A Nerfed Gamer in Avia Chapter 6 - A Guide to Mp
I narrowed my eyes as the blue energy slowly swirled around my hand. This was Mp but I was surprised, it was much easier to move than I thought it would be.
I have to assume it's because I have experience controlling my Qi. My control was nowhere near good enough for me to actually start using Mp but it was already closer to being useful.
The first page of the book was on Mp theory, stating its limits and such. I knew all of this already since it interested me when I was younger.
To put it simply Mp couldn’t be used to change or empower your body in any way.
For example simply moving Qi around your body gives benefits but doing so with Mp is uncomfortable. It feels like something foreign is moving through your body.
It’s hard to explain… It’s just wrong. Qi feels like it should be there, like it always has, it's comforting.
The first time I did this, an exercise in controlling Mp. It felt fantastic, like I had an extra limb moving around my hand. I felt what the Mp limb felt.
It was cool, I knew there was a Mp technique that made use of this. A sensing technique that allows you to sense everything around you.
Anyway, this was the first technique. You needed to get used to said feeling and the best way to do that was to just feel things.
Granted I skipped a few techniques that were there to start you on manipulating Mp but I could already do that well enough.
I had already wrapped my Mp around most things in my room and I had gotten used to it or at least I thought I did.
Mp was incredible. I could feel so much with it, the sense of touch it gave was so much more sophisticated than the sense of touch my hands gave me.
It was cool and I enjoyed it.
Soon I stopped, retracting the Mp back in then laid down, falling asleep quickly.

“My family do something like this as well, although we don’t do it everyday. I have to say I don't mind it though” Arthur said to Damien and I.
The Zeroth Family had joined us for our morning training session.
“Yea it’s routine for us, we do it everyday with no exceptions, it helps” Damien said as he jogged beside me, Arthur on his other side.
We were jogging around the mansion.
“Hey Ben?” Arthur said getting my attention “that martial art you use? What is it?” he asked and I chuckled as Damien suddenly started glaring at me.
“Don’t bother Arthur. We’re brothers and he still had told me nothing about it” Damien growled out slightly.
“Sorry Damien but I'm not ready to start teaching you yet” I shrugged as I remembered our deal from a few years ago.
“But I would be happy to tell Arthur about it” Damien looked aghast then pissed as he threw a half hearted punch at me which I ducked under as I kept running.
Arthur gave a chuckle at Damien’s annoyance.
“I made it myself, it took awhile but I managed it. I’ve trained so heavily in it that the moves have become instinctual, my body moves and reacts on its own. Granted its limited, only the techniques I've practised can be done instinctually” I said with a shrug.
“That makes sense, even when I used the Initial form, you were reacting” he mumbled.
“Initial Form?” Damien asked as Arthur smiled at him, not elaborating.
I chuckled as Damien gave him a glare “Is that the technique you used against me?” I asked and Arthur nodded.
“It’s my family’s Technique” Damien simply threw up his arms in exasperation at Arthur’s explanation.
We both laughed as Damien pouted at us before he smirked and sped up, running ahead of us.
We smirked as we sped up as well, running after him.
********************************************
We stood in front of a large cave opening. Me, Damien and Arthur all stood in front with an excited look.
Behind us were the three hunters, they had brought us to the den of some lower strength monsters to see if we could do it ourselves.
Granted we had to travel far away from the town to be able to get here, supposedly a Goblin camp was located here. A dungeon.
Arthur had asked to tag along and none of us had a problem with it, the Hunters decided we had no reason not to win now.
We advanced forward, moving into the cave, Arthur was the strongest so he was at the front. Damien and I would be working on killing whilst Arthur kept the attention on himself. The Hunters kept their distance from us.
Soon we found a group and immediately Arthur ran forward getting their attention with a shout as his Qi Cloak flared to life around his body.
Goblins were exactly what you’d think they were. Green skinned, short, ugly and vicious.
They charged Arthur and swung rusty weapons at him, he simply dodged all the attacks.
As he was about to get overwhelmed, four died instantly. Damien and I had appeared at his sides. My fist slamming into one of their heads as I followed with a kick to another, sending two corpses to the floor.
Damien had simply destroyed their heads with one hit.
Goblins by themselves were weak, their advantage was their numbers.
Normal Goblins were all Peasant Tier 1, Hobgoblins could be Knight Tier 1 to Knight Tier 4.
The last two Goblins were killed by Arthur.
THe encounters continued much the same, the size of the group didn’t matter. We came across a group of 10 that gave us some issues but we just started using Qi Step and dodged all of their attacks.
It wasn’t long before we came to the boss “arena” of this dungeon. A huge group of 16 Goblins and a Hobgoblin.
Arthur sighed as their eyes all locked onto us “Benjamin can you distract the Hobgoblin whilst me and Damien take care of the Goblins?” I nodded in response to Arthur’s question.
