You ponder it for a long moment. Bartering with the Tau you shove to the back of your brain immediately. Any deal you would make would be horribly in their favor, and that just rubs you the wrong way. Not to mention the risk of them discovering Mu'randa's defection.
Likewise, another arrangement with Olaf feels risky. It feels like every time you have worked with him has resulted in you getting into a fight that was way above your paygrade. No way you are blindly signing up for more missions in the future for him or Lord Pyrus, much as you respect (and fear) them.
That leaves... "I think we can plan on salvaging the needed components. Tentatively plan for doing so from around the Kania Maw, unless a better opportunity comes up."
"Sounds good, Sir. I'll get back to work then."
"Alright. Let me know if you need anything, or if things are going wrong."
"Can do."
Six Months Later…
As Jace starts getting more and more of the core components online, more and more of the Terra Incarnadine's personality starts coming to the fore. Despite being pulled together from three or more ships, She is a grand old ship, tough as nails. But echoes of wherever her components were salvaged form still linger. If something goes wrong, it tends to be a tad more spectacular that you are used to from the Aegis. Fluid pumps don't just leak, the tend to blow a gasket and spray everywhere. Preventive maintenance turns up a few more components that need work. The rats in the bilges are just that little bit larger and smarter than elsewhere.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
Her main and maneuvering thrusters are an older pattern. They aren't as well-armored as modern designs, but they are much more responsive to the helm. To the point where the Terra Incarnadine, assisting in training maneuvers with a passing anti-piracy squadron, actually managed to keep up with and out turn the Light Cruisers of the squadron. The Commodore of the squadron was frankly astonished that such a large ship could keep up.
Zheeves has struck a goldmine with the Guard regiments that were mustering out. The veterans from the Boros Prime 394th has a bit of a stick up its collective ass, but that works well considering that they will be a part of the face that House Von Sebastion presents to the Imperium as part and parcel of its troubleshooting team. The Davin 22nd frontiersmen are a somewhat Pious lot, but remarkably tolerant of aliens if a few discreet inquiries are anything to go by. They will serve aboard the Terra Incarnadine well, and have already hammered out a good working relationship with the Dagdan crewmen.
In planetside news from Dagda, Morrigan is expecting her firstborn with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation. Anticipation for the continuation of her family and clan. Trepidation that something of her or Vir's past or abilities may show in the child. You still haven't given the second Brass Scarab to Yasha, unsure how it would interact with her Navigator Abilities. You are considering giving it to Morrigan instead, to help alleviate her fears, though you would have to explain where you got it, and how you know it works.
