You hold up your right hand, palm upwards. "On one hand, I believe the Deathwatch would appreciate the firepower of the Terra Incarnadine more than the Ordo Xenos, where subtly may be useful on occasion." You ignore a snort of amusement from Inquisitor Ironsides and lower your right hand. "This is offset by notably higher chance of a fatal misunderstanding, should a particularly, uhm, Zealous Deathwatch Marine take umbrage to her legion origins." Danus raises an eyebrow as you confirm that you know just how old the Terra Incarnadine's plasma drive is.
"Therefore, I will pledge myself, House Von Sebastion, and House Dannan to the Ordo Xenos in perpetuity."
Inquisitor Olaf raises an eyebrow. "The Navigator House Dannan? how can you speak for them?"
You rub your chin. "Because House Von Sebastion exercised a clause in its Warrant to create House Dannan from the ruins of House Saurlance, and because the entirety of house Dannan is currently in service to House Von Sebastion in one form or another.
Lord Pyrus tilts his head slightly. "Who exactly transferred from Saurlance to Dannan, and how?"
"Vir Saurlance married Morrigan Ni Dannan, and fathered a daughter with her. The Matriarch of House Saurlance tried to kidnap Vir and his daughter, who naturally objected strenuously. At that point Zheeves activated the clause and created House Dannan, with Vir as its Patriarch. Vir Changed his name from Saurlance to Dannan in the process, and Yasha also transferred across, to give House Dannan an actual Navigator."
Lord Pyrus stares at a point just above your head. "Tangled webs..."
Helheim all but whispers "wyrd upon wyrd..."
The Force Commander, Rubicon, Inquisitor Ironsides, and Danus are all looking between the two. Finally Lord Pyrus shakes himself, like a dog shedding water, before answering in hushed tones. "The Kania Incursion. Vir was the Beacon, Yasha the Guide."
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Helheim continues. "The Eldarim Incident. Morrigan was one of three survivors."
Inquisitor Ironsides perks up at this. "We, the Ordos that is, lost track of the other two. They were bridge crew, but we never figured out which ones. Now we have a lead."
You snort. "You have more than that. Simo Sorro, the Terra Incarnadine's Master of Ordinance, and Frank Hopkins, her Helmsmaster, are the other two survivors."
The force commander stands up. "This truly is a day for revelations, but there are a couple of procedural matters that should perhaps be taken care of at this time. Tristan Von Sebastion, are you prepared to pledge yourself and the Houses under your command to the Ordo Xenos of the Inquisition of the Imperium of Man?"
You rise to face him. "I am."
"Then I shalt witness your oaths. Come, let us take this to the Sanctum."
You swear your oath to the Ordo Xenos, in the person of Inquisitor Ironsides, before the Force Commander and the other members of his command squad, as well as a dozen other marines who had gathered in the Sanctum. For all of its weight and importance, the moment is marked by a singing stillness in the air. A sense that a truly momentous event has transpired, one that may come to shape the Galaxy at large.
Bearing your new badge of service; a small ivory skull amulet no bigger than your thumbnail, you lead Inquisitor Ironsides and the Force Commander back to your cutter for the flight back to the Terra Incarnadine.
Several hours later…
Upon returning to the Terra Incarnadine, you promptly call an Officer's meeting to discuss what to do with the Malignus Maximus. Your colony on Oasis can't properly go forward with a space hulk in the system, and the forces of the Imperium need to coordinate their efforts to end it. To that end, you also put in a call for Magos Rex and the senior officer of the Imperial Navy Squadron to attend.
Well, Inquisitor Ironsides puts in the call, with your ship as the meeting location. It will take everyone not aboard about a day to gather, but that does give you time to talk to someone if you want to.