I could tell the Hobgoblin was Knight Tier 3. The Goblins gave 50 exp, I had killed about 15 so i had gained 750 exp which was nowhere near enough to level.
Immediately Arthur and Damien went about killing the group of Goblins and surprisingly the Hobgoblin rushed past Damien and Arthur and proceeded to slam his greatsword down onto the spot where I just was.
I had jumped to the side.
The Hobgoblin rushed me, slicing his greatsword at me as I ducked underneath the blade, my small size allowing me to easily avoid the attack.

I dodged a few more slashes and as the Hobgoblin sent a downward slash into the floor, getting his sword stuck as a result of it cutting into the earth below us.
I quickly rushed forward, Qi stepping right next to him as I threw a Qi and Haki infused punch into his right elbow.
A sickening crack sounded out as my punch bent his arm the wrong way.
The Hobgoblin immediately let go of the sword and stumbled back as it growled at me, holding its damaged arm.
I smirked as I dashed forward, going on the offensive as I launched a punch at his stomach which was dodged.
We had around the same physical abilities but I had more skills to use so I used one as he threw a retaliatory kick at my head.
I blocked the blow with my forearm, layering Qi Block and Haki on top of each other to block the kick.
The Hobgoblin hadn’t expected me to block an attack so I had the advantage as I sprang up. My hand straightened out, Qi and Haki strengthening it as my hand stabbed into the Hobgoblin throat.
I was hit with a punch from the creature’s only functioning arm. My Qi blocked the hit but I was still sent tumbling backwards
That was it though, the fight was over. The hobgoblin collapsed to the floor as it clutched at its throat, blood spilling from the wound.
I got 500 exp from that. Damien and Arthur were done as well, they had apparently been watching me.
Me, Arthur and Damien were quickly becoming good friends and I was annoyed that I wouldn’t be able to go to an academy with them.
Damien knew I was annoyed by it and constantly teased me about it but said I could visit whenever I wanted.
The Hunters decided to test us, we went back to the Dire Wolf dungeon we were familiar with and let us do the same. They stayed closer though, Yuuko was ready to help us.
We briefed Arthur on the dungeon and what the monsters usually did in a fight. He was excited about fighting the Alpha. Also Damien was Knight Tier 4, Arthur was Knight Tier 5.
The regular Dire Wolves were Knight Tier 3 whilst the Alpha was usually Knight Tier 5 but could be King Tier 1.
Soon the first group of 6 came rushing at us. We each took two.
************Arthur’s POV************
I ducked under one of the wolves as it pounced at me. As its body flew over me I threw a punch up into its gut causing its landing to be messy.
As the first wolf struggled to right itself, I charged at the second and slammed a fist into its jaw, its face being crushed in by my superior strength. I was two tiers above them after all.
I turned to help the others but Damien was already done and Ben was just finishing up.
Benjamin was a surprise, someone capable of fighting above his own Tier. Knight Tier 3 and he was capable of going up against a Knight Tier 5.
It was exciting, Damien and I knew we would have to work hard to not get overtaken by Ben. It gave me a lot of motivation which is why I wanted to join them on their hunt.
Soon Ben finished his fight and we were soon walking again.
Another two groups were dispatched much the same, Damien had gotten caught off guard and was almost bitten. Ben had kicked the wolf away before he could get hit.
Ben had killed 5, I had killed four and Damien three.
We encountered two more groups of 6, Damien didn’t make a mistake this time.
“We’ll keep the alpha busy whilst you guys kill the group of wolves then we’ll see how you do against the Alpha” Aeron said, the leader of the hunters.
We nodded and immediately set upon the group of 20 wolves. This was a lot more than we were used to. Yuuko was keeping an eye on us though.
I went all out, using all of my Qi techniques. I Qi stepped into the group as a fist slammed into and blew apart one wolf’s head, a kick decapitated a second.
I hopped back as a wolf slashed at me with its claws. Suddenly surging forward as I kicked the wolf in the face sending its corpse flying into another wolf.
Three more charged at me, I dodged one. Spun then kicked a second in the face as my attack sent it tumbling to the ground.
I was going to tank the third one but was unable to when Ben appeared and slammed his fist into its face, killing it.
The first was dealt with via a punch.
At the end of the fight, we were all covered in blood but unharmed. Ben had killed another 7, I had killed six, and Damien had killed 7.
Next was the Alpha.
Immediately the Hunters backed off as we charged forward.
I activated my Initial Form as I appeared in front of the beast and slammed a fist into its face, making it reel in pain.
Two more attacks hit its sides from Damien and Ben. Damien had hurt it a little, Ben had done more damage because of that other energy he had.
The fight continued much the same as I dodged its attacks whilst counter attacking with my own. Whenever my attacks stunned the beast, Ben and Damien would counter attack.
