Chasing Starlight

Gary flew through the stars and hit something.

This something was a barrier.

A barrier Gary shouldn't have been able to cross, but cross it he did.

He came down like a comet and landed in a field.

Then his bubble popped.

Gary was awake.

He didn't expect to still be alive, but at this point he would take whatever little blessing life would offer him.

Gary darling. Life, for you, is most definitely not a blessing. Why would you ever come back to this chaos?

He looked around and saw a large prairie with grass only just shorter than him.

The wind caressed his face.

The twin suns gave a gentle warmth that he hadn't had the opportunity to feel in a long long while.

For just a moment Gary closed his eyes, and felt at peace with the world, and with himself.

Motion! Life in the grass, uuh besides the grass of course.

A set of claws just nearly missed Gary's throat.

There right there! He could see the eyes of a beast!

A plains goblin. An ugly creature, green hair covered creature with razor sharp claws.

It had rightfully mistaken Gary for prey.

It lunged at him swiping left, right, and center.

Gary dodged right, left, and outwards.

He ran as far in one direction as his legs could take him.

He made his way into a clearing close to a forest.

He finally had a chance to get a good look at it.

"Jesus you're ugly!" Gary yelled.

"You're one to talk!" It retorted before launching into a flurry of strikes.

Gary dodged these strikes deftly until it did something unexpected.

It's hair extend and wrapped around Gary... 's silhouette.

Gary had already made his way half way up a nearby tree.

It screeched, and popped up next to him with a claw reaching straight for his heart.

Gary ceased to be, or he tried to.

Suddenly, the world went black & white. For some reason black chrysanthemums appeared all around him. A large cloud materialized in the sky. A bolt of black lighting came into being. It ripped its way through the sky towards him.

Both Gary, and the goblin were shoke to their core. Gary's soul was nearly extinguished.

"Aiiiieeeeee!" exclaimed the dot.

It acted fast, and preserved Gary's little life once more.

"What in the hells was that!?" the dot screamed. "I need to find a new body right fucking now!"

Gary found himself at the bottom of a tree with a corpse lying next to him. He would have found this weird, but magic tended to make a mess of things so he didn't question it.

He felt dizzy. Somehow, he mustered the energy to search the corpse. HE ruffled through the mass of hair and found: some loose coins, pens, pocket watches, cigarettes, and even a couple of flasks.

Gary was beginning to question the nature of his reality.

He started walking into the forest in a daze before collapsing from pain, and exhaustion.

Gary awoke bound and gagged. He found that unconsciousness was becoming a frequent state of his.

"My king, we have brought this sinner to you" stated one of the two orcs that had just dropped him on the floor.

"So this is the being that murdered my son" boomed the king. He was a massive hairy being wearing a crown, and with green braids covering his whole body. A plains goblin.

"Fuck" Gary thought.

"What do you have to say for yourself?" Demanded the goblin king.

An orc removed Gary's gag. "Um he attacked me first?" He said

"Execute it" ordered the king.

The orcs began to drag him away.

"Wait! Wait, search my pants!" Gary yelled.

"You dare insult the king!?" Exclaimed the an orc.

The goblin king decided to humor Gary. "Search his pants." He ordered.

In Gary's pants they found the chasing starlight skillbook. He had hidden the book under his ass. It would have been noticeable if not for the cloak he constantly wore, and still hadn't washed.

The goblin king inspected the book once it was passed to him. He magnanimously ignored the scent wafting off of it.

"Hmm. Very good this is enough to secure your life." Said the king. " I hereby declare that this individual, whose name is not yet known, is forgiven for ending the life of the 347th prince of the Calassarian Kingdom."

"My name is Gary" Gary says.

"Well, 'Gary' for the service you have just granted this monarch I grant you the title of baronet, and a house of your choosing within this capital." Declared the king.

"What?? Oh uh I mean thank you, your majesty." Replied Baronet Gary.

"Escort him to the property hall" ordered the king.

The orcs picked Gary up and carried him away.
