A Nerfed Gamer in Avia Chapter 10 - An Average D Rank Dungeon
I immediately launched a kick at the Branch Leader, my kick slammed into his guard. His arms easily held my foot back but that was only a probing attack.
My fist came up and shot out at Johnson’s chin attempting to stun him. Johnson blocked the blow before sending a kick at my side. I hopped back dodging the blow before I launched forward again.
I wasn’t using WSRSF. I was using the Avernus Fist Style. I had been learning it after all and decided to use it. But the one thing the Avernus Fist Style needed was superior physical abilities and I didn’t have that over Johnson.
So as I approached, my stance lowered and I fainted the punch I was preparing to launch at him. His arm came up to block the punch but he hadn’t expected me to faint.
You see WSRSF was very good at fighting monsters and such. Bang used it to become an S rank hero after all. BUt I have noticed something it’s even better at fighting humanoid enemies.
I launched another faint at Johnson. A punch flew towards him. I saw his eyes widen as he hastily raised his other arm to block.
I didn’t intend to land the punch though. I used the momentum of the punch to swing my body around. My right foot came up and around. Its heel slamming into Johnsons side. His Qi blocked all of the damage but now I had put him on the defensive.
So I made the split second decision to switch to the Avernus Fist Style. I launched forward. A punch slammed into his chest, Quad Burst activating. Three more attacks slammed into his chest, causing him to stumble back.
I followed it up by launching forward and sending a kick at Johnson. I had caught him off guard but as I saw a smirk cross his face I tried to stop the kick I had sent but it was too late.
Johnson grabbed my outstretched leg and pulled me close before throwing a powerful punch at my face. WSRSF did what it was supposed to. I was already bending backwards when he pulled me closer.
I bent backwards under the punch but Johnson still held my left leg in his grip so I used that as leverage. I hopped and hooked my right leg around the back of his head.
I then slammed a Haki covered punch into his face not using Hardening. Then I pulled back using my strength and body weight to flip his body over me, slamming him into the ground below us head first.
He let go and rolled away. I did the same. We had both underestimated each other but that wouldn’t happen again.
I stood in the praying mantis-style stance of WSRSF as I eyed Johnson warily. He stood in a simple boxer stance. His feet spread apart and fists raised.
I hadn’t realised until now but the smirk across my face spread wider as adrenaline surged through me. I blame Damien for my love of fighting.
Johnson also had a grin on his face.
Johnson had a clear advantage in physical strength. I didn’t know exactly what tier he was but it was clear he was holding back.
I also had an advantage though. I was 8 years old and thus tiny in comparison to Johnson who was at least 6ft.
I turned one hand around and curled my fingers back towards me, daring Johnson to come close.
He smirked at this and charged forward. He threw a punch at my head which I deflected to the side with the back of my palm. I then ducked under his second punch, a left hook aimed at my head.
His third attack, a right uppercut was sent to my defence. I leaned back using my momentum to flip back and slam a kick into Johnson's chin.
“What an interesting style” Johnson mumbled as he smirked at me. “Not pressing your advantage either, a style based on counter attacking suppose” He said with a smirk.
He believed he had figured me out and so he stood still, in his stance waiting for me to attack.
I chuckled “if you believe that’s all my style is capable of then you are sorely mistaken”.
I used one of the techniques levelling WSRSF had given me. Instant Movement.
I shot forward. My feet moving all over, I switched footwork constantly as I moved forward, throwing Johnson off. He had no way to predict where I would attack from.
As I arrived in front of him, I launched a punch, a faint. Qi Step moved me to the side of his block as I my fist shot forward and slammed into the side of his face.
A fast piercing attack that was also covered in Haki. His head flew to the side. The punch stunned him thoroughly. I pressed my advantage.
I dropped and swept his legs out from under him causing him to drop face first into the floor.
He couldn’t see me so I activated hardening. My leg turned a metallic black, Qi surged around it as I slammed a Hardening enhanced Qi axe kick into Johnson’s back.
The result… It was amazing. Johnson blocked the attack with a surge of Qi on his back. Qi Block being overused. He pushed as much Qi into the block as he could.
That saved him from the most damage. Haki could pierce Qi cloaks but if enough Qi was put in front of a Hkai infused attack then the damage would be lessened.
The floor below us though… It was blown apart from the power that travelled through Johnson’s body. The floor was torn apart, the only stopping it from getting absolutely destroyed was the wards on the room.
I had very clearly overdone it. I cancelled Haki and immediately went to help Johnson up.
He got up and proceeded to punch me in the face. Sending my body tumbling across the arena.
I hastily got up expecting him to be on me, pissed. But instead he was laughing.
“That has to be one of the most interesting fights I have ever had” he said with a chuckle.
“But.. the floor” I said hesitantly.
Johnson shrugged “eh your father can pay for it” he waved off my concerns with a chuckle “I expected you to be a talented Qi User but the only other times I’ve been caught off guard that much was back in the war when I fought Mp Users” he said with a nostalgic grin.
Is every Qi User in this world insane!
“So you don’t care about the damage” He shook his head with a smile.
