Chapter 7: The Destruction of the World

Chapter 7: The Destruction of the World

A woman with a flowing white dress and shoulder length ginger hair stands on a rooftop besides another woman dressed in blue and red body armor, and who had blue and red hair to match. The two looked off into the distance of a poorly managed society, in stark contrast to the capital city.

"General Alania, has the disruption in the core of the planet gotten worse."

"I am afraid so Lady Kanna."

"How much so?"

"..."

"Do I need to repeat myself?"

"Lady Kanna, the world isn't stable. The capital has been draining the Sou out of this world and it won't last much longer."

Kanna, the woman in the white dress, sighed and continued staring off into the distance. The land they observed was a prefecture with great autonomy, practicing de facto independence from the capital. That being said, Kanna, the queen, had spent a sizeable amount of money on researching the damage done to the core of the world, causing the prefecture's economy to collapse.

"I order you to kill Zia."

"But Lady Kanna, Zia is the ruler of the most powerful country in this world, she has surveillance everywhere, and great power. I will surely die."

"Perhaps I shouldn't have ordered you to do such a mission, however Zia is plunging this entire world into chaos."

Kanna grabbed Alania's arm and teleported her to the research lab. There stood a man with his arms behind his back, as he stared into a colossal sphere are dark matter which acted as the core of the world.

"Zenel, is what General Alania told me true, that there is no way to reverse the damage done to the world?"

The man, named Zenel, didn't respond, instead he conitnued looking up at the sphere of energy with empty eyes.

"It can't be helped."

"I see. I suppose I have no choice then."

Kanna then turns around and looks at her hand before creating what appeared to be a hologram of the world itself.

"Lady Kanna, what is that?"

"The gods that created this world surely must have made other space-times, and ones parallel to this one."

"I do not understand."

"This ability is called dominion. I know for a fact Zia possesses this ability as well but refuses to use it, as it taps into other space-times and replaces the entire world with another. If done poorly, the entire world could be destroyed."

The general known as Alania backed away, not believing such an ability could exist. Kanna had never brought this up before, and it is common knowledge within this world that only the gods can control space and time.

"Do not do this Lady Kanna. I'm begging you. Do not defy the laws of nature set in place by the gods."

"The world will end either way so I must."

Without any delay, Kanna reached out to the hologram. This caused the world to shake and corrupt itself. The space-time Kanna had chosen must not have been compatible. Kanna looked down with a shameful expression.

"I apologize."

"LADY KANNA!"

Just as the world was about to corrupt completely, it went back to its original state. The core was even glowing brighter than ever causing Zenel to snap out of his emotionless trance.

"It... it's back. THE CORE IS BACK!"

General Alania, who's heart was beating extremely fast due to fear, looked at the core in disbelief.

"It worked, Lady Kanna."

Kanna was staring up at the core as well with her mouth agape. She could not believe it worked. The space-time was clearly incompatible with this one, yet the world was made anew.

As Kai and Sein were walking through an empty desert due to their car being rendered useless by the Phanarokh Thanatoshi, they felt the world shaking and corrupting as well, however when it stopped, Kai looked over to Sein with a confused expression.

"Did you feel that just now?"

"Yeah, what was that?"

"I have no clue."

Kai looked around, but there were no aggressors nearby, nor was there any explanation. He turned back to Sein and shrugged.

"Well, I guess we should just keep going.

"Yeah, I guess so."

As the space-time merged with the former one, the world was indeed on the verge of destruction, however the existence that was Kai reflected the effects of the incompatible space-time onto the space-time itself, causing it to be compatible. Sure, it went against cause and effect and even logic, but so did Kai.

As Kai and Sein walked through the desert Sein leaned her head backwards.

"I'm so tired and thirsty."

"Same."

"Well, I guess I do see a slum over there. At least it's a sign of life."

Kai nodded and they headed closer to the slum, and as they walked through the dilapidated houses, Kai was starting to feel a bit creeped out. It felt like a ghost town. Sein started knocking on one of the doors to the houses.

"Are you sure it's safe to knock?"

"I don't know."

"That's reassuring."

A girl opened the door. She appeared to be an elf girl with short white hair and long, pointy ears. She smiled brightly at them.

"Oh hello! We don't get many visitors here."

Kai's eyes widened in disbelief. An elf girl? Just like a fantasy isekai story. I mean sure he saw the giant robot and the power system of Sou, but this was actual isekai stuff.

"Woah, and elf girl."

"Yeah, my name is Kaly, and I'm 1000 years old."

Finally, all the isekai tropes were coming together.

"NO WAY! A REAL 1000-YEAR-OLD ELF GIRL!"

"Ha. I'm just kidding, I'm just 16. And I'm not an elf, these are just fake ears because yesterday was a holiday here were we dress up as mythical creatures."

All of this was just too conveniently disappointing. With a blank expression on his face, Kai turned around and started walking away. This caused Sein to laugh a bit.

"Where are you going Kai."

"To wallow in misery."

Kai once again learned that reality is harsh.