We had worn down the beast a lot. The beast swung an attack at me and I went to dodge but I hadn’t realised how low my reserves were. My Initial Form dropped and I was too slow as the attack hit me, sending me tumbling across the ground.
I managed to stop myself from taking too much damage but I was out of the fight after that hit. I had definitely fractured something.
Damien was quickly dealt with by a stray paw that sent him tumbling away. Already the Hunters were rushing forward but they were too late.
The Alpha went to bite Ben, I saw Damien shout out in worry as he struggled to get up, one of his legs was definitely broken.
Then I saw Ben;s eyes change. They went red and black. He dodged the beast’s attack then he punched it in the face. His fist slammed into the beast’s head.
His attack punched through the skin and went into the creature’s brain. Doing a lot more damage than even my attacks did.
Then I saw why, his fist was… black. It quickly disappeared and I thought I was concussed or something but I doubted it, I saw what I saw. I’d have to ask him about it.
The hunters checked the thing was dead before they moved and started helping me and Damien. Giving us both a bottle with a white foul tasting liquid. I felt the pain lessen and I realised they were painkillers.
Aeron picked Damien up and carried him away as Yuuko and Aegis helped me walk. Ben followed behind us.
************Benjamin’s POV************
We got back home, the Hunters were worried my father and Arthur’s were going to be mad we were hurt but were surprised when Dad slapped me and Damien on the backs as he laughed at Aeron’s worried look as he explained what happened.
“God you two are idiots!” he said to Damien and I “you know Arthur can’t hold that form for too long, you should have been expecting it to run out and should’ve been ready for it” he explained what he found amusing.
The Hunters let out sighs of relief. Dad chuckled as he patted Aeron of the back, mother taking Damien away towards the village to get his leg treated.
“Don’t worry about it, they are alive which is what matters, if you brought them back dead we’d be having a very different conversation” father said with a slightly menacing tone before a smile settled on his face.
“Same goes for me, Arthur has been too reliant on his Initial Form, he needs to learn it isn’t all powerful, it’s just another technique” Helmen Zeroth said with a smirk at Arthur.
“Although I am surprised that young Benjamin was the one who dealt the final blow, would you care to explain, young one?” Helmen asked me with a raised eyebrow.
I shrugged “I just got lucky, most of Arthur’s attacks were aimed at the beasts head so he must have weakened it enough for me to finish it” I explained, I had already had time on the walk back to come up with an excuse.
Helmen and Arthur nodded, the Hunters copying them. They accepted that reasoning but Arhurt was looking at with a raised eyebrow and a knowing look. He had seen me use Hardening I realised as I smiled sheepishly at him.
Yep I had figured out how to use Hardening, granted it used most if not all of the Qi I had left so it wasn;t something I could use a lot, at least not as I am now.
I had unlocked it when I had a burst of inspiration, Qi could be reinforced if more is applied to the same area, granting higher defence and offence. So I did the same with Haki, instead of simply coating my fists in a layer of Haki.
I instead infused a lot of the Haki into my skin and muscles. It was surprisingly simple. I do in fact remember something I read on the wiki a long time ago, it said that hardening was the most basic application of Armament Haki. Which also tells me there are more applications.
I never watched much of One Piece but I read the wiki a lot of things I found interesting. Such as Haki, the Rokushiki, and some Devil Fruits. Granted I barely remember most of what I read.
I was the least injured so dad refilled my Qi and sent me on my way. I went and had a bath before getting dried and dressed. I then found myself laying back on my bed, the Guide to Mp in my hands.
I had been reading. Another thing I found interesting was the fact that my Mp was still full. I had used most if not all of my Qi but my Mp was still full and raring to go.
It meant I had two energy sources to pull from but not all of my skills could use that energy. For example Haki can only use Qi, my Qi Cloak and techniques can obviously only use Qi. The Sharingan though can use both Qi and Mp.
I haven’t gotten a skill that can only use Mp yet but I will probably get one soon.
Also my Mp Control isn’t good enough yet for me to actually be able to make good use of it in combat. Also I was sceptical about using it in the tournament because I didn’t really want to out myself as an anomaly just yet.
But now that I have figured out that the Sharingan can use Mp. I can use my Qi openly whilst using Mp to fuel my Sharingan.
Anyway in two days the Zeroth Family will be leaving. Arthur had made us promise to visit at some point, he wanted to show us around the city where he lived. He said there was some cool stuff to see. We had obviously agreed.
The trip would be me, Damien and father since one of our parents had to stay behind to manage the village.
Although mother had made a deal with Dad, in return for doing most of the work back home whilst we were away. Dad would have to do the same for mom when she took the girls on a vacation.
They weren’t sure where they were going to go yet but the twins were excited.
Soon I fell asleep, the guide book on my bedside table and my dreams focused on the future.
