Airi in a Thousand Worlds
Mystery and Enigma (5)

Mystery and Enigma (5)

A scene akin to something out of a sci-fi film was currently happening.

After successfully fertilizing the egg, it was then transferred to a machine that resembled those old-fashioned stoves, where the egg would be ‘cooked’ until it becomes a foetus, which it would then be transferred into a tank filled with the nutrient liquid. Once the baby completed its 9-months growth cycle, it would then be ‘born’.

Airi made the orb float in the air as her two accomplices watched in awe. As if it was invisible, the orb passed through the thick walls of the glass tank, directly entering it. The orb then began glowing as it merged with the baby inside the tank.

Just like magic.

Suddenly, the usually immobile baby began to move its limbs, just as a normal baby would while still inside their mother’s womb.

“!!!”

Fergus was startled. For months, the baby showed no signs of brain activity even after its brain was formed, almost as if it was brain dead, but now, it was fully active.

Airi smiled.

She was currently witnessing Enigma’s rebirth.

“Mystery, I think the baby is ready to come out,” says Fergus, his clammy hands flying across the monitor in haste.

Airi, whose nickname became ‘Mystery’—due to her rather mysterious and elusive identity—nodded furtively, her eyes staring at the baby unblinkingly.

Even if it was in an artificial setting, the birth of a life was still a birth; it was still beautiful and precious, as well as unforgettable.

The greenish liquid inside the tank began to drain.

The baby, suspended by all kinds of tubes and wires, began to fuss. If the glass hadn’t been so thick, one could probably hear the baby’s cries.

Slowly, the front opening of the glass tank opened, revealing the suspended baby to the outside air.

Mystery reached into the tank, her hand twitching slightly as the tubes and wirings detached itself gently from the baby. Without the support of the liquid or the wires, the baby would have fallen to the ground, but luckily Mystery quickly caught the baby into her arms.

Mystery began checking whether there was anything wrong with the baby using her divine sense. Seeing as there were no problems, she softly patted the baby’s back, coaxing him to sleep.

The baby, as if feeling relaxed in her arms, quickly fell asleep. Mystery lowered her eyes, a gentle smile on her face.

“Welcome back to the world, Enigma.”
