Jason walked a few doors down to see a group of students standing in a circle. He pushed through the crowd to see what the commotion was and wasn't surprised to see that it was between a few noble and commoner students.
"You all should be grateful. We want to rent your room so that we can be closer to one another and are offering you another. Why don't you guys just take the coins and walk away?" a boy with curly brown hair waved his hand dismissively at a group of commoner students.
Jason listened to the other students around him and figured out what was going on.
The boy wanted to have his vassals and followers in the rooms next to him so he was offering to pay off the other students for their rooms. The nobles folded over since the boy was a child of a marquess while the commoners refused to budge out of pride.
"A case of the strong bullying the weak. Seems interesting," Jason said loud enough for everyone to hear him in his same steady voice. He walked out of the crowd and toward the two groups who were arguing.
The son of the marquess felt exhilarated to have Jason stand on his side.
'So it's true that the Draco Clan look down on commoners. I can't believe that I was able to form a connection with the heir just by throwing my weight around a little,' he thought as the smile on his face grew more savage while looking at the commoners. Several other noble students thought similarly and felt like they had missed out on a chance to get close to Jason so easily.
The other group of students looked at Jason in fear. They had asked around and knew that he was someone who couldn't be messed with. Even the school did not dare to pick a fight with the heir of the Draco Clan.
As Jason got closer, he took a green glove out of his pocket and threw it on the ground in front of the marquess's son. When everyone saw this, their eyes widened. Most nobles threw out a white glove when challenging someone to a duel but only the Draco Clan would use a green glove since that was the color of their house.
"L-Lord Draco. You don't mean to challenge me, right?" the boy asked, his voice filled with fear
Stolen novel; please report.
"Of course. I don't like eating someone else's leftovers. I want the fresh meat," Jason explained. "Are you going to pick up the glove or leave it there?"
'Shit!' Adrien yelled in his mind. 'If I pick up that glove, I will have to fight Lord Draco. The entire school would come to see the first duel of the Draco Clan heir. Let's not even think about winning, I would lose face in front of the entire school and never be able to hold my head up when I lose. But if I don't pick it up, I will lose face for my house.'
To not accept a challenge was the most cowardly thing that a noble could do but picking up the glove would be just as bad or worse than not picking it up.
"I apologize if I offended you, Lord Draco. I did not mean to," Adrien tried to apologize and get Jason to take back the glove. Apologizing was the only way he could escape from the challenge without having to decide whether to pick up the glove or not pick it up.
"I don't care about apologies. Just tell me if you're going to pick up the glove or not," Jason spoke indifferently. He wouldn't let Adrien run away from the duel so easily.
"Lord Draco. There is no feud between us. We are going to be classmates for the next 8 years. It's better to have more friends than enemies," Adrien half-threatened and half-pleaded. He knew that he couldn't threaten Jason but he wanted Jason to realize that there was no point being on bad terms with him when they had no feud between them.
Jason tilted his head at that response. Adrien and the other students thought he was actually considering his words when Jason's next sentence broke all hopes of escape for them.
"You think you're qualified to be a friend or enemy? Do you think you can also determine if I have a feud with someone? How arrogant," he commented lightly
Everyone sucked in their breaths. They couldn't believe that Jason had called someone else arrogant after asking those two questions. Still, no one dared to question him. Because he had the right to determine both.
Adrien saw that there was no escape from Jason's wrath. So he did the only thing that he could. He tucked his tails between his heads and bowed his head.
"I apologize, Lord Draco. I will go back to my room now and no longer disturb you," Adrien said before retreating to his room and shutting the door. He didn't have enough courage to stay under the gazes of anyone else any longer.
Jason looked at the closed door for a moment before walking forward and picking up his glove before returning to his own room.
When the door closed behind him, Jason cursed under his breath.
"Damn! Was hoping I could kick someone's ass!"
After letting out his frustrations, Jason sat on his bed and began to gather mana into his body.
'This is the only way I can calm myself when I can't fight someone. I already wanna go home.'
Jason got so caught up in his cultivation that he lost track of time. Before he knew it, it was already time to gather for the welcome party.
