Chapter 1: Adventure
Part 1: The Guild
Women stared, men were jealous and rumours about a princes arrival spread across Baran Village. The two men walked down the mud road and didn’t say a single word to each other. One had silvery white hair that passed his shoulders, his face was smooth and soft. He stood tall and was slightly above the average hight, with his white skin he looked young. It was and odd sight but there was headband covering his eyes, this disappointed many women.. However the other man was old and had two spots on the right side of his face. He had many wrinkles and a hunchback. Although he had a supportive wooden crane he still struggled to walk.

It was new to me, you know. People looked at me in a new way. I walked behind Sir Rimuru and stayed silent. I didn’t know what to talk about. After all he was like my dad and so I wanted to avoid awkward conversations. I didn’t know where we going but I trusted the old man with my life.
We walked for hours, and during this time I was slowly practising the task that I was given ‘feel the earth’. I wanted to look at the world. I knew I wasn’t blind, but I acted like I was. That voice in the dungeon caused my to lose my eyes, but In return I was given a pair of cursed eyes. I couldn’t open them, even after all that training I was still afraid to do so. My clothes barely fit me and I needed to wear something else.
“You should become an adventurer, with your skill you would be at the top. Blind or not.” Sir Rimuru began to speak and broke the silence.
“Hmm.. it’s not a bad shout but am I of age to become one?” I asked genuinely wondering.
“Have you forgotten? Your 16 now, you can just about become one.”
Indeed I had forgotten that we spent years in the mountain. But that wasn’t all my voice had changed. It had become deeper, but not as deep as Darius. As we walked people stared out their windows, most houses had few windows. They weren’t that different from mine, they had a thatch roof, stone walls and a wooden door. The only differences were that mine had wooden walls and holes. It isn’t actually my house, it was abandoned and so I took over and started living there. The villagers didn’t seem to care.
Sir Rimuru came to a sudden halt and so did I behind him.
“We’re here, let’s go in, I know the man who runs the place so you should be able to get a spot.” Sir Rimuru commented.
I didn’t reply, just followed. It was two story building, built with the same material as any other house. The door was already open and a sign which said ‘GUILD’ was hung above it. Thanks to the ‘touch’ training we did I could tell what the little carvings in things said. I was also able to get a grasp of what was what. Although on rare occasions I miscalculate and end up doing something stupid. We walked in and it felt like there was a lot of people, there eyes on us. It was slightly embarrassing but I had to deal with it.

We walked straight to what felt like a checkout area. There was a women on the other side of the table.
“Oh! Sir Rimuru, should I call the guild leader?” Her gentle voice asked.
“No, you should do fine, I ask you to let the young man behind me become an adventurer.” He replied with a kind tone.
“Of course, but he still needs to be tested.” She reasoned.
I asked what was going on but was ignored, it hurt a bit but overall I just shrugged it off. Their conversation ended and we started to walk again, this time the woman joined us. From what I could tell she was in her mid 20s and was slightly taller than Sir Rimuru. We went through a double door and Into a huge coliseum. The were few people sitting over yonder and two people fighting in the middle.
We sat down near to the double doors and watched the fight. I didn’t know what was going on but the man to the left was short with little reach he couldn’t get many hits on the man to the right. His overall strength was quite weak. Yet the other man was a head taller and his reach was shocking. He had control over the fight and wasn’t going to lose it anytime soon. The man to the right landed a solid kick to the smaller one’s stomach which sent him flying into the other direction.
Another man who seemed strong replaced the winner and another person who was sitting rather far away from us replaced the loser. I did realise that this was simply a test. I was looking forward to my test, as I hadn’t fought anyone other than Sir Rimuru.
Atlas after waiting for 10minutes my turn had come. As I approached the middle my instructor waited to grade me.
“I’ll hold back since your blind, either way you’ll lose” he said, his cocky attitude annoyed me. I was prepared to win.
“Oh you sure about that? If you are, your in for a surprise!” I said under my breath but seeing as he clenched his fists harder he must have heard.
We both charged at each other and continued to trade fists, but none of them landed. I’m not sure if he couldn’t, or chose not to but he didn’t use any magic. Either way it was to his loss. After few minutes of fighting, I managed to swiftly dodge his attack and counter, this time it landed. And as Sir Rimuru said, I had an inhuman amount of Strength. His cocky smile rubbed off and he was sent to the other side of the coliseum. His back was imbedded into the wall and huge cracks formed. I held back to why did it cause so much destruction? He must have been too weak. The instructor never came to attack me, I heard he had passed out or something. And since I won it was only natural I received a high rank. The ranking system was simple:
* Amethyst was at the top
* Emerald was just below it
.•Diamond was rather high
* Gold after that
* Iron was next
* Silver was near the bottom
* Bronze was the second lowest
* Wood was at the bottom
I received Gold rank. This gave me certain privileges and meant that I had high income of money. Not only that but I had access to things that normal commoners couldn’t. Only Sir Rimuru knew my heritage in the guild, I chose not to tell anyone in order to live a quieter life.
“Gold.. that’s quite high. Good job! You’ll meet new people some are snakes so be careful.” Sir Rimuru warned. I didn’t know what he meant by ‘Snakes’ but I remembered his words. He suddenly hugged me and said his goodbyes. I was tempted to cry but held it back as sir Rimuru left. It was done and Over fast and a weird taste remained in my mouth. But as I had nothing else to do I went over to the counter and asked the woman ,who took me to the coliseum, if I could get a weapon…
