Chapter 14

This is the third day since the system arrived; yesterday was an experience that will stay with me for awhile.

I managed to hunt a lot of prey after that wake-up call, so today I might just focus on constructing the Orkling huts.

I tried to dig and made a trench shelter to check if I could somehow find a loophole, but it didn't work.

So, right now, I am digging and mounting 1/4 of the trunks, which are then buried, to create a wall in a circular structure. The hut was around 220 inches in diameter. It took a while to build the first hut because of Orkling problems.

When I was done constructing the hut, I made another wound on my palm, and for some reason my wounds are healing a lot faster than before. I applied pressure to my bleeding hand and made sure the blood dropped on the inside of the hut's soil.

It didn't take a while before a system notification showed up.

*Construction Condition Achieved*

*Would you like to use 70% of your vital energy to construct the Orkling Hut?*

*Y/N*

I stopped what I was doing and stared at a place where piles of water trunks and dried up rat meat were hanging near my chieftain hut. Before I started digging, I ate and drank to my heart's content.

"Yes," I muttered. It didn't take a second before an uncomfortable feeling came through.

My body became sluggish, my vision blurred, and I almost fell over.

"Damn, I hate this feeling."

*DING*

*Orkling Hut Constructed*

*Generating Orkling Constitution Trait*

*Please choose one of the following: Strength Ghok, Constitution Ghok, Agility Ghok, Ghok?*

"Huh?" I was surprised by the sudden options, but then again, the HUD did mention that it would provide some extra traits; I just didn't expect to be the one to choose.

I stared at the options for some time and decided to inspect their traits, if I could. It didn't take a few seconds, and some information showed up.

*DING*

*Strength Ghok: provides +2 Str and - 2 Int*

*Constitution Ghok: provides +2 Con and - 2 Int*

*Agility Ghok: provides +2 Agi and - 2 Int*

*Ghok?: Provides -3 Int*

"Uhmm, what?, -3 Int only, and nothing else?, Sigh. Strength or Constitution? Agility is a no-no for sure."

I thought for a while, and based on my experience, having strength would indeed make hunting a lot easier, but my species, the Orkling, already has an innate talent for raw strength. Although an additional +2 strength might seem like a lot, we're talking about normal Orklings here, and they are known for being stupid. There is also the - 2 Intelligence debuff from the spawn traits.

I have been fighting for my life ever since I got here, and it is indeed true that my Strength stats have indeed helped me survive and overcome tough battles, but my Constitution, this attribute, is the reason why I can afford to make a lot of mistakes and to learn from these mistakes that otherwise would have cost me my life if I had less Constitution stats than what I currently have.

"Sigh, I guess Constitution it is, but I should not totally disregard the Strength trait; maybe two (2) Constitution and one (1) Strength trait."

*DING*

*Constitution Ghok Trait Activate*

*23:59:59 until Orkling unit spawn*

*Spend 10% Vital Energy to instantly spawn unit*

"Well, this is surprising and unexpected. What is Vital Energy anyway? I am sure I could replenish it by eating and resting, but I have a feeling there is more to it than is shown."

*Continue Vital Energy transaction*

"Yes" I suddenly felt like all the air in my lungs was exhaling, like some dude just punched me in the stomach.

"Groans!"

"God, this feels uncomfortable; I fucking hate this feeling."

It didn't take long for the soil inside the Orkling Hut to start shaking, and it didn't take a while until a green hand popped out from the ground, followed by a green head, an ugly one at that.

The Orkling freed itself from the ground and stood in front of me. He looked at me in the eyes.

"Grok?" Said the Orkling, and he proceeded to choke on its saliva.

"laughs! "Oh my god, you're going to die."

Yep, this Orkling is as new as a newborn baby. Although its height is around 5.6 to 5.8 ft. It has the mind of an infant, and how do I know that? The system information gave it all.

*Host Horde*

Chieftain Horde: Lokie

Horde Bonus: None

Horde: 1

Horde Morale: 27%

A new system HUD showed up once the newly spawned Orkling tried to communicate with me. I checked the Horde information, and detailed information about the new Orkling showed up.

