Chapter 3: Awakening

Part 1: Other Senses

Light fell down onto Jin. Rough wood could be felt. Birds singing in the distance and people chatting away. Meat, Jin could taste meat. He wasn’t eating but the taste lingered in the air. Confused, Jin was now bamboozled how could he hear and taste such things? Scared to open his eyes he had simply tried to make connections but none of them made sense.

Mumbling of people could be heard just barely, but who were they? Did someone save Jin? But how, he was deep within the dungeon.

“Let the … .. rest….. .. .. he needs …” the familiar voice said. But Jin couldn’t get his hand around it, who were they? he asked himself.

“I …….. he did…….. we should…” another voice said.

This time a lot closer a deep voice spoke up”We should let him rest, I agree. But he must tell us when he wakes up”

‘Oh my god its them’ . Jin thought if he was only a guinea pig why was he saved? They need to know something but what..? Jin, still afraid to open his eyes, sat up and spoke.”why did you save me?”

Ran talked and explained how after loud shouting could be heard from further down they started to run in that direction. And by the time they arrived the room was destroyed. Not only that but in the middle of that demolished room,Jin was sleeping. He went on to say that after they picked up and started running out the whole dungeon started to collapse, this was something new. A dungeon usually just vanished but this time it collapsed? They needed information on how that happened.

His eyes still shut.”I don’t know what happened either, I heard a voice and fainted “

“Boy you think we would believe that?” Darius spoke, his tone wasn’t gentle he really didn’t hold back with that.

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

“Why do you keep your eyes closed?” Gentle and soothing to Jin the voice of Kei could be heard.

“If I open them I’m afraid of the pain I’ll feel.” Jin replied.

“What could possibly go wrong with opening your eyes?” Ran mocked.

Jin genuinely annoyed by this as he knew he was being made fun of, opened his eyes.

“AAAAAAAAAAA” Jin squealed and fell onto the floor. Once again he felt much stronger. Not only that but he could see everything, feel everything. His once black hair was dyed white from the stress and pain of opening his eyes. Ancient markings being formed onto his body. Kei jumped towards him and forced them shut. No one saw what was wrong with his eyes, they all just knew that they were very dangerous.

“So now the poor boy has become blind..” ran spoke in a voice of regret.

“Let’s leave quickly, we can’t let anyone know we were here.” Darius spoke up before Ran could finish of his sentence. And to no surprise, the three men dashed outside the house and vanished from Jin’s life. This act of theirs caused Jin to lose faith In humanity, Jin was changing and it wasn’t in a good way.

There wasn’t much Jin could do, he indeed had become blind. Or so he thought. He crawled, it was the only thing he could do. He used what he felt to navigate around his house. He tried to stand up but he was unbalanced he couldn’t see what he was doing. *Bang* Jin fell fast onto the floor creating a loud noise that could be heard even from his neighbours,

While Jin attempted to get used to his other senses as he had concluded that’s the only way he could live again. A knocking could be heard, but that eventually stopped and the door opened,

“Jin where are those men?” Jin felt relief, and his soul had calmed down. The voice of the old man who raised him could be heard. He ran towards the noise but tripped. On his other foot and once more fell. “Hahaha, are you okay Jin?” Although the old man did go away, he was still in the village just more to the other side of where Jin lived.

“Hey Sir Rimuru, what would you do if I say iv become blind.”

The old man, Rimuru, spoke up,”naturally I would help you, although because the people couldn’t accept it, your not legally my son but I think of you like that..”

Jin grinned he was happy and down came tears of joy.

“Well since I’m guessing you somehow became blind, I’ll help you. Your going to need to hone your other senses, I won’t ask how this happened but I will always be ready to listen to you.” Sir Rimuru said after hearing and looking an Jin,
