Chapter 26– No Good thing Goes Unpunished Part 2

Chapter 26– No Good thing Goes Unpunished Part 2

After resting for a little over an hour, I took the essence filled vessel in hand and activated the ritual circle. After a few seconds, the magoi infused lake water glowed with neutral magoi light. In the cardinal points around the circle, elemental magoi representing earth, fire, air, and water glowed brightly. The elements then gathering into the cardinal magic circles. Afterwards, lightning, ice, nature and neutral elemental magoi filled the ordinal magic circles. Lastly, in the inner circle light and darkness elemental magoi glowed with me in the center. When all the elemental magoi started condensing in their designated place, I began to recite the evocation for Race Restoration.

In but a moment the essence filled vessel flew gently out of my hand and floated in front of me. Next the essence began to pour out on its own and flow into the runes I had inscribed on my flesh like fiery needles. The pain was not even close to opening the Celestial mana palace, so I didn’t even whimper at the sensation. The process continued for another full day, and I only had to simply continue the evocation and bear the pain, so I encountered no issues.

As night settled in again, the essence was still flowing into me. Once the last drop of essence was used, something unexpected happened. My left-hand mana palace erupted with a black energy. A “tainted” energy I could flowed out, my “Soul of Misfortune “curse reared its head.

  “SKREEAAA!!”

That wailing sound filled my head again. Looks like the curse saved me when the poison fire spread everywhere. Only to kill me now as it began to swell. Like a beast tired of waiting for its prey, it attacked the pure essence.

Afraid of ruining everything, I opened my palaces, but this seemed to place me in even more danger as the curse decided to flood my palaces, slowly tainting them. I didn’t know what to do and no outside help could save me, so I simply watched as I resigned myself to what may come. The curse travelled from one palace to the next, tainting them until it began to flood into my Divine Kingdom palace. It was here, I began to be filled with sorrow and pure hatred for whatever or whoever created this curse. Raving with emotion, I swore to the heavens,

“If I survive this, I will hunt you down and flay you while you still live. I will keep you conscious while I defile and destroy all you have built. And if I die, my soul will break free of the void and haunt you until your very existence is consumed by my wrath. Pray my soul is extinguished, whoever you are!!!”

In my fury, I unconsciously began to burn the magoi and life essence inside of me, sending an incredible force into the Divine Kingdom palace. Deep within, ancient archaic runes began to light up one after another as the palace began to shake. Without warning, an unknown force deep within my Divine kingdom palace flooded my entire body. This force was domineering as it pushed the accursed aura out of the other palaces save one.

Like a waterfall being forced to flow in reverse, the “tainted” energy flowed back into the palace of my left hand. Soon, all of the accursed aura flooded my left arm until only the left arm was shrouded in the accursed aura. Not even a single speck of “tainted” aura remained anywhere else. Afterwards unknowable runes began to be inscribed on my left arm’s bones, muscles, and skin.

The burning sensation was great, but I was too swept up in my wrath towards an enemy I didn’t know. After about another hour, the ritual had completed and the faint markings on my left arm from before turned into permanent ancient archaic runic inscriptions which finally stopped burning. Coming to my senses, I relaxed my sore body.

Afraid of what might happen, I wrapped my left arm entirely. I hastily retrieved from the inventory a special kind of fabric which blocks ambient magoi and prevents internal magoi from flowing out. I hastily dressed myself and checked my information. Glancing at the system menu, I was immediately assailed by tons of messages saying,

“Congratulations!! You have unlocked the achievement; Wrathful Promise!! This is unlocked by aiming all your hatred towards a single enemy, known or unknown. You have gained moral affinity: Evil 55x!”

“Congratulations!! You have unlocked the hidden achievement; Return to Origin!! This is unlocked by either entering the state of atavism, or completely Race Restoration of the highest level!!”

I no longer have any angel blood in me, and my human blood is extraordinarily little. I am for the most part an Ancestral (Dark) elf. I will need to check my appearance later. Moving on, my stats went through the roof! I probably have the power of a Blademaster stage now or even higher. Sadly, my moral affinity took a major hit. Luckily, I still have a long way to go to fix it. When looking at my elemental affinity, I expected a change, but not this kind of change. I now am able to use all elements like breathing.

I will need to train myself to not blow myself up when using fire. Lastly, my curse has changed to “Soul of the Doom Bringer” with a 75pt debuff in luck. Whereas 2 new special traits appeared “Curse Eater” and “Ancestral Blood”. Curse Eater allows me to absorb curses, but apparently the trait is locked, and I can’t use it. However, Ancestral blood caused my elemental affinity to be maxed out and now I don’t use any MP for normal spells.

To be honest all this feels too OP, like my luck was great besides being extremely low. Ironically, a message appeared,

“Notice! Your designated administrator Uriel would like to speak with you. Connecting, please wait…You are connected.”

“Yuriy, I see you have enjoyed that little something I gave you!” Uriel said. I replied,

  “What do you mean?”

“Don’t pretend you didn’t notice all this good luck despite the curse on your soul. Before I wanted you to live at least 100 sols before you start to repay the favor; however, I think you are more than ready to repay the debt. To be honest, I thought it was a little too soon. But first you somehow created a divine body!“ Uriel growled, his voice revealing a deep annoyance as his true colors shone forth.

“Brat!! Only gods and administrators have divine bodies! Now that’s beyond lucky. Then to add more fuel to the fire, you have the best magic condition in your current world. Now only the Demon King on the continent of Hellscape can match your affinities or bloodline. With all that, I actually took a loss. Regardless of my job to keep life going, I refuse to be used by a pitiful misfortunate existence like you. So, pay up!” After saying this, a quest message came through,

“Alert! Alert! A Nexus commission has been sent. It is mandatory you complete the mission…

You have begun Nexus mission: A Life for 50 Lives, Luck for Misfortune

-It’s time to repay the favor that’s been given to you. - Administrator Uriel

Objective:

* Prevent the great monster wave which will occur in 12 sols’ time

* Prevent the War between Duxley and Principality of Papos from involving the other 2 powers on Eliador in 12 sols’ time

* Prevent the forgotten abomination from releasing its blight upon Eliador in 12 sols’ time

Notice: Failure to fulfill 1 or more objectives will result in All stats, elemental affinity, and attributes to be reset to 1. Curse: Soul of the Doom Bringer will evolve into Curse: Doom’s Annihilation. User death may result.

Notice: When quest time reaches 11 sol and 160 days, user’s stat will decrease by 1pt every 10 days. Stat points lost will not be restored.”

“What the hell is this! This ass hat is making me do what?” While in mid thought, Uriel continued,

“Now with this mission, you must complete it. And don’t even think of complaining to others in the Nexus because should anyone find out, your very existence will be destroyed. Now my little errand monkey…get to work!”

  “Uriel has ended the connection.”

(That bastard! I wouldn’t be surprised if he had something to do with my curse. Fine! I will play along but mark my words since you like to read people’s thoughts; I am coming for you!!) With a new direction, I walked out of the destroyed ritual circle and washed up. Now, I understand why uncle said don’t trust the Nexus. I will be sure to destroy that hub when I find it. After my declaration, another message appeared,

“For swearing bloody vengeance, you have earned moral affinity: Evil 10x.”