Name: none Class: None Race: Orkling Race Trait: Strong Muscle (inactive), Aggressive Instincts, Me No Dum Dum (inactive), Disciplined Constitution (Inactive), Clumsy Hands. Spawn Bonus: Constitution Ghok Trait (active) Stats: STR 11, AGI 7, CON 8+2, INT 5-2 Status: Infant State: 80% reduction on brain processing speed. Life Spawn: 190years (Human Years)

"Sigh... so now I have to feed this Orkling until it is mature enough to learn or think for itself. God, why are you giving me your toughest battles? I don't want them!"

"Ghroku?"

"Come, follow me; also, your name is, um, Ghuro? no, Gharo? no, Orkaa? Hmm... simple and easy to remember, Orkaa it is. Your name shall be Orkaa from now on."

I gestured for the Orkling to follow me as I walked to my hut to replenish the vital energy that I had just consumed.

"Water"

I held the water trunk, showed it to his face, and after that I raised it on top of my head and squeezed the branch with both of my arms as hard as I could. Water poured into my mouth.

"Water, Drink"

"Gruk! Gruk!"

Orkaa stood in front of me and nodded. 'I think he got that right' I thought.

So I passed him some water trunk and gestured for him to drink.

Orkaa firmly held the trunk I passed to him. Then he proceeds to show the trunk on my face.

"Ghutar"

He raised it on his head, and trying to imitate me, he tried.

As Orkaa squeezed the trunk, he slammed it on his face and proceeded to munch on it, eating the trunk.

"Ghutar, Ghutink"

Orkaa nodded in satisfaction.

"Uumm, some translations were lost, but the result was there, so I'll leave you to it."

I showed him how to start and make fire, but it was way too complicated for Orkaa.

Orkaa doesn't understand the concept of friction, and I would rather kill myself than teach him what friction is.

So, I showed him some of my prey. As I keep blabbering about what type of prey they were and how awesome I was to hunt them.

Orkaa just kept nodding. I decided to cook a meal for both of us and let him taste my exquisite dish.

"Grangle! Grangle!"

"Hehe, I know my cooking is the best, but don't choke and die on your first meal."

After we ate to our hearts' content, Orkaa stood on the other side of me and proceeded to execute his war cry and gestures.

"Goorkoo!"

Orkaa shouted as he took his fighting stance. I don't need the system to tell me what Orkaa is trying to do.

The way of the Orklings, a violent species that worships and follows the strong.

With how the system works, I knew this was going to happen.

Spawned Orklings won't be loyal to me; I have to prove it to them. I have to make them submit.

"Come!" In my fighting position, I provoked Orkaa into engaging me.

"Oraaaa!" Orkaa roared as he ran towards me; at the same time, his right arm fists were preparing to launch when in reach.

I locked on to Orkaa's incoming fist and dodged it by tilting my head sideways; at the same time, I launched my right fist, aiming at his left cheek, with love.

No Mercy!!!

Orkaa received my fist right on his cheek and staggered a bit. Orkaa tried to regain his balance, but ended up exposing his defenses, and I gladly took that opening.

">Power Strike!<"

+1 Loyalty

My left fist launched with feelings, aiming for his right cheek.

"Groo"

Orkaa groaned in pain as my left fist landed, but unfortunately for him, I had more love to give.

"I'm going to beat the crap out of loyalty out of you, Orkaa!"

After expressing my undying love and devotion, Orkaa, being beaten to a pulp but still standing, albeit weakly, gave me another opening to launch a body kick with affection.

">Power Strike!<"

+2 Loyalty

"Pukes" Orkaa puked some of the meat he ate a while ago once my kick landed. Unable to endure the pain, Orkaa stumbled down.

"This should be enough."

But who am I kidding? After all that, Orkaa, struggling and clearly in pain, still tried to stand up.

So I did what I thought was necessary: I held Orkaa on the ground and kept striking his green face until it turned purple, with care.

As I expressed my fatherly concern for Orkaa, it dawned on me.

'Do I have to keep doing this for every new spawned Orklings?' I thought.

">Power Strike!<"

Right now I could build three (3) Orkling huts, but what about in the future?

">Power Strike!<"

I am sure that as I upgrade my buildings, especially the Orkling huts, more Orklings can be spawned per day or more huts can be constructed.

">Power Strike!<"

This won't do; I have to find an efficient way to gain their loyalty. Just beating them up one at a time would be way too time-consuming.

'Hmm, fuck it, I will get there when I get there' I thought.

"Gook" Orkaa stopped responding.

"Huh?, Hey!" I think he's dead. "Poke," I think.
