Chapter 37– When life Gives You Bandits…

I couldn’t wrap my head around the situation. (Uncle is from Ohmdorra, but coincidentally ended up on Earth. Someone who was either W.E.B Dubois or influenced by him came from Earth to Ohmdorra. Now I am here after Earth’s destruction. What the hell is going on? Whatever the case may be, I am most certainly not the first Earthling to come here. So why am I considered the first to be chosen successfully by the Nexus? Why is the Nexus so focused on Earth!?) While I was deep in thought, a few unwanted wayfarers stopped our carriage,

“Well boys, why don’t you look at that! I spy a fat purse that needs splittin!”

The highwayman shouted, snapping me back to reality. When I noticed the highwaymen before us, my eyes glowed with a shadowy light. The crooks were all wearing mithril plated armor and had orichalcum weapons and shields. They even had a golem with them although it was made of magic steel. Still these ass wipes were loaded, causing me to salivate.

“Hey Anansi, hold the reins, I got a few big fat fish to fry!”

Without waiting for a reply, I flew off the driver’s bench and ignited my plasmasaber. With every second I drew closer, more and more magoi poured out of me into my armor which began to radiate black flaming death for all who stood too close. When I reached my first prey, he didn’t even have his weapon drawn as my sword tickled his frontal lobe then proceeded to split his skull in two.

Not even a scream was issued in his moment of death, shame. Seeing the curtain fall (first blood), the leading highwayman roared in my direction. He then pointed his two swords at me as he seemed to gather his aura. A Blademaster Stage Battlemaster! Talk about a fat sow. Not wanting to let this juice meal slip, I evoked a plasmic spear. Once formed, I cast it towards the golem which started charging my way, destroying it in one hit.

“You son of a whore!!! I will skin you alive!! After I rape and defile everyone in that carriage. I will make you watch as they scream and beg for death!!” said the highwayman like a typical villain.

“Or you can die like the piece of shit you are and let me take your stuff!”

I retorted, slicing in half all at once three of the highwayman’s goons who stood between me and my prey (Triple Kill!!). Anansi watched with absolute disbelief as I cleaved in half one fool after another. The highwayman crept further and further away, yet couldn’t shake my deathly pursuit. In no time flat, all that remained were broken bodies, the cussing bandit and me.

“Stop running already and die like a man, you roach!”

I said evoking a black fireball. This spell was a combination of fire, darkness and neutral elements called “Nether Flarebolt”. Although it was only meant for single targets, it would immediately burn flesh, bones and blood. However, it leaves metals, magoi infused items, and magoi crystals intact. This was my go-to spell when I wanted to kill an enemy with valuable resources! I threw the spell at the wretch, and swiftly followed after it for consecutive attacks. Seeing the black flames approach, the highwayman finally worked up the courage and swat it down with an aura enhanced sword swing.

Later he charged forward, meeting me head on, swords clashing against each other. We exchanged blows for a few minutes, sword for sword, fist for fist, magic for aura and yet I could not overtake him. Seeing this, I began to feel pressured, but also pleasure seeing a worthy enemy appear on day 1 of our trip. It was here I decided to use this clown as my whetstone to awaken aura. If I succeed, I will officially be at the Mana Bladesman stage in my self-created way of the Arcane Warrior!

Not wanting to miss this chance, I started to withdraw my magoi and fought solely with my body. I took a few hits in response, but none of that mattered as I was just once step away from my goal. The highwayman noticed my change and began attacking like a frenzied beast,

“You think you will use me as your grindstone!? Too bad! You’ll die TODAY!!!”

Yelled the highwayman as he released the full force of his aura. I could not see it, but I could feel an energy wrapped around the wretch. It was like a giant bubble of densely packed water was enveloping him, slowing my attacks, and providing additional power to his. The fight took a turn which pushed me into a corner, but I still pressed on using only my sword.

After a minute of this heightened melee, I began to feel drained and weighed down, but I pressed on. The sensation kept growing the longer the fight went until it had been nearly 40 minutes since I killed the first bandit. Standing before me was the highwayman gasping for air while I stood opposite him, blood leaking from the gaps in my armor, yet my eyes glowed with an unquenchable flame!

“You piece of shit!! Just DIE!!!!”

Issuing a decisive battle cry, the highwayman charged towards me with all he had left. This is it! This is the moment! Placing my sword in its sheath-like socket, I recalled the sensation I had when I fought dad, forgetting everything else while taking a deep breath. In doing so, time seemed to slow to a crawl. I could see the wretch charge at me while moving slower than a sloth, feet hammering the dirt path. Light dimmed until all I could see was my prey slowly approaching death. In this trance, I did not notice a black energy begin to radiate from deep within me, slowly simmering like a pot over fire as bubbles began to form faster, and faster until.

  THUMP!!

The highwayman stepped into my striking circle, and I released my blade with deathly accuracy. The black energy erupted from me as my sword shot out of the socket. CLANG!!! We both struck out…. Silence blanketed the road as we stood. I remained still like a statue, whereas the highwayman stood headless holding a broken sword. After a few moments, I withdrew my plasmasaber, and began cleaning up the road.

“I could feel it, but this was not enough. I need something more stimulating than this, sigh.”

I said to myself as I cleared the corpses using Nether Flarebolt to destroy the bodies, leaving only their stuff behind. After 10 minutes, my task was complete, so I evoked water and cleansed the filth off my body while sending magoi into my armor, allowing the armor to mend itself slowly. Although this was like using band-aids instead of stitches, I will repair my equipment later.

Walking back to the carriage, Anansi greeted me, alongside Cavilhaugh, Katya and Ivy. The girls looked at me with calm expressions given I had a deep-felt penchant for murdering bandits. My thirst for bandit blood began when those perverts from years ago dared to fap at me on our way from Emeraldshade Forest. Anansi looked amazed as if he saw a war god in action, whereas Cavilhaugh looked deathly afraid (He better not have done something to my sister, or Ivy). As I approached saying, Anansi stepped off the coach driver’s bench,

“My word, you truly are a beast, brotha!” Anansi applauded.

“Thanks! I need to rest for a bit. Cavilhaugh take my place on the bench, and when we camp, I will take first night watch.”

I said to which Cavilhaugh nodded and went to sit next to Anansi while the girls and I went inside the carriage. Once inside, I placed my head on Ivy’s lap and slept until we made camp… or at least tried to. Originally, we had intended on traveling through the night. However, my battle with that bandit filth seemed to set off a chain reaction. Every hour or so we would be met by rabid magic beasts, bandits, or monsters.

When each battle came to an end, we would take turns driving the carriage until nightfall came. By then we were tired, but not to the point of being negligent. Once we found a suitable place, Katya set up the artifact known as “Safe House” which would be our camp area. Safe house is an artifact in the form of a half a meter spike enchanted with the ability to create a warding and camouflaging barrier within a designated circumference around the artifact. Our Safe house is an Apprentice level artifact with a 15-meter diameter, giving us more than enough room to set up camp.

As agreed upon earlier, I took the first watch for the night, while everyone slept. Since we had Geoff and the golems meant for protecting the carriage, only one person had to stay awake and feed magoi into the Safe house artifact regularly. After 3 hours, my shift ended, and the next person took my place. In such a way, the day came to an end and our trip began anew in the morning.
