The cries of a baby could be heard filling the halls of the main building of the Draco Castle. No longer hearing the cries of pain from the woman, everyone who was waiting outside the door pushed it open to see the lady who had just given birth and the newborn.
The group entered the room and saw a beautiful dark-skinned woman holding a small baby, swaddled in cloth up to her bosom, feeding the newborn child. Even after giving birth and going through excruciating pain, Elizabeth still looked just as beautiful as ever.
"Darling. You've worked hard," Antonio walked up to his wife and son, ready to hug them both. But as he neared them, he felt a scaly tail wrap around his body and pull him away.
Antonio looked up to Uldrag staring at him with his silver eyes, piercing his soul.
"Don't get too close. She had to give birth without maids for a reason," Uldrag reprimanded him. "During the first 3 months, no one is permitted to touch her or the child."
"Apologies, I forgot," Antonio apologized but he was interrupted by his wife.
"Don't be so rude, Uncle Uldrag. He was just happy to see that me and our son were fine," Elizabeth reprimanded the much older dragon coquettishly. Even though she was a powerful cultivator, she was nowhere close in age to the dragon before her and treated him like a great uncle or grandparent.
"Fine, fine," the dragon held up his hands in surrender, not wanting to argue with the woman who had just given birth.
"Have you decided on a name?" Vendu asked, curious about the little bundle of joy that had stopped suckling on his mother and was looking toward them with large, curious eyes. Vendu wanted to break the rules and poke the little guy with her finger but she held back the urge since she knew how important the tradition was.
"Hmm. I was thinking of naming him after the 12th Dragoon," Elizabeth looked down at the child who happened to look up at her too. The child had green eyes like all members of the Draco family but there were flecks of silver in it as well. "He has similar eyes to the portraits."
"Jason Draco. Sounds lovely," Terri, Elizabeth's mother agreed with the name while the men in the room grumbled about how she didn't name the child after any of them.
Besides the 2 dragons and Elizabeth's husband and mother, her father, sister, brother, uncle, aunt, and another dragon were all present. Everyone was there to celebrate the child's birth but once they were sure that Elizabeth was fine, they all left her alone to bond with the child.
"Gwaa!" Jason called out to his mother, sticking his little hands up and trying to grab the necklace around her neck. Elizabeth blocked his needy hands with a single finger, tricking him into gripping it instead of the necklace.
"Hehe, not yet, little Jason. You can only get this necklace when you turn 21 and become the true heir of the Draco Clan," his mother denied him, forcing him to settle for her finger. Jason instantly forgot the necklace he wanted to chew on, now loving the finger that he could pull against but not move at all. However, after pulling a few times and getting no reaction, Jason gave up and began to look around the room.
To the infant, the room seemed pretty bare. There were very few shiny things that he would find interesting. Most of the art and fabrics were darker shades which looked boring in the eyes of the child. Even the crib set up for him was made from darker wood and the blanket inside was nearly black.
There were two more beside the door the rest of the family entered and exited from. One led to a private bathroom and the other was to a storage room. Since she could not have any physical contact with others or items touched by others for the next few months, Elizabeth could only use the items stored inside the room.
Once Jason got bored from looking around the room, he turned back to his mother's finger which he had regarded as an enemy. The infant and finger dueled for several minutes until the former grew tired from their bout and called a ceasefire so he could rest.
Elizabeth watched her son fall asleep with a small smile, glad that her son was so energetic. She stood up and walked over to the crib before placing him down and placing a diaper and shirt on him. Once he was dressed, she put a blanket over his body and returned to her bed to rest.
The next month was spent with Elizabeth and Jason spending all their time together either bathing, eating, playing, or sleeping together. The woman teased Jason with magical displays that captivated his attention and subtly demonstrated she was a powerful Hunter. She was a 7th Circle Mage and the current Dragoon of the Draco Clan.
When the month had finally ended, Elizabeth walked into the storage room and pulled out the chest with the number '1' engraved above the lock. It was time for Jason to perform the first test as a child of the Draco Clan.
