Chapter 6: Dragon Slayer

If there was one type of person that the Draco Clan truly hated, it was Dragon Slayers. They used a technique that was a terrible imitation of their core skill but this was not why the Draco Clan hated them. The Draco Clan owed their rise to the top to dragons and were allies with many lone dragons or packs of dragons.

Jason had personally seen nearly a hundred different dragons in their home since he was an infant, including the three that lived there.

Dragon Slayers would slay dragons and use their blood to gain improved physiques and cultivation speeds. This was bad enough but most of the time, they targeted wyrmlings or used underhanded tactics to slay dragons.

A 6th Year student being a Dragon Slayer was the best example. Even at birth, dragons were comparable to mages with 4 Magic Rings. Most students of the Dragon Class could only reach the 3rd Ring. That meant the student had become a Dragon Slayer relying on superior numbers and underhanded means.

Cassiel and Adam hesitated, knowing that Jason would go and attack the person in question in the middle of the party, causing a huge scene.

"Calm down, Jason. Fighting him here is not wise," Adam advised, already suffering from the headache that the situation created. They knew better than to keep it a secret that a Dragon Slayer was at the school but neither wanted to inform him so soon. They planned to wait at least until lunch the next day.

"He is using the blood of a dragon to parade around this place and act like he is a big shot. What he has done is unwise. What I am going to do is correct the mistake his parents made by giving birth to him," Jason spoke each word in the same, calm tone as before but his two friends knew that this was just the way the Draco Clan acted in public.

'A dragon shows no emotion to others through words, expressions, or tones. The only time a dragon shows any emotion is when they show their true eyes and by then, that means that blood will be shed and lives will be lost. The Dracos Clan members also follow this philosophy,' their parents had told them about it before when they asked why Jason acted so emotionless.

"And he will pay. We can promise you that," Cassiel reassured him. "He will not live till the midterms. But be patient, my friend. We will set the stage for you to make a demonstration out of him. A proper one."

Jason looked between Cassiel and Adam before shaking his head to himself.

"Fine. But if he dares to show himself in front of me, I'm going to slaughter him," Jason compromised as best a dragon could: a temporary truce with a condition that allowed him to break it if he wanted to.

The pair sighed in relief when they saw his eyes turn green again. That meant they avoided disaster, at least temporarily. They both knew that they needed to set things up fast or Jason would kill the other student in the middle of the day or something similar.

The welcome party lasted a few hours before it was finally over. Once it was, the students left by year, with the Year 8 students leaving first and then descending in order.

While the Year 6 students were leaving, Jason made sure to pay Cassiel back in full. When Cassiel least expected it, Jason punched toward him. Being of the same cultivation level, a Dragoon, and a Dark Attribute, Jason was already faster than Cassiel. The element of surprise made it impossible for the older teen to have any chance of dodging.

Jason struck Cassiel in the kidney, sending him to the ground and making him groan in pain.

The other students looked at the scene in shock while Adam just nodded along while sipping his wine.

'He always pays you back. I don't understand why you think taunting Jason is ever a good idea,' Adam didn't understand why Cassiel never learned his lesson and always picked fights with Jason but he would never say it out loud. Having one person that the Draco could take some frustration out on meant one less civilian casualty.

When the Year 5 students were ready to leave, Roberto helped Cassiel to his feet and brought him out of the cafeteria while the latter muttered something about revenge.

Adam and the twins left soon afterward, with Adam reminding Jason about their promise and to meet them for lunch the next day.

The rest of the students soon filed out and went back to their towers where Jason returned to his room and began to cultivate. It was the only way that he could stop that rage that was building up inside of him from spilling over.

'Trust them, Jason. They are your hoard. They know you and know the Draco Clan. That fool that has harmed your kin shall die by your hand and leave a lasting impression on any who dare to think about becoming a Dragon Slayer.'

Jason kept repeating the phrase in his mind, trying to calm himself down but it was barely working. His urge to kill was strong and he was never one to repress his urges. With no other choice, Jason got up and walked out of his room before exiting the tower and walking out the gates of the academy.

Once outside, Jason's eyes turned amethyst and he raised his nose to the air as he began sniffing. He then looked in a certain direction and began walking. No nearby creature was safe as a dragon had begun its hunt.
