13. A Cave

Tian yawned, walking in the forest while it was sunset. Time flies, for him, it only felt like days since he met those three and found a place he could call home. But there was something inside his heart that could never be fixed… it was… nothing important.

Deers! I’ve learned my lesson. He sneered at the Deers. They will fight me, right? That means that I only have to do one thing.

One deep breath in, one deep breath out. Tian held his spear with both hands and ate his lips. With one step outside of the forest, visible to the deers, one of them screeched. It looked to both sides and started to run toward Tian.

He took a few more steps inside and swung his spear. One bit his leg, and another pierced his chest. Tian stabbed a deer and quickly retracted to another.

With one hand he held his spear and stabbed to his right; The left smashed the antler, breaking both his arm and the antler. More deer came exchanging their positions to attack.

Tian kicked up one’s jaw. Dragged one’s mouth and smashed its head.

The deer began to stack against each other and soon one pierced his head, causing him to fall. As a last resort, before he passes out, he throws the spear. He took the two behind his back and stabbed with his eyes closed as he “dies”.

“Eh… I failed…” Tian opened his eyes looking at the soil. Pain engulfed both his legs and arm. Multiple holes were present in his chest and most of his skin was bitten. Another casualty was the loss of his right eye.

Tian struggled to get up as he used his knee as his foot. His left arm broke into pieces as he got back up. One… two… three… four… five… six… seven… eight… He looked afar, and one more… He let a half scoff and fell back down to his back, crushing his legs in the process.

“Ah… it hurts… ha- ha- ha! It hurts… it fucking hurts… ah… I’m finally crying again… how wonderful… it feels so good…”

It took a few days before Tian could fully heal. But right after his body could move with a few holes in his body, he began to transport the deer back to his settlement.

However, it didn’t come without a challenge. He had already transported two deers back while no one was in the empty area, but now it’s filled with deers feasting on their own brethren's flesh.

I guess I should have guessed that they weren’t just herbivores. Tian wanted to just leave his hard-earned spoil, but to fight those deers again? It wasn’t because he was scared, but because by his estimation or atleast feeling, Kailey was about to wake up.

Ugh… having responsibilities is so troublesome. Tian went back to the camp and sat back down. The two deers were placed at each of his sides. He let out a sigh and placed both his hands on top of the deers.

“If I had more, maybe I can even make a throne other than an armrest ahahahahah-”

With two spears in his hand and another to his back. Tian circled to the other side of the forest and went behind the herd. Five, four, three, two, one.

The deers screeched in panic. Without sight of the attacker, they all ran in circles inside the open area. Tian took the other spear on his back and threw it with the others.

He ran out immediately and jumped up a running spear. He grabbed one of its antlers with his right and twisted it down. He smashed its head to support his right.

After pulling the complete antler he stabbed it to his head and threw it to another deer. Tian immediately ran back into the forest before the herd could all form back together.

Inside the forest, many had already separated from others. Using his brute strength, smashing the deer's heads. Tian took the antlers of all he killed, and after a while, none could be spotted anymore… and it wasn’t only deers that he couldn’t spot, it was also the open area.

“Oh shit… I’m lost.”

“Now if I don’t remember anything, I should not… go anywhere.” Tian stood still and spun around looking for any signs. First, he tried to follow the corpse of the deer, but soon that thing led to nowhere, but he did spot a deer again.

“I should probably just follow it.” And so, night fell and morning came. Tian followed the deer as it wandered the forest, whether it was lost or not, he was beginning to think that this deer has no sense of direction.

It kept on walking and eating grass, and then it walked and ate more grass. The deer didn’t even change direction nor did it run or find anyone. A few days passed and finally… Tian did find something. Humans… more people!

He ran as close to them as before he stopped himself at the sight of weapons. Two men stood still in front of a cave. They had spears and your casual house clothing of shirts and shorts while being barefoot.

They look alike the guards at the refugee camp, but I mean that’s just racist if I say that. Tian didn’t mind it and just walked out of the forest with his classic introduction.

