Surveillance cameras fill the city. A woman with long white hair who was wearing a dark black cloak stared at a giant screen with narrowed eyes as she sat in a small office.
A man knocked on the door before walking in. The man was also wearing a dark black cloak.
"Miss Zia. It appears as if the invasion was cancelled out."
"I know that."
The woman spun in her chair with her head leaned back.
"Population control is hard work."
"If I may, perhaps you can come up with a better idea than unleashing ravenous beasts. That could very well destroy the city as well."
The woman, who was named Zia, stopped spinning and lifted her head up with a menacing smirk on her face. She turned her head slowly and looked into his eyes.
"So, you're saying my ideas are bad?"
"No, I jus..."
A purple light flashed from Zia's eyes. The man then instantly stumbled back and collapsed against the wall. Zia's eyes of retribution could inflict an instantaneous death on anyone she wished it to. She then leaned her head back once again.
The screen displayed the moments where Kai caused the lizard creatures to die in various ways. Zia had been rewatching these moments to see how such a feat was possible.
As Kai and Sein walked through the city streets, which were now being repaired, Sein started to run a bit.
"Hey, move a bit faster, I gotta show you something."
Kai nodded and started walking faster. As he turned the corner of one of the city blocks, his eyes widened in shock. Sein extended her arm to reveal a gold-plated car she had purchased with her reward money.
"Are you impressed? I was gonna buy every car in the lot, but this one is so cool, so I got just the one."
"What is the point of getting something expensive when people are just going to steal it?"
"Oh, they won't steal it because we're leaving the city right now."
"Wait what?"
Kai had just been in the city for only a couple of days. It wasn't his favorite experience, but moving so quickly wasn't something he expected. He wasn't complaining however, as he wanted to escape as soon as physically possible.
"Don't been so surprised. I already said I wanted to leave soon, so get in the car. I got directions to notable areas in this world at town hall yesterday. Surely one of them could be the way home, so hurry up."
"Ok... let's go."
Kai got into the passenger's side as Sein took the driver's seat. She had a giddy smile, clearly excited to test out the vehicle. As soon as she pressed the gas peddle, a loud "BOOM" was heard, and the car wouldn't start.

"WHAT THE HELL?"
Sein got out and opened the trunk, only to see the engine in pieces. Sein was clearly pissed off.
"HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?"
Kai got out of the car and scratched his head in confusion. He didn't know how something like this could have happened either.
"Don't you go just yet."
Kai and Sein both looked over the who was talking. It was Zia.
"I am Zia. Monarch of this country. I have caused your engine to explode, and I will repair it, however you must come with me first."
Sein didn't know how someone could just make an engine explode, but she didn't care. She was about to reach into her backpack, but just then Zia's eyes glowed with a purple aura.
"Don't do anything. I can cause your death right now, so just obey and follow me."
This could have been a bluff, but Sein realized taking a chance like this was counterproductive, so she nodded. Kai, however, was more focused on the fact that there were countries in this world. It shouldn't have surprised him, yet somehow it did.
Kai and Sein followed Zia to the building with the tallest peak in the city. It was the capital building, and where Zia lived. They walked into the building, and Zia led them to a large empty room.
"Just stay in here for a moment, I will be right back."
Kai and Sein entered the room and looked around. There was literally nothing in the room. Not even a chair.
"Hey Sein, do you trust Zia?"
"HAHA! Not at all!"
"Good. We're on the same page."
Zia walked into a room in which she met with a blonde man, once again wearing a black cloak, named Caius.
"Caius, I have you called you to this office because after replaying the footage all night, I have come to the conclusion that Kai has an ability that allows him to kill anything he looks at, similar to my eyes of retribution."
"Understood miss Zia. What shall I do to assist you?"
"You are known as a mind controller, correct?"
"That is correct?"
"Mind control the girl. I need Kai exterminated. He has got in the way of my plans, and I can't take the risk of doing it myself. He most likely won't kill his friend, so mind control her, and get her to kill him. She has a backpack which is filled with weapons, so it will be easy."
"As you wish miss Zia."
Caius' eyes glowed as he had transferred his consciousness into Sein. Sein's body twitched at the moment of her consciousness being overridden.
"..."
"Sein, what's wrong?"
Caius, in the body of Sein, pulled out her pistol and aimed it directly at Kai's head.
"SEIN WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
As Sein was about to pull the trigger, Kai jumped out of the way, evading the bullet. He got a glimpse of Sein's lifeless eyes, causing him to realize that she was not herself right now.
"SEIN STOP THIS!"
Caius shot once more. Luckily, he wasn't the best aim, missing Kai for a second time.
"PLEASE STOP!"
Kai was pleading with Sein not to shoot. Not for his own safety, but because he knew that if Sein shot him, she would die instead. He couldn't let that happen. His job was to escape with her after all.
Caius put the pistol away and pulled out the automatic gun, ensuring he would at least land one hit on him. Kai froze in fear. He couldn't evade such an attack, and he trembled at the thought of Sein being killed.
The gun started firing, and as soon as one bullet him Kai, the gun fell from Sein's hands, and she fell to the ground.
"SEIN!"
Kai ran up to her. His mind was blank. How could she have died so suddenly? Kai knew he felt the bullet touch his chest, but Sein wasn't bleeding at all. Just then, Sein blinked a few times and looked around.
"What just happened?"
Kai, hearing her voice, sighed a sigh of relief. He helped her stand up.
"I... I don't know, but you had me worried. It was like someone was controlling you."
Sein looked to the ground and saw bullet shells everywhere. She knew that this was her doing, or at least, someone who was in her body. Sein could only think of one person who could have caused this.
"It was Zia wasn't it."
"I didn't think about that, but... probably."
Caius was dead in the office, bleeding from the chest. Zia looked at his body with a blank expression.
"Interesting. So it's not a perception ability. It's a reversal of some sort."
Zia stepped over Caius' body and walked out of the room. She gestured to some guards in the hallway.
"Let them go. I'll keep track of them."
"Yes Ma'am!"
Zia continued walking down the hall before laughing as she exited the building.
