As Kai and Sein were being escorted out of the capital building, they both looked extremely upset. Kai turned back to face the building.
"Are we gonna get some sort of revenge on Zia?"
Sein sighed and looked at the ground.
"I don't really care. Let's just get out of this city."
"Sure."
Sein opened the door to her car, wondering if it had been fixed, although she wasn't holding her breath. She turned it on, and to her surprise, it started running.
"I guess Zia keeps her word, despite being an actual serial killer."
As Kai was about to enter the passenger's side of the car, Zia stood atop the building, aiming a sniper rifle at him. She aimed directly at his head and pulled the trigger, causing a bullet hole wound to appear on her own head instead. She then collapsed to the floor.
"Interesting."
Another Zia walked out to see the dead body.
"It works on clones too."
Zia was an incredibly powerful person. Due being the monarch of the entire country, all the Sou in the country belonged to her, giving her access to a plethora of abilities, including but not limited to cloning and healing.
Kai turned around and rubbed his head.
"Something wrong?"
"No, I just thought I felt something."
Kai steps inside the car.
Zia smirked seeing him leave. She then turned back to the body and stretched out her arm.
"Heal!"
However, the body did not heal. Zia's eyes narrowed as she continued casting healing spells, however not one managed to work. Her healing ability was incredibly potent, even resurrecting those who succumbed to her eyes of retribution, yet it failed to work on her clone.
"Hm. That boy doesn't have a Sou based ability. It doesn't seem to be an ability that abides by any form of magic or energy."
She turned to see their car drive off into the distance before smirking.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
As Kai and Sein exited the city in their new car, Kai was blankly staring out the window with no expression on his face. After a couple of minutes, he turned to Sein.
"Sein, where are we going again?"
"I got directions from a guy at town hall remember. The place isn't that far away."
"Isn't town hall the same as the capital building."
"Yeah why?"
"Why would you trust anything from there?"
Sein immediately stepped on the breaks. She turned to Kai with a nervous expression.
"That's a good point. Let's go to another city then."
Kai nodded. Sein attempted to step of the gas again, but it wouldn't work. She looked down at the pedals with fear in her eyes before stepping on the pedal a few more times, but nothing happened. The car was not out of gas, this was something else entirely.
Sein then opened her door and ran to open the hood, but nothing seemed wrong with the engine this time.
"What's wrong Sein?"
"The damn car won't move."
Kai stepped out of the vehicle as well, scratching his head in confusion. As they looked into the hood, the air around them began to feel colder.
Kai turned around. His eyed widened as he saw what appeared to be a giant dark grey cloud of dust with bright white eyes staring at them.
"Sein, turn around."
Sein, confused, turned around only to back up in fear.
"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?"
"I... I don't know."
At the city capital, Zia walked up to a man who was leaning against a wall. He had wavey black hair and bright blue eyes.
"Summoner Jian, did you summon the Phanarokh Thanatoshi?"
"Yes, miss Zia. It is set to follow the targets as you ordered."
"Excellent. Phanarokh Thanatoshi are a species that end all things. This will be true retribution for disrupting my plans."
"Miss Zia, isn't such a being overkill? This species was created to bring destruction on this world the gods had made for us. To enact such a penalty on a mere boy must be going too far."
"Do you listen? He has disrupted me. I will show no forgiveness."
Jian nodded. Zia was very childish despite being a monarch. Her law is final, and those who go against it, even unknowingly, must die.
As Kai and Sein ran back into the car, Sein tries to step on the gas pedal as much as possible, but to no avail.
"START ALREADY!"
The Phanarokh Thanatoshi moved closer, causing the world around the two to shake. Sein covered her head in desperation. It was rare for her to show any sign of fear, and Kai knew this. Kai knew there was a better chance for him to survive due to his ability, so he stepped out of the car to face the being.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
"I'm gonna see if my ability works on it."
"IT'S NOT EVEN PHYSICAL YOU IDIOT!"
Kai took a deep breath. He knew his ability could work on anything physical, even lava, but this being was different. It couldn't even be touched. Despite this, he had a promise to uphold."
"I have to let you survive remember."
"Forget the damn promise and get in the car."
"No way."
Before Sein could say another word Kai ran towards the monster before it got any closer.
"DUMBASS!"
He jumped straight into the being. Such a sudden action shocked Sein, and it seemed to have even shocked the Phanarokh Thanatoshi.
There was a silence, but the being did not move. Instead, it's eyes faded, as if whatever life source it had drained. The being that could upset even gods was now fading away.
Sein was staring intently with her breath held.
"Did it actually work?"
As the monster faded, the silhouette of Kai was visible. Sein immediately stepped out of the car to see if her eyes were deceiving her.
Kai stood up from where the monster once stood and turned to Sein with a weak smile. Sein couldn't believe her eyes. All she could do was smile back.
