Flags Are Built Through the Efforts of the Cannon Fodder (20)

The first thing that Loki and Riel did after reaching Greywolf Village was look for their father.

Sieg who was already waiting for them in front of their house was petting Druuk. Once the twins saw him, they launched themselves into his arms, shrieking gleefully.

Sieg easily caught the both of them, a happy smile on his face.

“”We’re home~”” The two greeted cheerfully.

“Welcome home. Did you two have fun?”

“”Mn!””

Sieg brought the two inside, then kissed Leila who was standing by the door. “Going to Mimi’s? I’ll come with you.”

“You two,” He turned to the twins, “be good. We’ll be back in a bit.”

“”Okay~””

After settling the twins inside the house, Leila and Sieg made their way to Mimi’s house hand-in-hand.

“Give it to me; I’ll carry it for you.” Sieg stole the basket full of herbs from Leila, helping to carry it for her.

“Ah! You didn’t have to,” Leila pouted with a slight blush. “It wasn’t that heavy, anyways.”

“Yes, yes.” Sieg agreed with her words, but did not return the basket.

Leila bashfully bumped into Sieg’s side, but because she did not put much strength into it, Sieg barely stumbled. The physical distance between them became narrower as she leaned closer to Sieg, and the passers-by could even feel the flowery lovey-dovey aura that they were emitting.

“Peh!” Mimi spat as soon as she saw the couple nearing her clinic. “I’d appreciate it if you two don’t act so lovey-dovey in front of me.”

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

Leila giggled in response after hearing Mimi’s words. “What’s wrong, Mimi? I thought your husband is home?”

Mimi’s mood dampened further at the mention of her husband. “He has hay fever, so I have to take care of him.” She silently added, ‘I also wanted to be lovey-dovey like that stupid couple.’

“Pfft!” Sieg and Leila broke into soft chuckles, doing their best to keep it in in fear of offending the already moody woman.

Mimi glowered at the two, “So, are those the herbs? Thanks for helping me out, Leila.” She took the basket from Sieg, finally cracking a smile.

“It’s not a problem. I had a chance to take the kids out for a walk, too, so I should be the one thanking you instead.” Leila smiled, “they played well today.”

“That’s good.” Mimi nodded. Though she did not know about how hybrid children worked, most beastmen children start to become very active around 3 or 4 years old, and it might be harmful to their health if the children does not release their pent up energy.

“Speaking of which, it’s about time for Loki to learn how to hunt, huh?” Mimi commented.

“Ah, yes.” Sieg answered. “Since it’s his first time, I was thinking about taking it slow. Leila suggested to go on a picnic with the whole family, since she was afraid Riel might feel left out.”

“The first hunt, huh~ in the blink of an eye, your kids have gotten so big.” Mimi smiled wistfully.

“Your son too~ he was accepted into the Rantel Royal Academy, right~ how amazing~” Leila also smiled, thinking of Mimi’s son who had switched to become a student at the exclusive academy in the capital of Rantel, the only beastman nation in the world.

Mimi grinned proudly at Leila’s words, giggling happily.

Seeing that the woman’s mood has finally been lifted, the couple left.

Upon returning home, Leila and Sieg was greeted by a haphazard house. The two perpetrators were leaning against each other, back against the wall and a blanket laid messily on top of their heads, deep in sleep. Clearly, they had their fun.

Leila and Sieg exchanged glances, smiling helplessly.

Leila reached out for the fallen trinkets on the ground, giggling, “I’ll check the kitchen, so you handle the living room,” she instructed. Sieg could only nod, sighing in defeat. What happened to being good? It was a miscalculation on his part to simply leave the kids to their own devices. Of course, most of the fault probably lied in the older twin, Loki, that endless ball of energy.

Finished with cleaning up after their children, Leila and Sieg tucked Loki and Riel into bed without waking them up. Then, with all the chores done, they spent the evening together quietly.
