126. Mike's Greed (III)

Mike's hand was swatted away by one of the two goblin mages. It had seen Mike reach over to steal away their orb, even though the second goblin mage was being overwhelmed.

Magic pulled around the goblin mage Mike could feel the air around him becoming dangerously hot. A massive number of fireballs were shot directly at Mike, Dairen, and all the surrounding skeletons. The skeletons were broken, but a few were still moving around. While Dairen and Mike were jumping around like jumping beans trying not to get caught up in the magical attack.

Quickly, Mike dashed forward, ducking under another fireball attack. This time, he swung upwards, cleaving the goblin mage in half, allowing him to escape.

Dairen tangoed with the final goblin mage unable to get close. Their dance was quick for a goblin mage, who buffed himself with magic.

Even the skeletons were quickly pushed back because of their weakness to magical attacks, frustrating Dairen even more and more.

Mike let Dairen fight the final goblin mage. Instead, he grabbed the magical orb, feeling a rapturous energy streaming into his hand. He was delighted at the power coursing in his veins, realizing how strong this magical item was.

The energy that was forming over the pirate ship was dissipating, breaking up the storm into a more manageable cloudy storm. Even the winds started to die down, allowing the airships to get back in much better control. A screen popped up for Mike to see. His eyes became wide, reading the message. His excitement bubbled at the thought of what he could possibly use it for.

Awed by the sudden change in form, he pinned it to his armor—a jolt of magic coarse through his veins, allowing him to summon up a powerful magic. From the last two dungeon raids, he was able to get many items for himself and his guild members.

The drop rate of rare items was pitiably low, but the carcasses from the monster parts were of high quality. They were able to increase their armor by leaps and bound and even able to concoct new potions that also increase their strength and magical ability. Mike was glad that he could snatch up a rare alchemist to join in his guild, knowing full well that there weren’t many, to begin with.

“I got it!” Mike had yelled, flagging Dairen, who also finished his attack that slay his opponent.

Dairen cleaned up his blade. He then stood up over the three dead goblin mages.

“Rise.” He commanded.

The three goblin corpses screeched, their bodies cackled in black flames, becoming an eerie scream.

Mike couldn’t help but flinch. Every time he watched Dairen summon up new monsters, he wanted to run. It was completely different from what Snow could do when resurrecting people, this sounded torturous to his ears.

Finally, a skeletal goblin mage with black flames stood in place. A thin layer of robe covered half of its body and head. Its eerie green eyes stared back as they kneeled to their master.

“Don’t you dare resurrect me back as a skeleton.” Mike jokingly had said, walking over towards Dairen.

Dairen brushed off Mike’s hands. “Don’t worry. You’ll be the first on my list to convert when you die.”

“What!?”

Dairen smirked, laughing at his friend.

“That’s not funny,” Mike whined. He was for sure thought that he would be converted into a monster for a moment, making him slightly tense up. “Your soul binding is too forceful, and it's with a guy.” He swooned at the thought of being tied to Dairen for his whole life.

“So?” Dairen gave him a look that told him that he didn’t care.

“I like girls.” Mike clenched his chest to feign his dilemma. “I would rather be chained to Snow.”

Dairen kicked him before he would say anything more.

Mike was viciously thrown forward as he stumbled. He caught himself before he fell over the edge. With a harumph, he glared at Dairen for his abuse.

“Don’t give me that face.” Dairen folded his arms. “I’ll tie you to an old man.”

Mike’s face drained. He wasn’t sure he liked that even more than being tied to Dairen. He didn’t want to jab at Dairen anymore. Instead, he silently stood in place, trying to divert the conversation away.

With the new addition of the three mages, Dairen had quickly swept up the raid without much trouble. The extra firepower of new bodies and the mage's abilities allowed them to sweep through the pirate ship with less resistance than before.

Even Angie was able to heal the rest of the Players, allowing them to not lose a single soul.

Mike and Dairen swept through the rest of the pirate ship, allowing them to find a treasure room inside the captain quarters.

“Hey, check this out.” Mike gleefully rubbed his hand together, excited at what they will find. So far, everything inside the pirate ship was useless, making it a big disappointment. He hoped that this was what he wanted.

Mike pulled open the metal door, opening up.

A sparkle of numerous golds, jewels, and a few rare items that he had never seen before radiated inside the room; each one of them gulped at the small mountain of treasures.

“We hit the jackpot.” Mike grinned. He reached over to pick up the three items in his hand.

The first one was a golden ring with small intricate layers of beautiful blue stones, while the second ring was dyed in black with red streaks of symbols dashed across the band. Finally, the third item was another pair of rings made of gold.

“What did you find?” Dairen came over, struck by their fortune.

“Here.” Mike tossed two rings, the Holy Relic of Darkness Ring and the Couple’s Ring to Dairen. “Make use of it. Her birthday is coming up.” He winked.

Confused at Mike’s words, until he realized who Mike was talking about. He blushed slightly red, coughing a few times, his hand wrapped around the rings.
