Chapter 10: Chaos is everlasting~

People ran and people screamed. I didn't know how to get them to leave without causing chaos and spreading fear. The day I saw the fear in her eyes was as clear as day. She probably thinks that I no longer love her... Then again, she knows me all too well.

--------------------------

"Allister Vasquez, do you know why you are here?"

Allister stood at the center of a council, chains keeping his arms bound and magic tags that wrapped around his eyes. Even though he was only 8 years old, everyone stared in disgust. Their eyes were focused on his exposed upper body which revealed an upside down cross on his chest.

"You have violated the biggest sin in our world, calling upon dark forces using black magic." (?)

"Kill him now!" "Such power must not exist in this world!" (??)

"it could spell the end of humanity as we know it!" (???)

"Everyone!" (????)

The room got quite when an older woman stood up and illuminated the room with many colors.

"Your highness.." (?)

"Have you forgotten that he is my nephew? If you bash on his name then you are bashing mine. The same goes for my sister." (????)

No one talked back after that and Allister simply stood there with a sullen face. It was this very women that found him, she save him but he felt like that was a mistake on her part. 4 years later, Allister was sleeping in an abandon classroom where he hid from the teachers and guards in order to skip out on his classes. He jumped up when the sound of a door open, only to find his Aunt; A woman in a long black robe, beautiful brown hair and round glasses. At first glance, you'd thing of a book worm when you saw her.

"Oh it's you. So your finally back?"

"Is that the way to speak to the Magico queen?"

"Whatever."

"You've been skipping on your classes. What's up?"

"What's the point? They took away my magic and yet they still teach me how to use it? And everyone just laughs but they don't do it to my face because they're scared of me. The demon boy."

"It doesn't mean they won't give it back. Remember, they said you have to prove yourself and cleanse this demon inside of you."

"I know."

"Does he still come to you?"

"At first but.. Not so much now.. I call it Lupe since it's so worried about others finding out its true name. He comes to me in my dreams. It's hard to distinguish the difference between what's real and.."

"To be this sane after soo long means something. Lupe? It's a girl?"

"I think it has no sex. It takes the form of a girl, and sounds like one. But when it speak through me.. it sounds like a deep demonic like male..."

"Our family would laugh if they knew you were naming demons."

"Ahh yes, the great Vasquez family. I know nothing about our family history. Teach me."

"Stop skipping out on your Spanish classes and I just might."

"Yea, I suck at Spanish. Don't really see the point."

"Dios mío, ¿qué voy a hacer contigo? Si tu abuela escuchara esto, te mataría."

"Thank you?"

She laughed at him which he scoffed.

"Look, I'll go to class but I have nothing left to learn when it comes to magic. It's pointless to keep going and they wont let me go to the library because of who I am."

"That's why I'm here."

She grabbed a piece of chalk and began to write on a board.

"First things first. What do you know about demons? or demon summoning?"

"Demons are from hell and they're evil."

"That much? They really are restricting you from learning more. Alright. Listen up! there are things that a demon can do. Curse you and/or mark you."

"Curse? Mark?"

She began drawing a spider web on the board to separate the two.

"You know about vampires right? It's said that they were once human. They conducted a demon summoning and got cursed. The result? everything a vampire is, can, and/or must do. I should also note that curses are roughly the same as gifts.. depending on how you use it."

"Just vampires?"

"Actually, every one labeled as a 'monster' has been given curses by demons. Our magic, wolf-kins, vampires, and much more."

"What am I?"

"You were marked."

She broke it down into 2 sub categories.

"Being mark consist of a curse as well. The difference is.. What comes first. You see, demons can't actually step into our world nor can a human body sustain them. They're to powerful."

"So, what does it mean to be marked?"

"Since demons are to strong, they cut a portion of themselves and leave it within that human. At first, it's like a parasite, replicating that demon like a clone. In other words? Demonic possession. The curse comes after... That's you."

"And the reverse?"

"They curse you first. Change your very body and soul. For example, a vampire. Right? This new body can sustain theirs, but many factors play in as well. Stuff like sacrifices and black magic."

Allister sat up; he was intrigued.

"The vampires are vessels?"

"Not, necessarily. Some demons don't care about taking the host. But the evilest ones do."

"When that happens?"