“No I don’t, even if your father refuses to pay for it I'll just use one of my favours, also if you don’t damage your surroundings in a fight then it wasn’t a good one to begin with,” he said with a laugh.
“What Tier are you Benjamin?” He asked.
“King Tier 2” I answered.
He raised his eyebrows “Woah, to be able to produce that much damage to a warded and strong room like this one, that black armour technique must be very powerful” he said with an interested look.
“Ah… You saw that huh?” I asked.
He nodded as he lifted up a necklace that was around his neck. “All Sight” he explained.
I made a noise of understanding. All sight was an enchantment. It allowed the user to see around them in a. It simply changed their view to a side of them. So if you wished to look behind you. All Sight would simply move your field of vision top behind you.
I wouldn’t change your eyes or anything like that just the direction your field of vision was in. Right, left or behind you.
It was made using magic and the body parts of a monster who had that ability. Magic couldn’t affect the body after all but using artificing, Qi to power the item and monster parts it could be done.
Mages had many items like these, they either paid a Qi User to charge them or had a Qi battery. These were items made from monsters that had Qi. They were very expensive though.
They were better for Qi users though since they could use their own Qi to power them.
“So you know about magic items?” He asked and I nodded “my mother” I answered.
He chuckled “anyway do you know about how the ranks work?” Johnson asked and I shook my head.
“I have a small idea but I wasn’t sure” I answered.
He quickly explained how they worked.
There were 7 ranks. From highest to lowest they go as follows: S, A, B, C, D, E, F.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
There were minimum cultivation levels you needed to be before you could advance in ranks. For example F Rank was Knight Tier 1. E was King Tier 1.
So since I was already King Tier 2 then I was allowed to immediately advance to E Rank. Johnson though was very surprised at my capabilities so he said I could take the rank advancement test to D immediately.
Basically if you were a higher cultivation tier than the minimum you could automatically advance ranks when you first joined up.
But for example if I got to Earth Tier 2 which is one tier above the minimum for D rank then I wouldn’t be able to just advance ranks. I would be able to do the advancement test though.
You could only automatically advance ranks when you first joined up, you also had to sign a contract that basically said the guild wasn’t liable for your death. So your survival was entirely up to you.
Most people would start on quests lower than their rank to get used to how they worked and such.
But me who had been hunting in dungeons for a few months now, that wasn’t necessary.
So we immediately set out. He was taking me to a dungeon. Advancement tests were usually given to other Hunters of that rank. So I should be with a bunch of D Rank hunters.
The Hunters had to go through a test though, They were paid for doing advancement tests, handsomely I might add.
Which is why there were always Hunters available for advancement tests.
Anyway I soon found myself standing in front of a very familiar cave.
“I have been here before” I said.
Johnson chuckled “I know, I was the one that arranged this for you and young Damien. Your father asked me to. Which means you're very familiar with this particular dungeon. So if you aren’t capable of clearing it with ease then you aren’t ready to be a D Rank” Johnson explained.
“Is this a D Rank dungeon?” I asked.
Johnson nodded “yes it is. It’s on the lower end but it is still classified as a D Rank. If you clear this with ease then I will let you rest and we will go to another to truly test if you are ready” Johnson said.
I shrugged before walking forward.
Advanced Qi Cloak covers my body protectively. 6 Dire Wolves soon appeared.
A few seconds later their bodies were strewn across the floor. Some had their heads caved in whilst others had deep cuts in their bodies.
I simply carried on walking. These wolves were all Knight Tier 3. I was 5 tiers above them. Killing them was child's play at this point. I didn’t even have to use any martial arts.
Four more groups were killed. 6 wolves, then 5, then 7, then 6.
Soon I found myself in the arena. 24 wolves surround the big white furred alpha.
This one was much bigger. We had stopped with the hunting of this dungeon which meant the Alpha had time to gather some strength. It was King Tier 2.
I could also sense that some of the wolves were Knight Tier 4.
This might actually be fun.
I smirked as I ran forward. The horde of wolves charged towards me.
A blood bath ensued. My fists snapped out around me. One wolf jumped at me getting a punch to the face in response sending its dying corpse slamming into 3 other wolves.
The fight continued. It was easy. Laughably so.
At some point the Alpha had joined in. But then I just activated the Sharingan fuelling it with my Mp.
This made the fight similar to a leisurely stroll through the forest. I walked through the hordes of wolves, ripping their bodies to bits with kicks, punches, grapples and throws.
Soon I stood relaxed, not even a scratch on me in front of the Alpha who was bloody and beaten. I finished it soon after. An axe kick slamming its head into the floor.
I had become quite fond of the axe kick. It was very powerful, difficult to land in a straight fight but boy did I love landing one.
Achievement Completed!
Defeat a D Rank Dungeon by yourself!
Rewards = 5 Gacha Tokens
Huh. I never really thought that would be an achievement so I never tried it. I did never get a Gacha Token from clearing it before so I just assumed I never would.
Well that’s something to remember for the future. I assume there would be more for each other rank. I’d have to try it out in the future.
