The restaurant owner opened the back door to the shop and threw the beautiful girl ruthlessly to the ground as her white skirt got dirty with the mud. “You useless wench, that is the last time you do a screw up in my restaurant, heck you almost tried to burn down the restaurant this time around, here take your this week’s pay and get lost, you are fired!” The large obese man threw money at the girl that was pitifully sitting on the ground with her soft hair hiding her face and whatever expression she was making.
The restaurant owner was glad that he could get rid of this woman or else a real disaster would have come to his business, he was finally glad he averted it. Initially he allowed her to work at the restaurant because she was a real beauty which could attract customers and maybe like the other female employees he could have some fun with her, maybe he still could.
“You know it doesn’t have to be like this, you have a nice face and body, you can still earn money, but hehe it will be in other ways if you know what I mean…” The obese restaurant owner gave a hideous grin showing what a scum he was.
He thought he would get to see the pitiful look the girl always gave when being around the restaurant, it seemed to earn her a lot of favor from the patrons and seemed to be her normal expression, but when the girl lifted her face it was a look of scorn and ridicule. The girl slowly got up and laughed at the restaurant owner, “What? You think a piece of garbage like you has a chance with me, even if I had to resort to selling my body It wouldn’t be to trash like you, I have standards you know.”
The restaurant owner looked wide eyes at the change in the young girl, who expected this flower to be so toxic all of a sudden. His expression changed into one of anger and embarrassment at her words. “Wench, laugh all you want, your end won’t be so bright”. The restaurant owner spurted out the words in anger as he turned around and went inside. Xia Mei smile was lost at hearing the restaurant owner’s warning and but a charming yet dangerous smile came once again. “Who said I was just ‘trying’ to burn the restaurant.” Xia Mei said in a cold voice as she took out an alcohol bottle and a piece of cloth from her bag, she made a makeshift Molotov and set it on fire with a lighter. “let’s see how a fat pig burns”. Xia Mei threw the Molotov through the open window of the restaurant right near the front entrance.
The restaurant was in a small street in a really congested space and hence had only one window which would always be open. Xia Mei went forward and put a rusty metal bar to lock the back door shut and shut the window from outside as well after she threw the Molotov inside. The fire inside burned higher and higher as people panicked because there was no way of escape, even the window was tightly shut. Xia Mei walked away with a smile as she heard the screams of the innocent victims who were burned alive and especially the dying sound of a certain pig.
It seemed that the smile was a reflection of her mental state, like her it was broken. It seems my luck is really down, I can’t find any stable job no matter what I do. Xia Mei was looking for a job for some time now but no matter what she did, even if she found a job she wouldn’t be able to have it for long and she wasn’t able to rent a place to stay as well with there always being one problem or another. She had sleep in the park and for a young girl like her it was dangerous, especially at night, but worse of all she was running out of money. “It’s okay, I can always rob a store and kill everyone like today if worse comes to worse.” Far off at a distance some people were slowly trailing behind her and seemed to be keeping a watch on her.
Mo Wenzi was currently hiding in a sewer with rates scurrying here and there and was eating some food that he stole from a vendor when he wasn’t looking and was wearing really old and shabby clothes with unshaven beard grown on his face with dark circles below his eyes. This sewer had been his hideout place for some time because no one usually came down here, after he was almost caught multiple times outside by the authorities when in the hideouts outside he decided this was the best place to hide. Somehow him killing policemen was an even bigger news than the riot in one of the most of the stable prisons in the country, and now everyone knew he was a cop killer and was wanted across the country, with even more fire being added to the public’s hate towards him through people constantly sharing the story on the internet. It seemed everyone had forgotten that he was once the loved and respected young master of the Mo Corporation.
Mo Wenzi heaved a sigh at his current situation, he had freedom but what was the use of it if he couldn’t even show his face to the outside world no that he thought about it, it seemed he fucked up big time this time around. He would always blame Zhang fei for his situation, but now that he thought about it Xia Su had a big part in it as well. It was now even clearer to him that she was telling lies to him all along, and that sadly she never loved him. He was blind back then and took her being with him as her loving him but now it seemed it was all because of he had power and money. Mo wenzi eyes burned red with anger and sorrow as he thought more and more about how he ended up here because of her, because he always did what she asked. It seemed the power couple was about to have a rough breakup.

