A Nerfed Gamer in Avia Chapter 12 - An E Rank Dungeon!

The next day I went down to the guild and got my licence before returning home. It was a card. It had my name, a picture of my face that I had to get updated every year and my rank.

It also had my class which I put as Brawler. It also said my cultivation tier which updated as it went up and finally the clan section which was blank for me.

Clans were basically guilds from my old world, mmorpg guilds I mean. They were groups of hunters that all worked together. There were many benefits to being in one and very few cons.

The next few days passed quickly, I spent that time conversing with Mirko as she said I could call her as well as training father and Damien.

Mirko wanted to relax for a while to think on things whilst she customised her pocket dimension. Also yeah the system gave each companion their own pocket dimension which was insane.

Soon I found myself waiting at the front of the mansion with my mother and father. We were waiting for my new teacher.

Soon we saw a woman slowly walk towards us. She was tall, around 6ft. She had long flowing black hair that easily reached her waist. Two bright blue eyes peered at us analytically. She had two long pointed ears that poked out to the side. Elf ears. Her skin was pale and smooth and she walked with a grace unseen in humans.

As she stopped in front of us, she smiled at my mother and slowly gave each of them a bow, mother and father copied her before mother and the woman moved forward and gave each other a hug.

“It’s good to see you Kearla” mother said with a smile as they parted.

“You as well Alina” Kearla’s voice was soft and pleasant to the ear, it sounded regal and posh.

Kearla then turned to me and moved forward “and you must be young Benjamin” she said with a smile.

“Benjamin this is Kearla Fenrona, an Elf and a Godly Tier 4 Mp User” mother explained.

I smiled and went to bow but I was stopped by Kearla as she kneeled in front of me so our eyelines were on the same level.

“You need not bow young one, that is something only close friends do, we are not either yet. As your mother has said I am Kearla Fenrona and I am to be your Mp Teacher” Kearla said with a sweet smile on her face.

“If you would like we can begin immediately” I nodded excitedly as Kearla stood up.

“We will leave you to it then, Benjamin you know what room is Kearla’s so please take her there once you are done and don’t be late for dinner” mother said seriously before they both left.

I was left with Kearla. She immediately gestured for me to follow, we then walked into the forest, finding a clearing.

“I prefer to teach in nature, it is calming and relaxing” she explained as she turned and faced me. She was wearing a black robe, a wooden staff with a blue gem at its tip hung from her back.

She pulled the staff off her back and dropped it to the side. It effortlessly floated in the air not touching the ground. Enchantments I guessed.

Kearla then looked at me “How much do you know about magic?” she asked.

I shrugged “bits and pieces, nothing concrete” I said, Kearla frowned at me “concrete?” she questioned.

I sighed, I did this a lot. I said a lot of sayings from my world that people had no idea about. It was annoying.

“Nothing solid,” I explained.

She nodded “let me see your control then” I nodded and immediately reached inwards.

I pulled my Mp out and swirled it around my hand and arm. I was decent, my control was good enough to start learning actual magic or at least I thought so.

Kearla apparently did not “it is okay but it isn’t good enough yet to start learning actual spells, have you ever heard of Mana Manipulation?” she asked and I shook my head.

“It is a form of magic as well as a way to train mp control” she raised a hand. I watched her Mp raise up and form a spear before she gestured with her hand and it flew off, blasting through the trunk of a tree.

“No structuring is needed for Mana Manipulation. It is a good fighting technique and a good training technique although it isn’t really taught among humans much” she explained.

“I am sure you know what structured spells are but I will explain anyway just in case. Structured Spells or Structured Magic is a way to form mana to reach a desired effect. Using your will, a specific way of moulding your mana and/or a chant you can cast a structured spell.

Structured magic takes longer but can have more varied effects. Pure mana manipulation is faster to cast but requires more mana and much better control of it.

Every person must pick an element of magic they wish to specialise in, it is better to learn one element and when you get proficient in that one element then you can go to the next one. Have you decided on yours?” she asked.

I hummed in thought “No not yet, I was hoping for some help with that, I need one that excels at ranged combat, I can cover my defence with Qi and my speed so an all out offensive element is my best choice” Kearla nodded at that.

“Then Fire or Lightning is your best choice. They have very few utility spells and almost no defensive spells. They are both strong but I’d go with lightning since it is faster than fire magic but can be harder to learn” Kearla explained.

“You don’t have to pick yet of course that is for the future” she said before she set about teaching me.

“The first Mana Manipulation technique we will learn is a simple ball of mana,” she explained as she raised a hand and formed a ball of blue energy in her hand. It was perfectly round with absolutely no imperfections that I was capable of seeing.

“Also I will not be helping you figure out how to do these techniques. They are easy and if you aren’t capable of figuring them out on your own then you aren’t worthy of my teachings” she said simply.

I raised an eyebrow as I raised a hand and formed an orb of Mp, it was simple. Granted there was some imperfections but It took about 30 minutes for me to sort them all out. Another 30 minutes of me dispelling the mana and reforming the orb for me to be able to make an almost perfect orb.

I stared at a surprised Kearla, it was the most emotion she had shown since she first showed up “your father said you were a prodigy but I had no idea-” shew went to continue but I cut her off.

