Arc 1 chapter 12: A Royal Screw-up.

"You bitch, you are going to pay for this." One of the men finally woke of from their stupor and shouted in a loud voice. Xia Ruo cautiously looked at the group of men, looking for any opportunity that would present itself to get out of this dangerous situation. The men were ready to once again continue with their work but suddenly the door of the room opened and Zhang Fei entered the room. He only cast a single glance at the group of men, the now dead body and Xia Ruo who had relieved expression on her face now that Zhang Fei was here, and fully understood the whole story. He also knew that Mo wenzi was following him and would enter the room a moment later too. The guys following Xia Ruo, the dead body, Mo Wenzi following him, all this infromation passed through his mind in a flash and Zhang Fei already formed a plan.

One of the men went forward to try and make Zhang Fei go away from here. He obviously thought that Zhang Fei was just a passerby, so he could just make him leave with a couple of threats.

"Look here man, if you know what best for-". Before he could even finish what he was saying Zhang Fei passed by him in a flash with a knife in his hand which he got from who knows where and the guy now had cut on his throat from which blood spewed out continuously. Zhang Fei continued moving towards the others, who were now frightened with Zhang Fei's ferocity, they tried to fight back but Zhang Fei slashed and stabbed his way through the group of men just before the first guy with a cut on his throat fell to the ground. They were all dead. Zhang Fei then immediately went forward and told Xia Ruo to hide, she didn't ask any questions and immediately hid. Right at the moment she hid the door of the opened once again.

"Zhang Fei, how dare you have thoughts about my woman- huh?" Mo wenzi entered the room and bellowed in anger, but he stopped once he saw the bodies with fresh blood and looked confused for a while. But before he could turn his head to inspect the room, he felt a fist connect with his face heavily and he was knocked out cold.

After Mo wenzi was K.Oed Xia came out of her hiding place and found Zhang Fei cleaning the hilt of the knife and then placing it in Mo Wenzi's hand. She had a faint idea about what Zhang Fei was trying to do but still asked anyway, "What are you doing?"

"Giving the murderer of these fine young men his weapon back". She let Zhang Fei continue with what he was doing as he also removed evidences of her involvement as well. She looked around and now finally had a proper look at Zhang Fei's carnage, she went a little pale now that the adrenaline had worn off.

"Come on let's go" Xia Ruo nodded and followed Zhang Fei as he let her downstairs. She now noticed that Zhang Fei didn't have a speck of blood on his clothes. Zhang Fei went downstairs to the main hall once again after which he entered a ground floor room with Xia Ruo and then left the mansion through the window. They went to their car and started driving off towards Xia Ruo's home.

They both sat there in silence for a while not speaking a word before Zhang Fei finally choose to break the silence, "Well that was a royal screw-up." And they went quiet again.

After a while Xia Ruo looked at Zhang Fei for a moment and then said, "I'm sorry."

"Don't be, it wasn't your fault, and besides we even got a good opportunity to get rid of Mo Wenzi, although just being in jail is a little bland. We only have to make a few minor changes to the plan so don't worry."

Silence again descended in the car, it stayed like that for a few moments before Xia Ruo broke the silence this time, "Thank you....for saving me." Xia Ruo knew that Zhang Fei had saved her because her being in a difficult spot would also cause problems for Zhang Fei indirectly, but she still wanted to thank him.

Zhang Fei calmly said, "Don't be, we are partners aren't we?" Xia Ruo didn't reply and only gave a smile in response after which she closed her eyes and leaned on the car seat, she was truly tired from all the running.

Zhang Fei dropped her at her mansion and decided to go out for a walk in the nearby park. Zhang Fei knew that she probably needed someone to talk to after her experience but he wanted her to try to tackle it on her, so that it would strengthen her temperament and besides, he wasn't the type of person to do such things. Coco had sensed that its host's mood was a bit different from normal so he chose to stay silent and followed Zhang Fei without making a sound.

He entered the park and casually started strolling. The Moon was full and it illuminated the surroundings and gave it a surreal feeling, Zhang Fei walked through the park which didn't have a single being in it with a slow and calm pace. There was only Zhang Fei's lone figure strolling through the park, the scene appeared quite beautiful, it also had a sense of desolation in it but it also held a charm and the silence of the night offered a unique beauty to it. Zhang Fei sat on a bench in the surrounding darkness looking at the pond in front of him which reflected the moon with clarity, it almost appeared as if the pond was a doorway to another world. Zhang Fei sat there for a while in silence enjoying the beauty of nature at this late hour. He then looked at the moon and finally let out a small chuckle.

"A fine night indeed."
