Chapter 7: The Morning

The next morning, some Year 3 students of the Dragon Class went to the first floor to get in some early training but were surprised to see the famous Lord Draco covered in blood and carrying the corpses of several animals.

Each of them froze in shock, not daring to move a muscle. They all looked into his amethyst eyes and felt as if they were being confronted by a magical beast instead of a kid who was 2 years their junior.

Jason slowly walked toward the group but each of them was frozen in fear as he approached. When he finally reached them, each student stopped breathing, afraid that if they were too loud, they would attract his attention.

Luckily, he didn't stop when he passed them by and simply went upstairs to return to his room.

The trio let out a breath of relief when they saw that he was no longer there but each one looked at the others with fear still in their eyes.

"What the fuck was that?!?!" the only girl of the group asked

"A fucking Draco," another one swore, unable to come up with anything else to say

"Did you see what he was carrying? The biggest one was an ogre or at least what was left of one. That means that Draco has to be at least a 2nd Ring Mage," the last one was able to regain his calm the soonest and began analyzing the prey that Jason had caught. "No wonder he was able to take down Lord Cassiel in one blow. Prince Vassas shouldn't hope to be the top student of his year during his time here."

The trio looked at each other and made a silent promise not to bring up what happened. None of them wanted to offend someone much stronger than them by revealing his secrets.

Back in his room, Jason was ripping off the best parts of each of the bodies before throwing them in a pile to one side of his room. He then opened his mouth and unleashed a small torrent of red amethyst flames on them, instantly cooking them all.

After he cooked the parts he wanted to eat, he turned to the other pile of the parts he didn't want and let out another torrent of flames that was much stronger than the first. When the flames disappeared, the corpses were no longer there, not even leaving ashes as evidence that they were there.

When he got done dealing with the leftovers, Jason picked up the cooked portions and began eating all of them, quickly filling up his stomach.

'I'll have to regularly hunt if this school only provides smaller meals,' Jason thought while chewing on the thigh of the ogre. Once he was done eating, Jason took off his clothes and went to the shower to clean up before going to get lunch.

Once he got dressed, Jason went to his door to head to the cafeteria but was surprised to see Adam waiting outside of it, looking like he was about to knock.

"Nice room. I've been the top student in my tower since Year 1 but the best room I got was still a double," Adam commented while walking into the room without invitation. Jason looked at him and asked silently 'Why the hell are you in my room?'

As if he could read his mind, Adam pulled out a brush from his bag and motioned for Jason to sit at the desk.

"Sit down. You can't go out looking like that. You're the heir to the Draco Clan," Adam slightly chided his friend's messy hair.

"Who cares what anyone else thinks? I am the next Dragoon of the Draco Clan. No one would dare comment about my hair," Jason wanted to scoff at Adam's words but he still walked over and sat in the chair.

Adam nodded and began to brush Jason's hair, turning from a bird's nest into a short yet spiky style. When he got done, Adam nodded in approval.

"See? It only takes a minute to get your hair under control. Make sure you do that from now on since your mother and aunt aren't here to do it for you anymore," Adam advised his friend

"Whatever," Jason barely agreed with his words while Adam smirked behind his back. He knew the best way to get Jason to do certain things was to put it in perspective of his clan instead of just himself. Otherwise, it would be a long and difficult battle.

Once he was groomed, the pair left the room together to meet the other members of the Dragon Class on the first floor before they went to the cafeteria to meet up with the twins.

The 4 seniors began explaining to Rachel and Jason that they would have some pretty basic classes since they were part of the Dragon Class.

"Dragon Class students focus on improving their combat strength the most. So besides the 3 basic subjects, you guys only have physical combat and magical combat classes," Cassiel told the pair, reminiscing the days when he only had to take 2 classes.

"That will be your schedule until Year 4. Then, you guys can take electives for further specialties but your first 3 years are meant to help solidify the foundations of all the students, especially the ones who didn't have teachers like yours," Lyra further explained

"I heard that other classes will have 8 classes total, though," Rachel pointed out. "What should we do with all that extra time?"

Ena shrugged her shoulders at the question. "Most Dragon Students either stay in their room to cultivate, use the spare training grounds, or go out into the forest to hunt. For the latter, many do it to either test themselves against things that can actually kill them or to make some coins if they are on the poorer side. Many Unicorn Students need materials for their specialty subjects such as blacksmiths and alchemists needing body parts to use for tests and exams."

Rachel nodded while Jason looked on in boredom. The seniors continued giving the pair some advice on different things that they should look out for. By the time they were done, breakfast was almost over and the duo needed to head to their first class.