When Elizabeth returned to the bed, she opened the chest which revealed over 20 different toy versions of weapons that would fit in the hands of an infant. She placed them all in a big circle on the bed, leaving space in the middle for Jason.
The Draco Clan members were famous for core 3 techniques as the most powerful human clan. The first of those techniques was the Soul Weapon technique.
Members of the clan would never rely on blacksmiths or enchanters to create their weapons, instead summoning weapons from their souls that would grow with them in power, adding their own enchantments and special abilities that suited the user's fighting style.
The first test would determine what weapon Jason would summon.
Elizabeth grabbed Jason from his crib and placed him on the bed. in the middle of all the toys.
"Alright, Jason. Go ahead and choose which one you want to play with. You can keep that toy," Elizabeth promised her son with a smile, her eyes looking at the bow briefly since that was her weapon. She wanted to be the one who taught Jason how to use his weapon and the different techniques that she knew. She couldn't focus on it though since the test was supposed to allow the child to pick the weapon of their own volition.
Jason looked around at all the toys and smiled when he saw one in particular. The infant crawled over to it and picked it up before swinging it around a few times.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Elizabeth laughed when she saw that her son had picked up the poleaxe. 'Guess that means Vendu will train him,' Elizabeth thought jealously. Jason would be able to receive the personal training of one of the Dragons which was excellent but she still wanted to be his main teacher as Jason's mother. The emotions she was going through were very complicated at the time.
With the test over, Elizabeth collected all the other toys with her magic and placed him in the best before putting the chest back into the storage room. She then took a piece of paper and pen before writing the results and slipping them under the door. Though they couldn't leave the room or get anything from outside, Elizabeth could still send things outside of the room.
As soon as the paper went under the door, Elizabeth felt several individuals unleashing their powers from the other side in full force. The woman laughed, guessing that they were all fighting over who got to read the note first.
And when she felt the aura of a happy dragon, she was sure that Vendu had figured out that she would be the one training Jason.
The next month went by similar to the first, but the 19th had a new toy to play with. Jason loved to swing his poleaxe around, striking the bed, crib, walls, and his mother on one occasion. But after getting a few swats in his butt, even the infant's young mind knew that he should no longer hit his mother with his toy.
When it hit the end of the 2nd month, the 2nd test would begin.
Elizabeth returned to the storage room and pulled out another chest, similar to the first one. Only this chest, had a 2 on it instead of a 1.
Elizabeth brought the chest to the bed and took the 6 blocks inside before placing them in a circle again. Each represented an element and would determine Jason's primary element. Once all the blocks were on the bed, Elizabeth placed Jason on it and let him choose which block he wanted. Each one was wooden and had a different symbol painted on each side.
"Which element do you want, Jason? Pick which one you want and you can get a lot of blocks," Elizabeth promised her son.
There were 6 elements that Jason could choose from. Each element determined the type of strength and which magical element the owner would be best at. Since he had chosen the poleaxe, Earth and Fire were both great since the former meant one had greater physical defense and stamina while the latter meant one was stronger.
Jason looked at the blocks before moving in one direction and picking up the Fire Block. Elizabeth was happy to see him pick up the Fire Block but was surprised when he turned around and picked up the Dark Block too.
'Two elements? My son is going to be a genius!' Elizabeth laughed while Jason tried to chew on both blocks, not paying attention to the others.
She packed up the 4 remaining blocks in the chest. Once she did, the two blocks in Jason's hands began to duplicate and two soon turned into 62, 32 of each.
Elizabeth wrote another note while Jason played with his toy weapon, knocking the blocks around before sliding the note under the door. She felt the familiar surge of auras as they fought over the note but paid it no mind as she picked up Jason and began praising him.
"My little genius. Not only will you have two elements but also have one of the superior elements," she said between the kisses that she rained down on his chubby cheeks.
Of the 6 elements, Dark and Light Elements were considered superior. Users were all-rounders in combat, superior to other elements in 3 of the 4 major aspects of combat, only losing out to specialists such as Fire in strength but beating Water, Wind, and Earth in that aspect. They were also known for having superior reflexes and 6th senses.