Suddenly he heard footsteps from a far, he immediately stood up ready to do whatever he needed to escape if it was the authorities. A slowly approaching silhouette could be seen off at a distance in the lowly lit sewers.
“Relax kiddo, didn’t think someone new would be at my spot.” An old wrinkled man in shabby clothes slowly walked forward with a kind smile on his face, it seemed the old man had no ill intentions.
“Your spot?” Mo wenzi asked in a confused manner. Who heck would want this place to be their spot, oh wait I did the same. Mo Wenzi looked at the old man and he seemed to be just an ordinary homeless old man.
“ Yes, for 40 years I have lived here, so I think it ‘is’ my spot kid hahah” the old man said in a raspy voice which didn’t sound unpleasant at all and gave a hearty laugh. He went and slowly sat by Mo wenzi’s side. The old man took a close look at Mo wenzi and asked in an inquiring tone “Heck kid, it looks like you had a rough day.”
Mo Wenzi was cautious but thought that an old homeless man couldn’t possibly be a danger to him. Mo Wenzi lowered his guard because he wanted to talk to someone as well like the old man, it had been some time since he conversed with someone. Mo wenzi looked at the old man and gave another long sigh, “Every day is a rough day these days old man”
The Old man took out a bottle of alcohol and opened it to drink a sip, “True, times were much simpler back then. So why are you brooding in a place such as this?”
“Well…. I lost, that’s why I am here, I lost to someone better than me at everything, and it seemed that I won’t catch up to him to beat him no matter what I do, so I ended up here after losing.” Mo Wenzi just poured out his thoughts to the old man after bottling them for such a long while.
The old man nodded while savoring the flavor the taste of the alcohol and listening to the kid’s story, “Ah I see, yours is a story about a rivalry, you know you don’t always win in a rivalry kid, you shouldn’t be so downhearted because of it.”
“You don’t always lose too, I have never come on top” Mo wenzi said with an ugly expression, to him he had always lost to Zhang Fei in everything, and Zhang Fei probably didn’t thought of him as a rival at all like he did.
“Kid, I was the same, I used to lose against my rival all the time also, and constantly at that too.”
“Then did you win in the end?” Mo wenzi was a little interested in this person who had gone through the same things as he had, he felt that the old man would be able to understand his frustrations and he could finally get to talk to someone who he could share his thoughts fully with.
The old man shrugged his shoulder as he took another sip, “Yep, he died and I am still alive and kicking, I would call that a win, wouldn’t you?” The old man said with a laugh, Mo Wenzi was silent for a while at the absurd win but he managed to smile as well affected by the old man’s laugh.
“Old man, you are right, that is one way to win.” Mo Wenzi was relaxed now that he had a normal conversation after a long time of running from authorities. He thought that the old man was like him, down on his luck but still surviving.
“Hey kid, care for a drink?” The old man asked with the same kind smile.
“Sure” Mo wenzi returned the smile. If it was the normal days he would be disgusted to even talk to someone like the old man but circumstances are bigger than man. He had to bow down to circumstances and accept the cheap alcohol offered by the old man to wet his throat from the same bottle.
Mo wenzi took the bottle and took a few consecutive sips. “Right, I forgot to mention how my rival died?” Said the old man.
Mo wenzi continued drinking as he turned his head and asked in an inquiring tone,” Yeah you didn’t mention about it.”
“I poisoned his drink.” The old man said in a calm voice with the same kind smile still on his face.
Mo wenzi stopped drinking and looked at the old man with a confused look.
“What do you mean?”
“Well You see I am very good with drinks and chemicals, so I concocted an undetectable poison and put it in his drink, and succeeded in killing him but after that I really lost interest in life as beating him was all I ever thought about and then I became the wandering drunk old man you see now. If you want to have a look at my skills then the drink you drank will prove my skills to you in a couple of moments. You know, you remind me of my rival a lot, you know the one who is dead haha” The old man gave the same hearty laugh, but this time it was like alarm bells going off in Mo wenzi’s head. He stood up and tried to walk away but fell on the wet ground and slowly felt losing control of his body and his senses. He was losing conscious as everything was slowly turning dark. “You see kid, the reason I won was really simple”.
The old man went forward and picked the bottle that had fallen from Mo Wenzi’s hand and drank from it again. “I don’t play fair, much like your rival haha.” Mo wenzi managed to hear the last sentence as everything went to dark
