POV: Azrail
Electricity was coursing through my entire body, it felt like my muscles were spazzing out with my injures getting more severe by the second.
The payoff was incredible though, I was able to make it outside of the city in less than twenty seconds from where we were before.
Electricity was one of the easier elements I was able to control, if used correctly it can have many ways to improve your overall combat level making it very versatile. Even though it isn't one of the stronger elements in the world, it has helped me survive many situations.
Once we made it outside of the city, I was finally able to see my surroundings but was shaken to my core when I saw the sights.
'Why have they killed citizens trying to leave the city? What was even the point for such a cruel thing are they insane??! If this reaches the public eyes of the Human domain another war will break out!' I yelled in my mind when laying my eyes upon the massacre that's taken place.
Bodies were littered all across the sandy lands with blood everywhere I looked. Cars were destoyed and on fire with some even being implanted into the ground, so you can only imagine what the bodies looked like.
The roads which lead to the city were also completely destoyed, nothing but craters could be seen which were filled with blood.
This country was mostly desert and quite a hard one to survive in already.
This country itself is a backwards one, their technology is laughable and the government had ancient beliefs. This is the reason so many terrorist groups and criminal organizations worked here.
It was a complete circus, coming from one of the five Human Superpowers, I knew how good life was outside of here.
That is saying something since I hated my childhood.
Yet here I am witnessing a horrific event that might put the Human Domain in a worse position than its already in. This world isn't simply just mere humans, there are many races, with most being superior to us.
'This is inhumane, this is the reason war crimes are set in place so that these atrocities never happen. I've killed many people over the years and have seen what I thought to be hell, but those times were a joke compared to this...' I thought to myself, truly taken aback and sickened by what needed to be done just to conquer a city.
My emotions were getting riled up seeing these sights. I have never in my life witnessed such a scene, I could not even tell what emotion's I was currently feeling. All I could tell was that I wasn't in the right state of mind again.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
The electricity was also getting ramped up as if responding to emotions that were swelling within me. It started to get out of control which caused me to panic, since if I lost control, I knew I would pass out.
Before I could even have the chance to regroup myself, I felt a strong force come crashing down on the back of my neck.
I did not know what happened after that because all I could see was complete darkness.
POV: Captain of the rescue squad
After we made it to the outside of the city, a familiar scene started to appear in my eyes. I have taken apart in many battles and wars, so this was quite familiar to me.
This sight is nothing but a mere joke compared to that world war that happened over more than forty years ago.
The newbies on my squad had quite a different reaction though compared to us older vets. Some hard started to gag while the others were simply in sheer shock not processing how this was possible.
'Such sights are all something you have to get use to eventually, if you want to be in this field that is.' This thought ran through my head when I too remembered having such an eye opening event.
What really caught my eyes what Azrail's electricity starting to get out of control. It seemed even he hasn't seen anything like this which was pretty surprising to me.
I started to wonder what emotions were going through his mind, but before he would get out of control our medic had knocked him out in an instant.
"I'll be carrying him to the extraction point, he's pushed himself enough and we are ahead of schedule anyway." Our medic said in quite a protective tone, like he'd kill anyone who took the child out of his arms.
"Roger that, well let's keep moving since the helicopter is already waiting for our arrival." I said to my team, then we immediately started to make our way to the mountains where a helicopter was waiting.
'Seems like the artillery team finally got to their positions and started to fire away on the outside of the city. After we leave here the ground invasion should begin, hopefully none of our brothers die in that place.' I thought to myself reflecting on how the artillery squads were bombing the hell out of everyone trying to leave and hoping no more of our people had to die here.
We started to make our way through the destruction at our normal pace. If Azrail had kept running in that form, it would probably take us about fifteen minutes. The pace we are currently at will take us only four.
We blitzed our way through everything and had no trouble reaching the helicopter. Our medic made his way to the front then placed Azrail on a stretcher that was in the helicopter.
He sat right beside him with a plain expression on his face while trying his best to heal the new injures he received during the run.
I decided to use my radio and connected it to a special channel where all our solders could hear news or important information from to inform them about the operation.
"All troops be advised, operation Thunderstorm is a success." I stated through my radio and only five seconds after I heard the roaring of our troop's miles away. I assumed them to be cheers considering that speech the chief gave about our operation.
His words were truly inspiring, it was able to give our solders some fire to their wills and help them cope with the mission they are going to be doing.
Our jobs were easy compared to what these men were about to go through. They'll be in the city for days simply killing and attempting to conquer it. Although they might think what they're doing is for the greater good now who knows what that will be like in their future....