I also managed to get halfway to the next level.
And I got WSRSF to 65 which gave me a new technique.
Piercing Fang - With their trained fingertips, the user can hit the smallest weak points with single hits of incredible accuracy. This move is known to be smooth like water but powerful enough to destroy rocks with unparalleled destructive power.
I hadn’t gotten one in awhile so it was good to see.
Soon we were on our way to a new dungeon. An average D Rank Dungeon or so I was told.
It was a cave similar to the Dire Wolf one. The ceiling was oval shaped. Only this time it was much darker. It went down and so the light from the sun didn’t reach inside as well.
Johnson simply tossed a stone at me. I recognised it.
I held it in my grip. It was a glow stone. Click the button and it would emit light.
A smirk crossed my face as I tossed the stone back to him before turning around and closing my eyes.
Johnson was confused but he just shrugged.
I opened my eyes, revealing the 1 Tomoe Sharingan.
I still hadn’t gained a second Tomoe even though I am using it a lot more now.
It was at level 7.
I moved forward keeping my eyes peeled. That was when I saw it, a faint trace of Mp much deeper in the cave. I narrowed my eyes.
It was coming closer though.
My eyes widened as I bent my back backwards. Watching the bolt of lightning sail over me in slow motion thanks to the Sharingan.
I watched Johnson calmly slap the bolt aside. Whatever fired that had aimed to take out me and Johnson.
I dropped into my stance as I stared at the shadows deep in the cave. The Sharingan gave me night vision but it wasn’t perfect. And it was very dark down here.
Abnormally so. I soon saw the creature that attacked us. It was flanked by three more of its kind.
They growled and bared their fangs at us. Johnson proceeded to move further back so they focused on me.
I narrowed my eyes at them. They were normal sized wolves except their fur was a deep black colour. They had blue streaks of fur going across their body.
“Lightning Wolves” Johnson helpfully supplied.
“No shit” I mumbled which caused Johnson to let out a small laugh.
I waited for them, it may have been a bad idea but I was hesitant to engage in direct combat. I had no idea of their capabilities after all.
“Johson?” I asked “yes?” he asked back. “No matter what you see me do here, you cannot tell anyone. I may have to pull some of my tricks out of my sleeve here and father would be very mad if you revealed them to others” I said, keeping my gaze on the wolves.
They had stopped stalking towards me, intent to let me make the first move. They were obviously much smarter than those Dire Wolves.
“Okay, I will keep everything I see here to myself unless of course it’s a threat to my well being or the people of the village but I doubt it will be”. I shrugged at his answer.
I let out a sigh “okay since you aren't doing anything I will” I spoke to the wolves who all tensed seemingly capable of understanding what I was saying.
I charged forward with Qi Step. Bringing my hands up into a hand sign, I split my Mp into two, a puff of smoke beside me revealed a clone.
I shot forward. My clone running behind me. He had my memories and so he knew the plan.
As I expected, lightning flashed around the jaws of three of the wolves. Three lightning bolts shot forward at me.
I slid to a stop and raised my arms. I had plenty of time to do so since the lightning bolts were as fast as actual lightning.
I knew that because they were exactly the same as a Lightning bolt spell. Sofia had taken up learning the Lightning element for her magic.
She loved running around the outskirts of the mansion throwing lightning bolts at the trees.
I activated Hardening on my arms as the lightning bolts slammed into my guard. Qi Block and Hardening negating all of the actual damage.
The blast created a cloud of dust that my clone rushed through, slamming a kick into the front wolf, sending it crashing into the right wall.
As the left wolf went to bite my clone, I Qi Stepped to his side and slammed a front kick into the side of its face.
Sending it careening into the wolf at the back. Causing both to tumble to the ground.
My Clone dispelled as it failed to dodge a bite from the right wolf. It had lightning coursing around its body.
It was much faster than before. I felt the rest of the Mp the clone didn’t use enter my core as I raised a hardened forearm.
The wolf bit into my arm, its teeth shattering against the Haki. Qi Counter dealt some significant damage to the wolf's head. I finished it by straightening out my hand like a blade and then jabbed it into the wolf's gut.
I dropped its lifeless body. The last two wolves had gotten up after I had kicked one of them into its friend.
I charged them, catching them off guard. They attempted to use their lightning cloak but they didn’t have time. My knife-like hand stabbed into the neck of one of them, slicing their throat apart before I jumped at the other.
I grabbed its body, picking it up before slamming it head first into the ground. I then pressed my body onto it before slamming multiple punches into its head until it was nothing but paste.
I slowly got up stumbling slightly from the adrenaline as I let out a sigh “Average! This is fucking average!” I said with annoyance as I turned my red eyes towards Johnson.
“Yes, this is average. The normal wolves are all King Tier 1 to Tier 2” Johnson explained “Their lightning cloak which enhances their speed and their lightning bolt which gives them a ranged option are very powerful abilities” he explained.
“I am not going to be able to do this by myself but I will still try. I have to push myself after all” I said with a smirk.
My heart was beating hard in my chest. These things were strong but so was I.