“It’s not that, you forget I have been controlling Qi for a long time now. I’m an IQU which makes my control over my Qi perfect. I could make perfect orbs like yours with ease. I have experience controlling energies. Mana is different, yes but not by much” I explained.

She shrugged “maybe you aren’t, maybe you are. It doesn’t matter to me. I wasn’t going to stop training you anyway. Even if you were the worst I had ever seen, I just wanted to give you some motivation” she said.

I shook my head “I don’t need any, I have to do something. The thing I have to do, the fact that I am going to do it means my life is on the line. That’s plenty of motivation for me. I need to get as strong as possible so I want you to throw everything you have at me no matter how difficult you believe it to be” I said as I stared at her.

She hummed, interest on her face “you seem to genuinely believe your life is on the line for whatever reason. Fine then, we have one lesson every week since you need as much time hunting as possible because of the tournament so i’ll push you to your limit each day and we’ll see if you can keep up, young Benjamin” she said with a smile.

“But for now I need to devise a plan, we can start on your hunting career tomorrow. Next Monday is our second lesson. Keep practising on that orb. I want it perfect before the next lesson and I want you to decide on your element” she said before we walked back to the mansion.

I led her to her room before I left to mine ‘she was intense’ Rumi grumbled in my head. ‘I am glad to see you are taking this seriously, can’t wait to start kicking monster arse’ she said with a laugh before I felt her cut the connection.

Dinner came fast, and I slept not too long after that. It was about 3 and a half months until the tournament. It was January at the moment, the tournament was in April.

The next day Kearla and I walked I down to the village and then to the guild building. Kearla waited for me outside as I walked in.

It was around noon so the guild was lively with activity. I walked over to the boards at the left of the building. Right in front of the entrance was the reception desk where you could claim rewards and get help.

To the right was a bunch of benches with a bar and kitchen where you could get drinks and food. It was only for hunters.

I moved over to the E Rank board. I would have to level up some more before I could do the rank advancement test.

I looked at the board inspecting the quests posted. One caught my eye immediately.

Dungeon Clear! Urgent!

An E Rank dungeon hasn’t been cleared in a few weeks. This quest is urgent and must be completed as soon as possible.

Reward: 5 Silver Coins

I nodded. 5 Silver Coins was a lot for an E Rank Quest. The currency was simple. Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

100 Bronze = 1 Silver

100 Silver = 1 Gold

100 Gold = 1 Platinum

It was simple and easy to understand.

I knew I was taking this quest but as I took the page off the board I felt someone tap my shoulder “actually kid me and my party were going to do that quest” I heard a man say.

I turned and saw a large man who had an equally large axe on his back. He was King Tier 1 I could tell. He pointed to a table where another 4 men were gathered, all King Tier 1.

They weren’t stronger than me and if anything happened Kearla could easily beat them so I shrugged “so” I said simply.

The man looked flabbergasted “If you wanted the quest you should’ve picked the page off the board and turned it in at reception, that’s how this worked. Ain’t my problem you didn’t do that” I said as I walked past the man and to reception.

I smiled at the woman who seemed to have seen what went on and was looking at me in shock “they are all King Tier 1, you know that right?” she said with a surprised tone.

“And?” I asked, she just shook her head with a sigh “I’d like this quest please” I said as I handed her the page.

She requested my ID and then put a stamp of my guild card on the back of the page before rolling it up and placing it in a drawer under the desk, she then wrote down the relevant information on a piece of paper then handed me said piece of paper.

It had the location of the dungeon and what type of monsters were in it.

Soon me and Kearla were on our way to the dungeon. I was reading what type of monsters were in it. I had a backpack on. It had a map in it and a bestiary. A book that detailed the many monsters located around here. Mother had gotten it for me.

It was another Goblin dungeon only this one had Shamans, a chief as its boss and many more Hobgoblins than the other one.

It was close to peak E Rank usually but this one had gone unbeaten for weeks which means the goblins will be stronger.

But they won’t have those bullshit lightning abilities that the wolves had so I was most likely going to be fine.

The Chief was usually King tier 1 and so that meant this one would most likely be King Tier 2. The Shaman is always King Tier 1, it has never been seen higher.

Also this was a double boss dungeon. The Shaman and Chief were the “boss” of this dungeon.

Soon we arrived and I handed it to Kearla who tapped it, covering it in mana as it floated beside her.

I sighed “show off” I mumbled before I started stretching. I hadn’t fought today yet after all so I had to limber up first.

Soon I was walking through a cave. It wasn’t that dark so I had no need for the Sharingan.

I found the first group of Goblins quite easily. One Hobgoblin and five regular ones. The Goblins all had rusty short swords in their hands and the Hobgoblin held a rusty great sword.

I rushed forward, catching the goblins off guard with my speed. They were only Peasant Tier after all. Weak.

I punched one, kicked a second. As the third slashed at me I grabbed its wrist and stabbed the sword into the fourths chest before I snapped the neck of the third and then kicked the fourths head from its shoulders.

The fifth trembled in fear. The Hobgoblin swung at me. I easily ducked before I shoved a hand through its chest before tossing its lifeless body at the fifth.

