Chapter 62: Biomancy

Chapter 62: Biomancy

You turn to Ariavari, "unless you can help?"

Ariavari considers for a long, still moment. "I cannot guide your ship in her stead, but perhaps I can accelerate her healing. It is not without risks however."

You don't even have to think about your decision. "Yasha has a connection to the Terra Incarnadine, and is flat out the best Navigator I know. Do it."

Ariavari looks you dead in the eyes, "I must ask if this is what you want done. It is not without risks, serious ones, and I can make no Oath as to its outcome."

You return her gaze, "yes."

Ariavari maintains her gaze. You can feel the power building in the air, the hairs standing up along the back of your neck. "Thrice I must ask, is this your desire?"

An old fragment from a long abandoned text of old Terran myths floats into your mind. "Thrice I say, and done. It is my desire for you to heal Yasha Saurlance to the best of your ability."

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

Ariavari nods solemnly, before floating over to stand at the foot of Yasha's bed. Runes begin to glow in the air, encircling them both.

The Scarab lifts off of your chest to float at the head of Yasha's bead, hovering over her lips.

Ariavari's sing-song voice fills the air with a rolling tri-part Song. At first, you think it is echoing off the bulkheads, but the sound is to clean for that. As you listen more closely, it is clear that Ariavari is somehow singing all three parts of the Song at the same time.

The scarab dissolves into a steam of shining metal before vanishing through Yasha's lips.

The Song builds towards a crescendo. Yasha's back arches unnaturally far as she is lifted into the air above her bed. The life support equipment is pulled free of her flesh as the back of her head touches her heels.

Yasha settles back to the bed as the Song fades. Her wounds have stopped bleeding and scared over, taking on a faintly metallic shine.

The runes fade from the air. Ariavari settles to the ground and bows to you. "I will leave you to recover for now. We will meet again aboard the Terra Incarnadine, Wanderer."
