Even though we were three against one in the third epic battle, our opponent was someone with immense power. We could barely touch him, except for a few hits. He could change his position in a second and take control of the battle. However, I noticed something during our fight.
He had no difficulty using his earth power and magic, but every time he snapped his finger, it seemed like he had to wait a certain period of time before snapping it again unless he was in a difficult situation. Otherwise, he would have used that power repeatedly and killed us by now.
I'm sure the others had figured it out too, but it was a matter of when and where to use this knowledge. We had to continue without saying anything to each other because the fate of the war and the kingdom depended on it.
When Shou pointed his sword at our opponent, Wedan created three ice swords to keep up with Shou and gave one to him. Now they each had two swords in their hands. I was going to support them from a distance, but Furon was once again in front of us with something quite crazy.
Aware of the impending sword attacks, Furon used his earth powers to create two earth arms and four earth swords and waited for us to attack him. The battle had begun once again. While Shou and Wedan attacked Furon with their swords, I aimed and shot at Furon from range.
I had no trouble aiming, but it was hard to aim because they were fighting so close. The swords shattered as they collided with each other, ending the sword fight. When the swords and arms they made afterward shattered, Furon was now an open target. However, I wanted him to think I was actually going to shoot him.
As I expected, he teleported himself thinking I was going to shoot him. I knew exactly where he was going. If he thought I was his next target, the only place he would go would be behind me. He took some good damage by stepping on the explosives I had left on the ground beforehand. With smoke billowing around, Shou and Wedan tried to attack Furon from the left and right.
While Shou threw his Shuriken, Wedan released arrows made of ice at the epic. Furon had also improved his senses considerably. He could even see attacks from different places through the smoke and blocked them.
I shot at him with my weapons while Wedan attacked him with his ice in every way. Shou tried to slow him down and damage him many times with his sword without slowing down his speed.
However, the Epic countered all of our attacks.
Wedan threw himself at Furon, swinging his knife-like pointed ice from his upper arm. Shou wanted to support Wedan and was about to attack Furon from above. I was about to fire the last bullets of my rifle.

I thought Furon was teleporting to avoid incoming attacks, but he didn't intend to use his power. He stopped Wedan's ice attack by grabbing his arm and turning it towards Shou. Furon then stopped Shou's sword with ice and aimed a spell at me in the corner. When Shou tried to attack again, Furon blocked it by pulling Wedan in front of him and pushing him toward us. Furon then pulled the earth out of the ground and directed it at us. I dodged the spells and fired my last rifle bullet behind him, but he dodged it by tilting his head to the left.
He grabbed me and threw me hard against the others. We were on the ground, with Furon laughing at us. "This is exactly the fear I was talking about," he said. "Soon I will kill you and erase everyone who came to this war from history."
I didn't know what to do. The three of us had fallen and we had to put an end to it, but every time we stood up we were knocked down again. The third epic was powerful on its own, but I had promised the boy and the others that I would succeed. Desperately searching for my hat, Shou picked it up and handed it to me while Wedan called out from the other side: "Come on, the war isn't over yet." I knew the battle was hard, but it wasn't my style to leave without fulfilling my promise. So I took my hat and stood up, looking at Wedan on my right and Shou on my left. "We will attack together," I said.
I put the rifle on my back and began to distract Furon by firing my other weapons. I kept doing this until we got close. Furon waited for us to approach. When we were close enough, I waited for the others to shoot while pretending to make a sudden attack. Wedan and Shou moved forward quickly and attacked.
Wedan threw his ice, preventing Furon from focusing on me and forcing him to use his magic to protect himself. When Shou threw his shuriken again, Furon tried to stop them. Just then, Wedan and Shou switched places and grabbed Furon's arms.
One grabbed his right arm and the other his left, preventing him from snapping his fingers to teleport. I could have finished him off by firing my gun, but Furon wasn't willing to be defeated so easily. He used his earth power to attack me without looking back. Shou kicked Furon in the head while Wedan began to freeze his arm. In the short time, I had to dodge the earth attack, I managed to shoot Furon in one leg.
Furon tried to get rid of us by gathering all his strength. Using his magic power, he scattered us and freed his arms. He turned his head towards me and knocked me down with soil from the ground, pinning me in place.
I could breathe, but I couldn't move or shoot. Now everything was up to Wedan and Shou. Wedan sent a continuous stream of ice from his hand towards Furon, who responded with soil.
Seeing Shou approaching, Furon teleported to Wedan's side and cornered him with a wall of soil, just as he had done to me. But Wedan still had one hand free and continued to throw his ice. The sudden ice attacks attracted Furon's attention, and Shou seized the opportunity to throw his sword at Furon's head with all his might.
Furon, more cunning than he appeared, knew he was in trouble and snapped his fingers once more to dodge the incoming sword. But what he didn't know was that when Shou gave me my hat earlier, I had secretly given him one of my weapons. Shou and I both knew that Furon would teleport behind him, thinking he was unarmed. And when Furon did exactly that, Furon said "You missed," and Shou fired at Furon's head in one quick shot.
We knew he couldn't teleport many times in a row, so Furon took the bullet in the head before he realized what had happened. He fell to the ground with a dazed expression on his face while we got back on our feet, having managed to defeat the epic.
