254. Three heads is better than one?

The howl was different from the rest. It had a deep chortle growl that would have made anyone freeze in fear. Off in the distance was a large black shadow that loomed in the darkness.

A three-headed giant dog stepped out. It wasn’t like any of the dogs that Snow has ever seen before, but she had heard it being mentioned in legends.

“Cerberus.” Mike hissed. “Aren’t we in for a treat?”

“It’s not that bad.” Levian rolled his eyes. He darted in, getting in the first blow.

The three ugly heads that were filled with scars snarled, baring its teeth. There was a rip in one of the right head's lips, giving it a lopsided grin. All of them snapped and growled, trying to get to Levian. Levian easily dodged the attack that came from above. He ducked under, slashing upward in a nasty arc that left an ugly cut.

Dairen followed after. His bow was out, firing rounds after rounds of arrows that left all three faces looking like porcupines. Even still, most of the arrows bounced off, telling him that he needed to put in some magical energy into his attack.

Mike snorted at Levian. He ran in and around the Cerberus. He sliced through the heel of the monster, causing it to stumble. “This is how you do it!” With a yell, he jumped up to grab the thin tail of the Cerberus.

The Cerberus swung its tail, trying to get Mike off. Mike held on tightly, hanging on its tail.

Snow darted in. Her blade, Black Widow, oozed with poison. It hummed in excitement at the thought of its blade sinking into its flesh. She could feel the excitement coursing through her veins as she pushed down upon the urges and tame its will.

Cerberus was engaged with the three, allowing her to dart in on its blindside. She ran in and jumped. Her blade over her head as she slashed into its tail.

Mike, who was holding on, his grip loosened as the tail thrashed back and forth. He fell onto the ground with a loud thunk.

The Cerberus, on the other hand, howled with pain. Its mouth snarled back, showing off its white pearly fangs. Breathing in deeply, its chest expanded.

“Retreat!” Snow shouted. She could feel the magical air around them was increasing drastically.

Everyone heard her, jumping or running back. They could all feel the air around them cackle with heat.

A blast of hot furnace fire splashed on the ground and all around them. Snow could feel the heat lick her very body. Her hand unconsciously went up as a magical barrier appeared before her, keeping the blast of energy at bay.

If she hadn't put up the shield with one wrong move, she would have been burnt alive.

“We got to do something about those heads!” Dairen yelled. He fired another arrow while he was running around it. The arrow was laced with dark energy as it embedded itself into the side of its body.

“It’s easier said than done,” Mike grumbled. He had a slight tan from the fire that lightly touched his body.

One of the three heads of the Cerberus snapped in the direction of Mike. It took in a deep breath and spat out a blast of electric energy explicitly aimed at him. The other two heads did the same thing, each one aimed directly at Dairen and Snow.

Snow knew that she couldn’t dodge this attack. It was way faster than the fire that came at her. She raised up her sword, allowing the electricity to snap and crackle on the blade. Black Widow groaned and hummed at the same time, telling her that it didn’t like what it ate.

With the electric energy all gathered in one spot, she slammed it into the ground, transferring it all around. The ground crackled and burst as pieces of the dirt flew up in the air, showering her.

The dirt temporarily blinded the Cerberus. Mike ran in. His sword behind him as he swung a wild horizontal arc. A powerful blast of electric attack scattered outward, smashing into the Cerberus side.

The Cerberus wobbled, but it still held its place. A deep cut was form, but just as quickly as it was there, a loud sound of its skin closing. Lava-like blood spilled out from its body, causing the ground to splatter with a loud hiss.

“Careful!” Mike shouted. “It's lava!”

The others heed his advice.

Levian had to do a flip backward to dodge a vicious bite that came down to take his legs out. His legs barely missed. He landed without any trouble as he back-peddled out of the way.

Balls of light energy started to glow all around Snow. It was quickly forming into her sword of lights. There weren’t just only a few; she was able to summon up over a hundred, dancing behind and over her.

When Snow pulled out her sword from the ground, the Sword of Light all pointed in the same direction. She ran in as the Sword of Lights followed.

