Chapter 11: Waltz of Ghosts and Storms

"Sahn, get out of here before you get hurt! You're fast but you're no match for that thing! We need to retreat!" Pandora pleaded. Sahn paid her no mind; he only focused on Oasis in front of him. After a moment he noticed Babasha unconscious in its hand. "He's in the way." Sahn said casually gesturing to the priest. Oasis looked at its hand and back to Sahn as if considering Sahn's words before tossing Babasha into some rubble. "You first." Sahn offered. Oasis beat its chest causing thunderous Shockwaves and charged at Sahn. "Sahn move, I'll distract it while you get away!" Pandora yelled over Oasis's booming approach. Sahn ignored her again and casually stepped to the side to avoid the beast and punched it in its side sending it flying into the building he was sitting on earlier. Pandora's mouth hung open in disbelief as she watched Sahn leap on top of the building. He placed his hand on the roof and phased it out and back in sending a small burst of not-air through the building causing it to collapse on Oasis. He rode a piece of the collapsing structure down onto the pile of concrete and steel. "Hey you awake down there?" He called out. Oasis responded by dropping a lightning bolt on Sahn. To Pandora's amazement Sahn was still standing although stunned by the attack. Oasis burst out of the rubble and hit Sahn with a fist as big as he was knocking him back into the street. Sahn recovered just in time to see Oasis's two giant fists descending on him. He raised his hands and caught both fists. The asphalt under his feet cracked from the force of the impact. "Hahahaha not bad beast keep it up!" Sahn pushed Oasis's fist up and threw a punch but quickly phased his fist coating it in not-air. The expelled not-air pushed away the surrounding air so the sound of the impact was delayed but the impact itself blew away the cracked street under him and the surrounding debris along with the priests. Oasis was launched through several buildings and out of the town into a grove of trees. Sahn used his blinding speed to jump over to the grove and land both feet on Oasis's chest plunging it into the ground and creating a small crater. Another lightning bolt dropped from the sky but this time Sahn moved fast enough to avoid it by jumping off Oasis and out of the crater. The bolt hit the slightly unconscious Oasis waking it up fully. It too jumped out the crater on the opposite side of Sahn and roared causing lightning to streak across the sky and large chunks of ice to fall assaulting the grove of trees. "Oh?!" Sahn exclaimed excitedly. A large funnel touched down behind Sahn and the winds began to pull him into it. Sahn chuckled and vanished. Oasis stopped screaming causing the hail to turn into snow and searched the area for Sahn. The tornado howled rotating in place and ripping the trees near it out of the ground. Sahn stood in the astral plane basking in the fierceness of the battle. He eyed his opponent's astral body and decided to finish the fight in the material plane. He gripped a hand full of not-air and phased back where he stood, pointed his arm out at the tornado and opened his fist. The blast obliterated everything behind him carving a ravine a into the landscape and blowing the cyclone away. He showed his opponent his empty hand and smiled, Oasis growled and the two of them charged at each other. Back in the town Pandora and Cortnae struggled to push a slab of concrete off of an unconscious Babasha. The snowfall turned into a blizzard as lightning flashed and thunder clapped in the air above them. "What is going on?" Cortnae asked while pulling Babasha from the rubble by his arm. Pandora held up a steel beam on her own so Cortnae could pull. "I'm not even sure anymore. But you need to get him back to the Sanctuary and get the High Priestess." Cortnae nodded and opened a vortex around herself and Babasha. Pandora pulled her hood over her head to shield herself from the cold as she made her way to where Sahn was. She stood frozen in place stunned by the spectacle of Sahn trading blows with a monster three times his size in the middle of a blizzard. Although she had to question who the real monster was she couldn't deny that there was something beautiful about the way he fought. Even through the blood and blows that persistent smile he wore on his face baffled and intrigued her. She was so enthralled by the battle she hadn't noticed the approach of her mother until she put her hand on her shoulder. "Amazing." Is all Mora said. Pandora turned to see that only her mother came to assist them. "You're alone?" She asked. "I came only to retrieve you but I wasn't expecting this from Cortnae's description." Mora replied. "We have to help him." Pandora pleaded. Mora noticed something in her daughter's tone that Pandora herself hadn't yet realized. "He doesn't need it." Mora focused her gaze on the battle until Pandora followed suit. Oasis could no longer even defend against Sahn's assault its body accepting every blow Sahn delivered until it collapsed. The blizzard died down to a light flurry and the wind stopped all together. For the first time since he arrived in this world Sahn was disappointed. He stood before the fallen god and phased a handful of not-air into his fist. Mora recognized a finishing blow and summoned glowing white chains around Sahn. Instinctively Sahn phased out of them and pointed his closed fist in the priest's direction. Once he realized who it was he phased the not-air back to the astral. "We don't kill them." Mora explained. Sahn looked baffled. "Why?" The sincerity in his voice surprised her. "Although destructive, the Heathen Gods are worshiped by a lot of people around the world for their power. So we seal them into objects so those people have something safe to pray to." "We call the worshippers misfits." Pandora added. "Misfits?" Sahn repeated softly while taking in the information. Mora walked over to Oasis and placed her hand on it. "I've never seen anyone actually go toe to toe with a Heathen God before let alone so thoroughly beat one. Impressive." Mora then spoke words Sahn couldn't understand. After a flash of bright light only a kite laid on the ground where Oasis was. Mora gently picked it up. "Wait, is that?" Sahn asked. Mora smiled and nodded. "Now let's go. I'll dispatch a team to rebuild the town once we get this safely secured." A white vortex opened up around them and they were gone.
