Even though Baron had gone first to assist his ally and good friend Jaxon, it appeared as though his help was not really needed. Just one look and anyone would be able to tell you that it was a clear one-sided battle. For the majority of this tournament, Jaxon did not do much except for plan the overall goal and movements of his 4 allies. However, now that he was on the battlefield, it seemed as if none was his match. Not even Wang Yi and Eumenes of Greece. Granted, William Bridges not being here might affect their dominance on the battlefield a slight bit.
Baron was only daydreaming for a split second before he ordered his various squads to go into the battlefield and lessen the load upon Jaxon’s pilots. Even if he didn’t need it. As the went on, things looked better and better for the Under 1 Banner group. Guan Yu and Yue Fei finished their battle and had come to Wang Yi’s capital base as well. Sadly, they were unable to completely make the base surrender that day, but they finished the job the very next day and had a short meeting with Wang Yi and Eumenes of Greece before they departed.
(BM) “Wang Yi, Eumenes, looks like in the end, it is us who triumphs,” Baron said to his defeated opponents.
(WY) “Look, Baron, you got lucky that’s all. If you hadn’t had the help of that tramp from the Femme Fatale faction, then you would not be able to have beaten me.” Wang Yi said while glaring at Baron.
(BM) “Eumenes, what do you think?”
(E) “That Jaxon fellow is an existence I have never met before. Even in all of my travels, he is the first to have mastered aerial warfare to such a degree.” Eumenes complimented Jaxon who was also in the room.
(JL) “Why thank you. You shouldn’t feel too down. After all, there aren’t many who have half as many aerial blueprints as I do.” Jaxon Long said in a serious tone.
(WY) “Indeed. The many planes, bombers, traps, and everything else you have shown me in this battle are truly impressive. My entire faction might not even be comparable to you in those terms, and that’s saying something. We are the number 3 ranked faction in all of the Chinese community after all. Where were you hiding such a monster, Baron?”
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
(JL) “That’s for us to know, and you to reflect upon. Our battle may have been short, but I guarantee you that it was the most exhilarating one I have felt in a long time. You shouldn’t be saddened by the loss, but glad that you got to spar with such a worthy opponent.”
(WY) “Yes, I suppose that is one way to look at it. You are without a doubt the most domineering man in aerial warfare that I have ever seen. Perhaps even on the level of my faction’s 4 leaders.”
(E) “Hey, Baron. Could you help Wang Yi out with a…”
(WY) “Enough! It is time for us to go. They need to finish the tournament and become a faction. Something we failed to accomplish.”
With that, Wang Yi and Eumenes forfeited the faction selection tournament and left Baron and Jaxon looking at each other wondering about what Eumenes was talking about. Jaxon immediately dismissed it, but Baron thought a bit longer before he went to deal with other matters. Relatively speaking, their conquests into Wang Yi’s territory took a little over 3 months, not too long. Baron knew that there was only one more enemy left, Ding Lai Hang.
It would come as no surprise to Baron that all this time Ding Lai Hang took the advantage he was given and made sure to consolidate as much power as he could. For as soon as one of the two other factions won, he would swoop in and end them when they were weakened. A textbook maneuver. However, Baron took a lot fewer casualties than he had thought and decided to go straight from Wang Yi’s conquered capital base and head to Ding Lai Hang’s.
Now, Ding Lai Hang had estimated that he would have at least 5 months for either Baron or Wang Yi to take out the other, and perhaps one more month to lick their wounds. That was certainly not the case as soon as he heard the reports of Baron’s troop movements. He immediately sent a sizable chunk of his aerial army to try and conquer his land to try and buy himself some time, but no dice. Lu Mu was dispatched there immediately to destroy his futile attempts.
Ding Lai Hang himself might be near the level of Wang Yi or Eumenes, but none of his henchmen were. Not to mention, there were only 4 men left in his team whereas Baron still had 5. The matter was not that his current team was inadequate, in fact, they were quite a bit better than the average aerial warfare strategist. It was that Baron’s Under 1 Banner team was just way too far out of his league. At first, he did not believe it, but with the most recent fight between them and Wang Yi, there were no doubts.
At best, he could delay Baron’s team from reaching his capital base for a month, maybe two. But not forever. There are a few times in every strategist’s career where they know without a doubt that they would have no chance of beating their foe, but they knew they just had to try. But it was far better to try and fail than just giving up on the spot. His team performed to his expectations and were wiped out fairly early in the conquests led by Jaxon.
Ding Lai Hang knew that he was being toyed with when Baron's team decided to take out every single one of his bases before they finally converged upon his capital base. He himself only lasted a few hours before the might of Baron's incredibly stacked team.
