POV: Azrail Diggory
It was dark in my room, I laid in bed with my mind in absolute chaos. The files I read about the other major races were to blame for this.
"How..... Just how in the world is that possible? It's no wonder information about them is mostly classified, THIS IS INSANE!" I screamed out loud in my room, the information was so absurd I couldn't even talk to myself in my head. It had to be said out loud.
"If they go to war with us and invade we are screwed..... Even now I still can't comprehend how we made it out of the war without going extinct. Do those idiots truly think the younger generation can save us? HAVE THEY LOST THEIR FUCKING MINDS?!"
My mind was in shambles, the intel I received came from battle reports from the great war. This meant all the intel was basically what happened during these battles and small skirmishes.
The level of detail that was in these reports though were second to none, they described the battlefield so perfectly that I could even picture the events happening.
What I was able to understand was simple, the Elves were anomalies. They were a threat, a threat so large that even having them as allies was terrifying.
I was fully able to comprehend why we hated them so much. They look at us the same way us humans look at insects. We are a lower life form to them, basically there's no shot in hell peace can be achieved.
"We either slaughter them or they slaughter us, forget about the academy it won't matter once they decide to declare war on us. We shouldn't be sending our talents to the academy, we should be preparing them for a war."
I started to feel quite tired, it seemed like I hit my mental limit for today and passed out on my bed.
After a few hours I woke up to the annoying sound of my alarm. I immediately got out of bed to shut that thing up and exited the room. I had decided to go to my instructor's office right away since I needed to hear his actual thoughts on this situation.
Without wasting any time, I arrived in front of my instructor's office and opened the door to see him already sitting on the couch with his eyes closed.
Before I could even sit down the man already started to speak. "Judging by your heart rate I can see you found about how the Elves truly are. You're correct they are complete fucking monsters and yes you are correct being allies with them is nothing short of a pipe dream...."
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
"Then why the hell should we send our talents to the academy? I understand the opportunity is great, but the Elves have the capabilities to drive us to extinction!"
"I have no idea Azrail..... honestly none. To be frank, this operation doesn't make much sense to me at all. All you have to do is your part of the mission, let the adults handle the rest."
"Let the adults handle the rest? How the hell am I supposed to do that when you fucking clowns don't even know what you're doing!"
"..... Azrail calm down, just because I don't know what we are planning doesn't mean the ones making the actual decisions are as lost as me. This doesn't just involve Volestia as well, the other Human nations are also in on this meaning it has to hold some type of grand value. Just do your damn job shit stain."
"Well, its fucking hard to when I can't see something good coming out of this."
"Tell me about it, let's just focus on training for now. We don't have much time left and when you study those files don't focus on their physical capabilities. You'll get to see those when you're at the academy, so don't waste time on that."
"Yes I know already, well then what are you going to have me do?"
"It's actually pretty simple, we are going to have you sit in the middle of a forest while blindfolded. Don't make that face and hear me out, animals are actually quite good at observing. Not only that but some are extremely good at masking their presence, so I believe this type of training could heighten your awareness.
I should also mention you will only be allowed to use Ki, not mana. This will have you rely on your actual senses rather than mana. You will be doing this for ten hours without any breaks. I will bring you food to eat when I feel like it."
I decided to actually think about his training proposal, it did sound like it would work but was it the best option was my question.
'Who cares at this rate... I have little time anyway to actually improve anyway so I might as well follow his lead without complaining. The most important thing is to remember those files about the battles. I need to see which humans were actually special enough to contend with Elves and implement their skills into my arsenal.
I noticed that not all the battles were lost and some humans did certain things which I didn't think of before. I need to cram information inside of my skull in these few days, this is a must.' After finishing this long thought, I told my instructor to get started and we started to walk to his car.
I didn't speak nor ask my instructor any questions, I was merely focused on the goal of improving.
We were driving for quite a while on some back road which seemed like it led to nothing. My instructor pulled over his car and told me to get out. When I got out of the car all I could see were large trees as well as an abundance of bushes. Besides the road that split this forest in half, this was all it was.
We then started to walk right into the forest and didn't stop walking for what seemed to be an hour. The same sights were seen the entire time, I didn't even see any wildlife which surprised me.
"Alright here's the blindfold, don't take it off and keep track of the number of animals you think spotted you. If they try to attack just use a little blood lust and they'll run. Anyways have fun and remember stay in this exact spot the entire time."
I grabbed the blindfold and took a seat on the grass while crossing both of my legs. I put the black blindfold on and couldn't see a damn thing.
'Well then let's see if this actually works.'
