“Congratulations,” Shiro says, clapping lightly. “You’ve won the fight.”
The man stared blankly at the girl, as if he was not registering her words. What win? What was he winning? How did he win?
“Oh geez, don’t look so bleary.” The girl’s lips curled up as she shook her head.
“…?!”
Finally, the man snapped out of his daze.
He stared at the girl, almost unbelieving.
“Shiro?! How?! Wh— I though you died!” The man tried to touch the girl, but as if they were in different planes of existence, his hand passed through her body.
He stared desolately at his hand.
“…Am I dead?” He asked the girl after a long pause.
“Yes.”
Shiro did not see the need to cover up the truth, so she simply told him outright.
“…I see.” The man said. He laughed emptily. “So I died…”
His head snapped back to the girl, “What happened to the world after I died?! Did I defeat the demon lord?!”
Shiro smiled wryly at Ryouta. “I told you, you won. The world has regained its peace, but this is just the beginning.”
“What do you mean?”
“Check your status.”
“…?” Ryouta did not understand why she wanted him to do so, but he complied anyway. He silently muttered the spell.

“What is this…”
Ryouta stared at his status, stunned.
“Congratulations on your ascension.” Shiro said. “Now, I shall guide you to where you belong.”
Shiro smiled, holding out her hand for him to take. He hesitantly placed his larger palm on her smaller ones. Surprisingly, this time he could feel her soft flesh on his palm.
Suddenly, a portal appeared before them.
“Come,” she gently tugged his hand, urging him to follow her into it.
Ryouta closed his eyes as he felt the unfamiliar feeling of passing through a portal. It felt as if he broke into a thin layer of gel that also gave him a slight sense of dizziness.
“Oh~ Welcome~”
“Welcome~”
“Wo~w~ So this is the [Successor]~”
“…Although he looks different, this feeling… is definitely Cyril!”
“Hey~ don’t tear up so suddenly; you’ll scare him~”
“I wonder if he remembers his past life~?”
“Eh~ that’s impossible~ He’s probably whitewashed enough to not remember his past life, right?”
Shiro shrugged at the person’s question, “there are some cases where people remembered their previous lives after reincarnating, but one can always check at the Library if one is curious.”
“Eh~ who’d go to that boring place~”
“Oka~y, that’s enough. You’re making Ryouta confused.” Shiro clapped her hands twice, gathering their attention.
Four gods stood before her; two males and two females.
Their faces carried smiles, highlighting their ethereally beautiful looks.
“Ryouta, from now on, you are one of the Domain Lords of this world. With you here, they can now evenly split the duties of maintaining the world with you. Learn well.” Shiro says, nodding towards the rest of the gods.
“I’m sure you have a lot of questions, but do take it slow, okay? There’s no need to rush. You have an eternity to find the answers.” Shiro smiled at the man. “Go,” she said. “Join them.”
Ryouta took a few steps forward, then looked back towards Shiro. “You’re not coming with me?”
Shiro laughed, “Now why would I do that? My work here is done. I don’t have any obligations to stay behind.”
A complicated gaze passed through Ryouta’s eyes. He felt that the Shiro in front of him was both familiar yet unfamiliar.
The Shiro he remembered was spoiled, mischievous, and utterly clingy towards him. But the one in front of him… Although she had the same face and the same smile, somehow… he felt as if she was detached. As if she was a stranger.
“Don’t look so glum, little one. I’m sure we’ll meet again, if given the chance.” Shiro blinked. Her eyes turned to gold as she met his complex gaze.
“We have paid the compensation, so that means we are not indebted to you, right, Airi?” One of the gods asked, eyes half-lidded.
“Mn. I won’t be petty and ask for more things. I’ll be going, now.”
“”See you~””
“See you~”
“Shiro, wait!” Seeing the girl fly away, Ryouta couldn’t help but call her.
Shiro/Airi looked back at the boy, but did not stop nor go back. She simply sent a smile towards him, then flew into another portal, finally leaving the world for good.
“Cheer up, youngling. Airi’s clones roam around everywhere. You’ll see her again if you go to the God Realm~”
“…”
Just like that, the story of the overpowered abandoned hero ends.