Sensing the dangerous attack, the Cerberus inhaled deeply. An exhale of powerful swarms of energy was spat out from its mouth.

The Sword of Light sped forward.

Both Light magic and Fire magic clashed together, creating an explosion of light.

The first batch of Light Swords were obliterated, but it cleared a path for another that Snow had conjured up right behind it.

Many of the swords sliced into the Cerberus body, giving it a porcupine look. More lava blood slipped out from its wound, but the Cerberus still stood.

Snow jumped, using the sword of lights as stepping stones, she made her way to the top. Halfway in the air, she conjured up another group of Sword of Light. Both her and the swords fell and slashed onto its back.

With a roar, its mighty fire was sprayed all over the place.

Mike and Levian jumped back, getting away from being splattered with the blood. Large holes,

where the blood-soaked the ground, appeared as smoke rose up in that area.

“It’s injured!” Mike was dashing in and out. He was casting electric magic one after another. Each attack continued to leave an ugly cut that would take a bit longer to heal.

Snow held on tightly to her blade as she was thrown around like a ragdoll. Her hand gripped tightly, her expression serious. There was no room for mistakes.

The Cerberus reared up, exposing its belly.

Dairen took this chance to fire off his own magical arrows. It flew true, hitting the chest near its heart, over and over again. In total, seven bunched up in a group, making it look like a practice target.

Even still, the Cerberus didn’t fall down. Instead, it was enraged that it was being pushed back. It snorted, landing back on all four.

Snow pulled out her sword. She was able to balance on the Cerberus back before it buckled, throwing her back. She flipped in midair, landing perfectly on the ground as she created distance.

Levian’s sword morphed into ropes as it turned into a lasso. Quickly, he whirled it over his head, sending it straight toward the right head of the Cerberus.

The rope perfectly landed, grabbing the right head of the Cerberus.

“I got him!” Levian shouted. He drugged his heel into the ground. Magical energy snapped out from his rope, spitting out multiple anchors all around him into the ground.

Cerberus barked and was yanked back. His footing went underneath him as it crashed onto the ground.

Snow willed her magic. She shouted, “Holy Redemption,” blessing everyone that she chose. Everyone’s magic and physical power drastically increased, allowing them to move faster.

“That’s more like it!” Mike shouted with enthusiasm and glee. The magical power boosted his power. He jumped forward, weapon over his head. Lightning crackled with a dangerous thunder-like storm.

Even Snow could feel it from where she was.

With a vicious slash downward, Mike sliced the first of the three heads.

Lava blood spewed out from its decapitated body, creating a molten stream. Cerberus cried out in pain, struggling to get back up.

Dairen and Snow didn’t allow Cerberus to regain its footing. Dairen's power of darkness swirled around him. The demonic horn on his head sprouted out from his forehead. His armor turned even more bloody red and black as if lava was flowing out of his body. Claws grew as he rushed forward to the second head.

Snow matched pace with Dairen. Her magical flow in Black Widow glistened white and green. Black Widow excitedly coated the blade with its poison, knowing full well that its master would give it a meal that it would like.

Dairen and Snow each sliced or shredded the other two heads as it was sent flying up in the air.

With a loud thud, it fell to the ground.

“Nice teamwork!” Mike laughed. He hoisted his sword over his shoulder, giving them both a thumbs up.

“That wasn’t as bad as I thought.” Levian smiled. His rope turned back into a sword as he put it away.

“Yes, we should quickly get what we can and leave.” Snow said she was already next to the giant body to search for anything that they needed. When she found the dungeon core inside the Cerberus body, she raised her sword up and smashed it into pieces.

The dungeon groaned, telling them that it was collapsing.

“Seems like our princess has found what we needed,” Levian said pleasantly. “We should heed her advice and get out of here.

The others didn’t complain. They knew that the longer they stayed, they would become trapped inside the dungeon. Quickly, they took what they could and left to catch up with the others.

The rest of the dungeon's journey went smoothly as the monsters that were left were easy for the picking.