"End of civilization. In other words, an apocalypse."

-------------------------------------------------------

"Well, I'm glad we finished our introductions. Our news station got excited about finally being able to host things that are outside our major cities. Don't be surprised if they wish to open branches in your city." (Mabel)

"It's fine by me. The Lost City already has a newspaper company but with this technology? I can expect them to change their way of news." (William)

"I agree as well." (Sophia)

Mabel smiled at their remarks. When she saved this city long ago, she did it with the thought of protecting the one place with a large population. their lives were still primitive but after about 60 to 70 years, they were able to focus their attention on technology. Once Abigail handed out tea for everyone, Mabel finally got down to business.

"William, what happened to the human who was in charge. He's the reason why we're here." (Mabel)

"Yes well, once we took down David... It seemed he got the wrong idea about us and made a run for it." (William)

Bullshit. (Mabel)

"I wonder why?" (Mabel)

"What are you trying to say?" (William)

"Out of the only nobles left, you're the only one who seems angry about the elder's death. Abigail? That I can understand but I know the girl knew that their way of doing things was always going to be their downfall. I've already gave word that I was able to receive her families blood from their old estate. It seems like you just want the vampires back on top." (Mabel)

William laughed at her statement.

"He wasn't doing anything for us." (William)

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

"Exactly. You claim David was the downfall of your country, but I can relate to his views." (Mabel)

"What view is that?" (William)

"We aren't meant to rule forever. Forcing people's ideals with our immortal mentality? He left the human in charge and you guys decided to play your little games in the dark." (Mabel)

"And you? I can understand why you wouldn't care. Once everything collapsed, you left our city and rebuilt another for these humans. The result? Abandonment. Not to mention your engagement to a demon? " (William)

She didn't reply.

"Yea your sister told us. She was..." (William)

"Don't talk about my sister like you knew her better than me." (Mabel)

"Fair enough. Anything else you want to say?" (William)

"Yes actually. I heard some prisoners escaped. They're not your average humans. If they bleed into my kingdom." (Mabel)

"They won't. I'm dealing with them. It was your niece who broke them out, she planned it all." (William)

"I don't doubt that. She may be wanted in your kingdom but she's free to roam in mine." (Mabel)

Mabel finished her argument with William and turned to Sophia.

"Sophia. How is your kingdom dealing with all this?" (Mabel)

"Fine?" (Sophia)

"Really? Your elders aren't immortal, but they've lived long enough to know our history. We have humans who can use magic or have the potential too" (Mabel)

"They will be accepted at our school and normal humans can live there too." (Sophia)

"What about half humans? vampires?" (Mabel)

Sophia looked at her with irritation. It wasn't wrong for Mabel to be worried, the Magico kingdom discriminated on non-magic users. Especially half humans that are born with different traits that wasn't external magic.

"We're still changing the curriculum, but they will have a fair chance at our best schools but if not? we have other academies." (Sophia)

"That's all I needed to know. Oh yes, William. When will you be leaving?" (Mabel)

"As soon as possible. I would like to reach my families old estate so I'm thinking... Tomorrow?" (William)

"I'll have a vehicle ready. Now let's get to the numbers. Abigail!" (Mabel)

Her maid came in with paperwork and placed it in front of Mabel, as well as copies for everyone else.

----------------------------------------------------

Underneath the palace, Allister was receiving his meal for the day in the cafeteria. He sighed at his tray which contained bread, beans, and a carton of milk. Once he sat down, another prisoner came by to grab his milk and walked away.

"I'm sure that milk taste like shit anyways."

"What was that? You say something new kid?"

"I was just talking to myself. You can leave."

"You better watch how you speak. Sleep with one eye open."

"What? did you say something?"

"Bastard."

Once he got to his cell. His cellmate spoke to him.

"You should be careful. You don't want to anger that guy. You know what they call him?"

"I don't care."

"Skull crusher."

"Skull crusher?"

"You heard of him?"

"No, it's just a bizarre nickname."

The prisoner laughed and decided to give Allister some advice.

"Look if you want to live down here, I recommend you do what they say. My advice? If they ask you to take in the butt. You take it. In the Butt."

"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind."

I say we knock him out and break out of here.

"A threat is coming; we need to be out there."

Can I finally fight this time?

"Alright."