Jason and Elizabeth spent the 3rd month together just like the first two, though Jason was starting to get more energetic. He only slept around 15 hours instead of the initial 20 from when he was first born.
When the final day of the third month came around, Elizabeth brought out one more chest from the storage. This was the final test and the one that only the heir and next Dragoon of the Draco Clan would go through.
Elizabeth placed 3 vials that each contained blood inside of them. They were placed in a triangle on the bed before Jason was placed in the middle. This was the most important test that Jason would have to go through and could truly be called a trial.
Jason looked at each of the vials curiously. None of them looked different from each other but even someone as powerful as Elizabeth could feel the power coming off of each of them.
Each of these was a vial of blood from the 3 dragons who lived in the Draco Clan and had formed contracts with them. These vials were the key to the Draco Clan's most powerful technique and the one that only the heir and all the Dragoons knew. By properly absorbing dragon blood using a secret technique only the clan knew, its members were able to replicate some of the abilities of dragons as well as increase their physical and magical abilities.
Many others had tried to copy this technique but their version could only be used by slaying dragons and bathing in its blood. Even then, the result was far weaker than what the Dragoons were capable of.
Jason looked at the different vials of blood around him, all exciting him. Dragon blood had a unique effect on humans, especially those of the Draco Clan.
Jason crawled over to the vial that held Vendu's blood and picked it up, placing the item in his mouth. Elizabeth nodded, thinking it was fitting that he chose his teacher's blood. When he crawled over and put Kirsa's blood in his mouth too, she was shocked. And when he reached over for Uldrag's blood to put in his mouth, Elizabeth was stunned.
'H-h-he picked all 3? Only the 1st was bold enough to do that and he was an adult with 4 circles,' Elizabeth thought to herself.
Knowing she couldn't change anything, Elizabeth brought the empty chest to the storage closet and wrote another note. She passed it under the door, not even paying attention to the surge of auras. She had an important task to do.
Elizabeth walked to the bed and took each vial from Jason's mouth before uncapping them. She then used her magic to pull the blood from them into the air, forming a triple helix with the dragon's blood.
Jason, who was about to cry from having his new toys taken from him, watched his mother's magic show in amazement, not taking his eyes off the blood in the air. When he saw the blood spiraling, he wanted to touch it but it was too far. He then saw all the blood being condensed into a tiny ball the size of a fingernail.
Elizabeth looked at her son with pity. "I'm sorry, wyrmling. Just know my fire for you burns hotter than anything else," Elizabeth told her son with a sad smile. Elizabeth lifted Jason into the air before taking off his shirt and leaving him in only his diapers. She then pressed the drop of blood against Jason's chest where he absorbed it through his pours while chanting in the language only known to dragons and the Draco.
The drop passed through his skin and entered Jason's heart. When the blood entered his heart, Jason cried out in joy as he felt his entire warm up slightly. But as the heat began to get higher and higher, Jason's cries turned to those of distress and pain.
Elizabeth looked at her son with pity as she heard his cries but she had to steel her heart. He was the heir of the Draco Clan. He needed to suffer at the moment so he would not suffer in the future or be the ruin of the powerful clan.
Soon, the effects of the dragon blood took control. Elizabeth was no longer holding Jason up but his body was being levitated by the pure power that the blood held. She continued to chant as two amethyst, ethereal dragons made out of mana began to fly around Jason's body. Each dragon constantly let out roars filled with power and prestige.
The ritual continued for several minutes, the only sounds in the room being the dragons' roars, Elizabeth's chanting, and Jason's cries.
"Soretsu Komeli Karsari!" Elizabeth shouted, sending the dragons into Jason's eyes.
Jason let out one last scream as the draconic energy and blood fused with him completely. Both of his pupils turned into slits while his iris turned amethyst, matching the color of the dragons.
Once the energy settled, Jason fell into the bed, no longer conscious. Elizabeth picked up her son and held him against her chest gently.
'You might just be more dragon than man in the future,' Elizabeth mused to herself as she held the baby in her arms. With the ceremony completed, Jason's status as heir to the Draco Clan was set and the world would be his when he accepted it.
