his hand up to his chin.

Suddenly, a blast of electric lightning smashed into the Demon King’s body from above.

The sudden attack jarred the Demon King, throwing him off guard and stunning him. An instinctual scream made him move out of the way.

Mike swung his blade, knocking the Demon King by the shoulder.

“Who?” The Demon King was charred but not terribly injured.

Mike didn’t answer. Instead, he flipped backward, getting out of harm's way. He was alone, fighting against the King that could flood the real world. Such thoughts pushed him forward.

“I said, who are you?” The Demon King was getting angry that he was being stopped by one measly human.

“What does it matter?” Mike replied. “You will be dead before you leave here.”

Such words took the Demon King off guard. He pulled back his head and laughed hard.

Mike didn’t stop and allow the Demon King to continue laughing. Instead, he struck, slashing the electric sword at the Demon King.

The Demon King avoided the attack over and over again as he continued to laugh even more.

Mike gritted his teeth and shouted. “Electric Snake!”

Shooting out of his swords was electricity that zipped through the air and at the Demon King. It coiled around the Demon King’s feet and hands, immobilizing him in place.

The sudden entrapment had caused the Demon King to stop laughing. Instead, he went silent, looking at the magical entertainment that Mike had done.

“Not too bad.” The Demon King replied. “It’s a bit of an improvement from most of the humans that I have fought.”

Looking back at Mike, he spoke, “You are a Player, aren’t you?”

Mike was shocked by what the Demon King had said. “Only the gods would dare to intervene in such a foolish attempt.”

The Demon King grabbed the lightning chains. “A fool’s wish.”

Powerful dark energy sparked out of the Demon King’s hand, but before he could break the chain, a black sword penetrated from his back through the chest.

Shocked by the sudden pain, he looked down.

“Who?” The Demon King was baffled that he got injured. Then a burst of greenish-black energy sparkled out from the Demon King’s chest. Then, with a painful scream, the Demon King burst into green flames as he fell onto his knees.

Mike was shocked and confused.

Out of the corner of darkness, a shadow emerged.

“Well, that was easier than I thought.” Levian’s voice spoke up with a pleasant smile.