--------------------------------------------

The night Liz and Kat arrived; they purchased a hotel for the night. It was the first time Kat ever slept on what she considered to be nice bed in a long time. They walked down the street and Kat couldn't believe that such tall building could ever exist.

"You really are a caveman."

"Whatever. Can we go downtown?"

"No, not right now. We'll sneak in at midnight when it's less packed."

"Then where are we going?"

" We're going to get new clothes and... I don't know why, but I'm craving ice cream right about now."

"First you had me watch some stupid video about kings and queens and now you're dragging me around so you can buy clothes?"

"Kid, look at yourself. Your clothes are practically torn. That's why those guards stared at us funny. You're wearing my robe for crying out loud."

"I can't help it. My clothes can't handle it when I change."

"Obviously. My uncle forgot to tell you that you need clothes that are enchanted with magic. There are a lot of animal shapeshifters. Sorry I forget your kind are different from those who can change into animals."

"What? there are people who can turn into animals? How are we different?"

"Because your kind started off as wolves. Shifters can usually turn into different animals, but it takes a lot of practice. It's a practice that was lost, the same as Magic users."

"Why?"

"Blame the Magico Kingdom. They... Wait, why am I explaining this to you?"

"Sorry, I can't help it but hey! We're here!"

Kat gave her an innocent smile which Liz replied with a flick to the forehead. Once Kat was done picking her clothes, she came out wearing shorts, a sleeveless turtleneck and coat that reached down to her knees.

"Well?"

"Fresh, very fresh kid. Now, ice-cream time."

Throughout the day, Liz showed Kat around. Explaining how the large city survived due to her aunt and everyone else.

"I know I ask to much but is it true that Allister betrayed her? Aren't you mad?"

"No, they'll be fine, and he didn't betray her. He simply had other things to worry about at the time."

"Like what?"

"Sorry, its personal. All I could say is... The moon had to protect the sun."

"What?"

"Sorry, it's a saying my grandma used to tell me. Allister mom that is."

Liz looked up to the sky, reminiscing about a distant past. Then the pictures of her friends appeared in her mind. She couldn't help but miss them. Her face looked sad for a second, but something interrupted her.

"Hey blood sucker. Your eyes are doing that weird thing again."

"We... have to go."

"Where?"

"My aunt. This city is going to be attacked. Let's move!"

Liz jumped off from the ground and used each building nearby at a foothold in order to get her to the roof. Kat whined and eventually followed suit as they leaped from building to building, towards their location. The city centers.

"I don't understand. Where are they going to attack? How? Aren't we like... on an Island?"

"Were you not paying attention? I never said they would attack here. Yes, a bridge is the only way to get here but they also built walls surrounding the outer cities, similar to the Lost City in order to give themselves additional time to set defensive counter measure."

"And?"

"People still live out there. Even outside the walls consist of lower-class civilians but that's the thing... they're only going for the walls."

"Something that big?"

"We need to hurry."

-------------------------------------------------

Back at the palace, Mabel saw William off as he and his party used their new teleportation door to reach another city on the other side of the country. After words she had a small tea party with Sophia, Milly, and Abigail.

"Sophia, why did you lie about Milly's real identity?" (Mabel)

"What?!" (Sophia)

Sophia choked on the tea she was slurping down.

"We know who she is. Don't worry, she isn't a wanted person. I'm just glad she's alive." (Mabel)

"..." (Milly)

"Your mother was an amazing person. A friend." (Mabel)

"I see. I wish I could say that I remember her, but I don't. The only person I ever recognized as a parent... is Allister." (Milly)

"She knows my lady." (Abigail)

"Knows what?" (Sophia)

"That Allister is here. In fact, He's right below our feet." (Mabel)

"What!" (Sophia)

"Don't bother Sophia, the entrance isn't through here. It beneath us but the way in changes locations every time." (Mabel)

"You know he didn't do anything bad. He..." (Sophia)

"Yes. I know very well about the accident 15 years ago. Abby and I were there. I know that our research facility was infiltrated by a cult specializing in black magic. A group he and I thought died out years ago." (Mabel)

"So.." (Sophia)

"I don't care if he left me on my wedding day in order to save you even if the city wants justice." (Mabel)

"How much do you know?" (Sophia)

"About the great fire that happened over a hundred years ago. How could I not? The magic you released could be felt from the other side of the world and you almost killed him because of it." (Mabel)

"I know." (Sophia)

"Don't worry. I'm not mad at you either. Do you love him?" (Mabel)

Everyone made a surprised face at her bold remark.

