Arc 2 chapter 4: Broken Bones And Silent Screams.

In an empty parking lot a few guys could be seen surrounding a single guy who had a calm smile on his face. The guy who had planned to beat up Zhang Fei and had brought his lackeys came forward and said with a sneer, “So why did you bring us here nerd, were you too ashamed to have been beaten up in front of An zining? Well it doesn’t matter, since no one is going to witness you being beaten up by me, it wouldn’t lead to any problems.” But sadly for the bully Zhang Fei had exactly the same thing in his mind when he led them here.

“No, I think no will hear your screams here and come to help you and also there is no one to see what I am going to do with you as well, that’s why I led you here.”

The bully looked at Zhang Fei with a weird expression on his face and then started laughing, “hahah oh my, hahah you mean you led us here to beat US up? Hahahah man I haven’t heard such a good joke in a long time. Did you guys hear this fool hahah” The bully then stopped laughing, “I am gonna enjoy beating you up, nerd. Go get him.” All the guys started surrounding and went forward to give the guy a good pummeling.

[Don’t worry guys, you still have a chance….]Coco cheered for the guys that were planning to beat up Zhang Fei. When the first guy approached Zhang Fei, he punched the first guy directly on the face without giving him a chance to make a move, which resulted in a cracking noise and a broken nose. The guy fell down and didn’t get up. All the other guys stopped and looked at Zhang Fei with apprehension and a shocked expression.

[….or maybe not.] Coco immediately switched sides seeing how the guys against Zhang Fei didn’t seem to have a chance against him.

Zhang Fei cracked his knuckles and said with a cold smile, “why did you stop, I was just getting started.”

After a few minutes of blood curdling screams and broken bones, Zhang Fei was leaving the parking lot. This was enough of a message to Yao Zhixing. Since the people he beat up were some of his people he would get the message from this that he wasn’t to be taken lightly and was someone to be respected, he wouldn’t cause as much problem now during the mission. Maybe he would come to settle the score with Zhang Fei, but Zhang Fei wasn’t afraid of that.

[And thus a few more poor souls were added to the long list of victims of the monster know as ‘ Zhang Fei’] Coco narrated his host’s brutal act.

“If you don’t shut up, you are going to be one of those victims.”

[…] hmph, you cannot silence the thruth! Coco inwardly gave a snide remark totally ignoring the fact that Zhang Fei actually did silence Coco.

Zhang Fei and Coco then talked about the mission for a while before they heard some noises from an alley way they were passing by.

[oh host looks like we found some suspects of interest.]

Zhang Fei heard a few words as he was passing by

“…so the ritual will be commenced as planned right?” said one of the two guys in the alley way

“heheh yes ofcourse, everything has been planned by master we jus..”

Before the second guy could continue what he was saying Zhang Fei turned around and started walking away. Nope, not my problem. He didn’t care what they were talking about, worse he thought if he knew it might lead to more problems. He had read enough fiction to know what would happen next. Although it was best to know things, knowing too much could lead to trouble.

[*Ding* Host has encountered a side Mission! Side Mission: Find out what the cultists are planning and stop them. Host will be awarded additional contribution points for completion of mission. Failure to complete side mission will lead to deduction of points. Do you accept the mission?]

Zhang Fei thought that he should probably let go of the side mission, the main mission already seemed difficult. It wouldn’t be a problem if he could complete the side mission along the way but the island would have monsters at every turn so he didn’t think that he would have the liberty to complete the side mission and if he did complete it, it would be with a lot of difficulty. Before Zhang Fei could say No, he heard Coco voice again.

[Side mission accepted. Failure to complete side mission will lead to deduction of points.]

“What the fuck Coco, I didn’t say yes. Did you accept the mission on your own?” Zhang Fei said with an expression that encompassed the cold unforgiving fury

[………….*cough**cough*yes*cough**cough*……. ]

“You better give me a good reason or else you will end up as a flat piece of metal instead of a cube.”

[Well you know how you complete mission and get contribution points, in the same way the systems also get contribution points based on the performance of their hosts so…]

“Don’t tell me you did this because you were greedy for contribution points?”

[Yes I did BUT there is also another reason I accepted the mission. My senses from the many missions I did with the many of my now deceased- I mean retired hosts were telling me that this side mission is strongly connected to the main one and it will be really helpful for the completion of the main mission]

“And I am supposed to trust your so called senses?” As far as Coco senses were concerned, Zhang Fei thought there could be nothing more unreliable.

[Yes ………….. okay maybe that doesn’t sound convincing but I am definitely sure this will be helpful to you. You have to trust me.] Coco remembered the last time someone trusted him. What happened to that guy I wonder? Oh right, he was sucked into a black hole….. Coco silently decided to keep this information to himself.

Zhang Fei said with an annoyed expression, “And why didn’t you ask me if I wanted to accept the side mission or not?” Zhang Fei would have skipped the side mission but since Coco said that it would be helpful to him he decided to accept it but he was still a little pissed off since the cube didn’t ask for his permission.

[Oh that’s simple. I immediately said yes in excitement when I thought about the extra contribution points and ‘forgot’ to ask you.]

(-_-) Zhang Fei shook his head in disappointment and decided to totally give up on his mentally ill cube who had not even a tiny hope of being redeemed. Coco didn’t tell his host that he realized that the side mission could be helpful after he accepted the mission. He didn’t want to end as a practice target for his host later.

[Don’t worry host, it was just out of impulse, I won’t be making the same mistake again] Coco said with a righteous tone

“I am not worrying, you should be the one worrying” Zhang fei said with a disinterested tone.

[…] Zhang Fei left out those omnious words for Coco and walked towards the party since the night was still young and so was he apparently. He returned the party and the party was still going on despite it being so late already. He asked coco what the Cultists were talking about since he didn’t hear it himself clearly as he was busy walking away from a potential problem. Coco told Zhang Fei that an executive head of the organization which was responsible for the sacrifice was planning a separate ritual. His wife had died from an accident, the executive head loved her so he couldn’t cope with her death. He used his position to arrange a separate ritual to bring her dead wife back to life but his decision was opposed by the other executive heads.

The executive head despite heavy opposition decided to carry out the ritual, hence he and his subordinates had been preparing to perform the ritual during the night of the sacrifice. Although it was dangerous, the executive head still decided to carry out the ritual to revive his dead wife.

“So did they succeed in the original story?” Zhang Fei wanted to know more about the ritual. Since the side mission was to stop the cultists it was safe to assume that ‘stop the cultists’ meant stopping the ritual, it would be helpful if he knew what happened in the original story.

[I don’t know, side missions usually only come with some brief info and a given objective to complete. The rest is up to the hosts to find out themselves so I really don’t know whether they succeeded or not in the original story]

“Can you follow them and find out where the Ritual is going to be held?” Zhang Fei decided to send coco for survillence, if Coco fount out where the ritual was being held, it would be much easier for him to stop them.

[pfft of course I can, do you think I can’t do something that simple?] Coco said with a snort.

“Yes, actually I do think that.”

[…] why did I even ask. Coco left Zhang Fei and went to spy on the cultists to see where their hideout was, zhang Fei just hoped the cube wouldn’t get distracted by something else on the way and forget tailing the cultists. Zhang Fei then looked around and saw yun long, he was happily talking to a girl who seemed rather interested about what yun long was talking about given the smile on her face and how she had turned her attentions towards yun long while giving out a few laughs every now and then.

Zhang fei took a drink and sat at the corner of the room, he got up to leave. These kind of parties would go on all night, he didn’t really see any point in staying behind. He went up to Yun long and told him that he was leaving after he went to his room in order to prepare himself for the mission.
