Chapter 47: Of Headaches and Mindbenders 2

You leave Elena at the bar and approach you guests, "Direwolf! and Lord Ironsides, I presume?"

Direwolf grins, and you wave him towards the bar to put his packages down. Olaf, returns your grin and holds his hand out, "Master Von Sebastion! Your reception is as grand as your reputation! Pardon me for not calling ahead, we just made port."

You take his hand, wrist to wrist as warriors do, "Not a problem! I assume you wanted to discuss that matter in private over a good glass of something strong?”

Olaf holds your wrist and nods, "yes, and the sooner the better."

You nod and extract your hand from his grasp to waive Mu'randa over, "Mu'randa here will lead you to the library. I'll be along as soon as I can let Morrigan and Vir know that they are on their own."

Olaf follows Mu'randa off, making what you hope to be innocent small talk. You find Vir, and let him know what's going on, and then head off after Olaf.

A few moments later...

You enter the library to find Olaf and Mu'randa discussing the virtues and vices of psykers over what looks to be strong wine. You pour yourself a glass and sit down with them.

Mu'randa nods at your entrance, but gets one last question in, "so there is no reliable and safe way to boost the range of an astropath?"

Olaf shakes his head, "it comes down to the inherent strength or weakness of the astropath in question, and Kudo is rather good. Ah, Master Von Sebastion, good of you to join us."

"But of course Inquisitor Ironsides. As to this expedition to HJG-1034, what support are you requesting?"

Olaf leans back and takes another sip, clearly buying time, "information, first and foremost. I understand you conducted a survey of the system recently?"

"Yes, a typical Hazards to Spacers survey. Is there anything in particular that you needed to know?"

"Was there any change in the station itself?"

You shrug, "we emerged too close to the station due to a warp storm, and salvaged some material from an incomplete ship to make repairs. We didn't board the station itself, so I have no idea what if anything may be aboard it."

Olaf shrugs, "so no pre-insertion intelligence for the Deathwatch then. As to the contract itself, I would appreciate having the Aegis along as an escort, to cover the Mavros while she inserts a team aboard the station."

You nod, "That can be arranged. My Enginseer Primus may also have a store of CATs for recon purposes, though he would need to land them aboard the station itself."

It is Olaf's turn to nod, "The support of your Enginseers would be appreciated, but any personnel would have to be under tight rein. no point in waking anything aboard that station before we are ready to retake it."

You pour yourself a glass of wine, "I might be able to scare up a few bodies for boarding parties, but you are right, the fewer the better."