"I do." (Sophia)

"Lady Sophia..." (Milly)

"I see. Don't worry. The crimes he's facing is because of the beef he has with the long-standing families here. They still have some things to settle with Allister. In about a few seconds, Liz will bust in here to justify Allister's actions as well." (Mabel)

She sipped her tea at the same time Liz busted through the window crashing into the table as she slid on the ground.

"Aunt Mabel!" (Liz)

"I know, but there's nothing you can do about it." (Mabel)

"Elizabeth. Why do you have a mut with you?" (Abigail)

Abigail pulled out knives from her dress as soon as Kat caught up. Liz instantly jumped at her and gave Abigail a bear hug.

"Don't aunt Abby. She's not a bad person!" (Liz)

"What are you doing?" (Abigail)

"I couldn't help it. I just missed you so much." (Liz)

Abigail blushed and got flustered.

"You... You did?" (Abigail)

"Wow, she got you Abby. Anyways, like I said..." (Mabel)

"No. I'm not here about Allister. It's your city wall!" (Liz)

Just as Liz was about to answer, a guard came rushing in. He informed them of a call they received about the dead their walls.

"They're running?" (Mabel)

"More than just that mam." (guard)

----------------------------------------------------------

A few moments later Guards were shooting down the dead from the top of the wall. As they rushed, they used their bodies to pile up on each other.

"How is there so many? How did we not get word of this?" (Soldier 1)

"I don't know, we lost communication with the outer post!" (Soldier 2)

"Everyone! listen up! back away. Our mages are here. They'll take them out! (soldier 3)

While they moved from their spot, in the abandon city on the other side of the wall, three white hair individuals were standing on top of a roof watching the show.

"Looks like they brought out their mages." (Daniel)

"Yea, I sense them too." (Ruby)

"That should be enough bodies, Daniel. Can you blow it to hell?" (Ericka)

"Yea, it's going to take a lot of focus though. I'm going to be drained after this." (Daniel)

"Don't worry about. We won't be entering. We're just here to test your abilities and send a message we're at it." (Ericka)

"Here goes nothing!" (Daniel)

"What are you going to do Ericka?" (Ruby)

"I'm going to meet someone. I can feel his connection." (Ericka)

"Who?" (Ruby)

"My brother." (Ericka)

Is she serious? If she sleeps... She'll be vulnerable and then. He'll come out. (Ruby)

Ruby made a worried face and during that time, Daniel was calling out to her.

"You're going to miss it!" (Daniel)

All of the bead that were smashed together began to light up. What came after was an explosion so big the cracked the wall, forcing a portion of it the crumble down. The aftershock caused a small earthquake, although it was big enough to destroy building, it caught every one's attention.

----------------------------------

Allister did you feel that?

"How could I not. Time to go"

Allister took out a paper tag and threw it at the wall. Once his roommate freaked out, Allister knocked him. What followed after caused the door and his collar to malfunction.

"We have an escapee!" (Prison guard 1)

"But that commotion earlier?" (Prison guard 2)

"The last thing we need is prison escaping. Our priority is keeping this place secured!" (Prison guard 1)

Once they found Allister, his body vanished. he passed right by them, making sure to knock them out on the way. His body came to an abrupt halt when he found a dark skinned man with a cowboy hat, smoking.

"Allister."

"You've ground up. Aaron. I don't see your older brother."

"He went help with the problem outside. So today, you're dealing with me."

"We don't have time for that. We have to help."

"What I want, is your head."

"I promise we'll have our match later. Please, with my abilities. I can help. You know that."

Aaron thought about it for a second, but he wasn't wrong. He didn't care about his abilities, but he felt like it would be more useful to use his power to help people.

"Until next time."

Allister ran past him, He later found his stuff and got changed. Once he found the entrance, Allister used his tags to escape the magic door.

Why didn't you just fight?

"Are you kidding? One of the Short Fuse Brothers? That would take forever, and I know I wouldn't have escaped unscathed. Anyways, we need to be at our best."

Why?

"For your fight."