“Hello! My name is Tian!”

“Hold your ground!”

“Don’t move!”

The two immediately pointed their spears.

“Seriously, this is not how you greet someone, people!” Tian fixed his back and walked closer to the two. He was ready to get stabbed or anything, it was just two spears, as long as they didn’t hit his head, it wouldn’t be enough pain for him to faint. “So what are you guys doing in front of that cave?”

“You have no business with it!”

“Don’t come any closer!”

Tian did come closer. Their spear touched his skin and they immediately retracted it back to their face. They may be soldiers in name, or guards in position, but they were just ordinary people who have never killed anyone.

The two didn’t have enough courage to harm the man, but one guard remembered a memory of his suffering and immediately stabbed Tian with his eyes closed.

“Self-defense it is then!” Tian smiled. He walked as the spear went deeper into his body. He punched the guard that stabbed him and immediately pulled the spear stuck to him behind his back.

“Ahhhh!” The other guard ran in fear.

“Don’t kill me please!” The one on the floor begged as he crawled.

Tian had always wanted to do many evil acts, but sadly he was placed on earth, a place where law exists, a place he had always wanted to escape, if anyone ever fell for his acts of kindness and care, that means…

“You know, I’ve always wanted to be an actor, but I just didn’t have the looks. And so.” Tian tilted his head to the left and right with a smile and sliced the man’s head of with the spear.

“There was this one anime scene I fucking loved. Because blood doesn’t actually leave your weapon if you just swing it down, he cleaned it between his arms.”

Tian then went inside the cave and it was deeper than he thought. The cave was attached to a small hill, it wasn’t that high, but he also didn’t know how far it went. But the heigh didn’t matter anymore as the cave went down.

“Well, I have nowhere else to go…”

The inside was expected, it was an uneven steep entrance where one wrong step and you fall directly and die. Tian had one problem as he carefully went down, he… was fat.

“Ahhh!” Tian fell and rolled down the cave, breaking legs and crushing his arms. Thankfully he didn’t faint. As he landed to the bottom with his broken body, he looked for any other people.

His body only gained a few injuries internally so only a few hours or a whole day was needed for it to fully heal. Even with his loud scream that echoed deep into the cave, no one came.

Tian was relieved and stood up. “Now…” He looked up at the hike of his life and immediately turned around. “I only have one direction!” And so he marched in.

The cave slowly became bigger and bigger. More space was presented with pikes at the top and spikes at the bottom. Suspiciously though, there were no bugs or any insects inside the cave.

It was so quiet that Tian’s step was painful to even listen to. Soon the path was cut into two. Tian rubbed his chin looking at the two dark voids inside the entrances. He played a little game to differentiate the two from his own country and he picked the left.

“Left it is!” The cave didn’t change, it was still a large empty cavern filled with dangerous spikes without even any living bats. It was ominous yet comfy. The dark cave felt like home to Tian, he… was a unique man, and one of his weird traits was that he had a condition opposite to claustrophobia. He was someone who kinda likes thigh spaces, a room where he can hide.

“This floor feels so fucking good.” He felt the cold stone underneath his bare feet. Tian dragged his fingers along the walls until he found the end of the path. It was a giant metal wall that was shaped like an arched door.

“Hoo…” Whether it was a door or just a wall, it was weirdly shaped like one. There were multiple weird carvings on it, but they weren’t at all coherent with each other. But as he got closer to it he wondered what it could be. There was no cut in the middle, so that means it would open like that, there was no knob nor does it even feel like it was attached to the stone walls.

Tian touched the metal door. As his hand caressed the random carvings his mind slowly calmed down. It was like being in a hot spring all alone in the forest as it rains while you watch the moon in the dark sky.

He was slowly closing his eyes and his smile slowly grew.

But suddenly, “Crack!”.

The floor broke into pieces and Tian’s trance was interrupted as he fell. “What the fuck!”