I walked over to the fifth Goblin who was stuck under the body of the Hobgoblin unable to move and incapable of coherent thought thanks to its concussion. I stomped on its head to finish it off.

There was one thing I disliked about fighting with my fists. How goddamn messy it was.

I was already covered in blood. I protected my face from the gore of course but I couldn’t waste Qi on protecting my entire body.

I let out a sigh as I continued on meeting 5 more groups of the same numbers before I arrived at the bosses arena.

Inside I saw about 20 Goblins, 10 Hobgoblins, one Shaman and one Chief.

The Shaman was an Mp User. It was small, wore ragged robes with a necklace on and a staff held in its hands.

The Chief was a large muscled green humanoid. It was a Qi user.

The Shaman and Chief were both much more intelligent than the regular goblins and the hobgoblins combined.

So they immediately sent their forces charging at me. The Shaman sent a bolt of fire at me as well.

I side stepped the bolt of fire before activating the Sharingan. I straightened out my hands and held them up like knives. As the horde closed in I let out a breath and then charged.

Using my massively superior physical abilities, I carved my way through the group. Sending bodies collapsing all around me.

I managed to push my way through the horde. I shot forward at the Shaman intending to get rid of the ranged fighter as fast as possible.

I used hardening to slap away a bolt of fire before I arrived in front of the Shaman. I frowned as the Chief jumped in the way of the Shaman holding its fists up and roaring at me.

I fainted a punch at the Chief causing it to raise its guard covering its face. It couldn’t see me so I slipped around its body before grabbing the Shaman by its neck. Dragging it away before I slammed it into the floor.

It let out a screech of pain. I then silenced its screams by stomping its head into paste.

The Chief looked pissed. It activated its Qi Cloak. It was King Tier 2 but it also wasn’t used to fighting Human opponents.

I shot forward, fainting a punch. It raised its guard to block again so I dropped low and swept its legs. Causing it to crash to the floor.

I went to slam an axe kick down but it was dodged as the Chief rolled away. I really need to stop doing that. I sighed before rushing forward with Qi Step.

I sent a punch at its guard. This time I didn't faint. Instead I empowered the blow with hardening and then with Quad Burst. The result was magnificent.

Haki blew apart the Qi Cloak protecting it. Quad Burst shattered the bones in his forearms and my fist cratered in the front of his skull.

He was dead on impact. The rest of the inhabitants of the cave were dealt with easily.

I levelled up to 14 from that. I did not go up in tier though. I let out a sigh as I started gathering the Chief and Shaman’s ears. The Guild needed something to confirm the clear. They had ways to figure out the time of death and the species of the monster if you have a part of its body.

For Goblins, their ears were fine. I could get more money from selling more of their parts but I didn't need it so I didn't bother. I needed to complete the quest though.

I took a sack out of my backpack, putting the ears inside it before I put the sack in my backpack. I was going to put my backpack back on but I was stopped.

Five familiar men walked into the boss arena. The one in front took off his helmet as I recognised him as the man from the guild who wasn’t happy with me taking his quest.

I raised an eyebrow as they strutted towards me. They stopped a few metres from me. Kearla was behind me watching them with a relaxed face.

They were all Qi users, that was easy to see.

“Hi?” I said questioningly.

“I am honestly surprised, you’re stronger than you look. But unfortunately you pissed off the wrong person, kid”. He said with a smirk as he put out a hand.

“Give me everything you have and I'll let you live,” he said with an evil smirk.

I put out a hand stopping Kearla as she went to beat them “you don’t mind if I kill them right Kearla?” I asked as I glanced at her.

She shrugged “I was going to do it myself so it would be hypocritical if I had a problem with you doing it and I am no hypocrite” she said.

I nodded “I am disappointed with this dungeon. I want a proper fight, if It looks like i’m going to die then obviously help me. I’ll just tell dad I got overconfident and did something stupid and that’s why I have injuries” I said. Kearla nodded.

I turned to the men as I cracked my knuckles “let me put this into perspective for you, she” I pointed to Kearla “is my bodyguard, she is a Godly Tier 4 Mp user. She could kill you all with ease” I said with a smirk.

“Since you seem to not know who I am, let me tell you I am Benjamin Avernus, son of George Avernus and Prince of the Avernus Kingdom. So you are mistaken… it is you who has pissed off the wrong person” I said with a frown on my face.

The man laughed “he is bluffing, there is no way the Avernus prince would be an E Rank” I simply tossed my guild ID at his feet. He picked it up and looked at it.

His smirk dropped, his face paled and he looked horrified. The other men did the same, all of them stepping back in fear.

“I am going to kill all of you, I have no remorse for people like you and I won’t care about getting your blood on my hands. I am not as nice and innocent as my age suggests after all” I said with a frown.

I hated assholes like these, a lot of shit has happened in these past years and even more will come in the future. I need to de-stress and these douches would help me relieve some frustrations.

I dropped into the praying mantis-style stance of WSRSF. Sharingan swirled in my eyes as Hardening covered my hands and forearms.

I glared at them before I shot forward, the battle starting.
