Chapter 10- Sins of the Forefathers

Chapter 10- Sins of the Forefathers

“In the flesh… Well, blood. Have you forgotten my voice after not seeming me for a while, little Yuriy?”

Uncle Yuriy said as the blood finished transforming into him, although he looked a lot younger than how I remember him.

“But how? Everyone and everything from Earth were destroyed! How can this be?”

“The same reason you have the system menu and are a part of the Nexus. Like you, I was selected; however, Ohmdorra is my home world, my beginning. You have many questions; however, we have little time and much to do. So, I shall relay to you what you need to know and the task you must complete.” Uncle Yuriy said, and without waiting for my response created an illusion for me to see.

“Little Yuriy, what’s before you lie Ohmdorra from 50,000 sols ago, and 25,000 sols before the demonic dragons. You should already know I was a dark elf, correct?” Nodding my head yes, Uncle Yuriy smiled and continued,

“What you don’t know is from which clan of dark elf. My clan was known by very few given how nomadic we were. Unlike other elves, we did not stay in forests, or build settlements, we roamed the planet because no such place on Ohmdorra would ever allow us to call it home.”

“The reason for the constant roaming is a curse. The same curse that now lay in you, was also in us. Because of that curse we were called “Doom Elves”, the “Doomed clan”, or even the “Heralds of Destruction”.

Uncle paused for a moment, and I let it sink in. I have a hereditary curse which effects those around me. But I have never noticed any issues at all. But… there was this one instance. That can’t be cause of this curse, could it? Uncle resumed his story while I thought to myself,

“Wherever we went, death and destruction followed. No matter those of whom were sick or wounded and received our aid, They always brought plague and pestilence to their settlements. For this, many of the Elven clans sought to purge our very existence. It is here you must listen well.”

“Okay, I get it! My curse is inherited, fine. Even so what does this have to do with me and this trial thing?” I asked uncle, only for him to lecture in response,

“Little Yuriy, worry about that stuff later, now listen to the history of our clan!” Seeing the sorrow and seriousness in his face, I took heed of what was to be said.

“For thousands of sols we fled from our brethren and the land of the elves, hoping they’d no longer give chase until we came to the Darganta continent. At the time, the area was void of any life and had very thin magoi density. There, the clan grew and developed a home away from the elven continent for the first time.”

“Despite that, it would only take a single moment of neglect to bring about death. For now all the races of the world, save dragons, sought our extinction. It was in this cornered moment; our clan had performed the unspeakable.” Uncle sighed, his countenance falling as he continued.

“The elders of the time performed a forbidden ritual which consumed more than half of the clans’ lives. This brought the first demonic dragon to our world. Once the first appeared, it killed all the men and ate the women and children save one, me an infant.”

“I don’t know whether it was pity or amusement, but that dragon then branded upon my soul the memories of my entire clan save the moments which lead to our curse. Afterwards, with the sacrifices serving their purpose, the demonic dragon began its conquest. The rest, you already know.”

My god… My ancestors doomed an entire planet. Does that mean the Markov family doomed Earth with three world wars and finally annihilation?

“I know what you’re thinking, and yes, the Markov family on Earth, specifically myself, had brought the deaths of our family and the world.” Uncle Yuriy said, shame coloring his voice.

Shii, That Uriel dude was right, I am a serious disaster magnet! Thinking this, I asked,

  “Uncle Yuriy, what happened?”

“Little Yuriy, I had sought atonement for my clan here on Ohmdorra and hoped it would not follow me into another life. However, I was a fool to believe it would be over and done with. This is where your task must begin.

“I will impart to you my full legacy and punishment our clan has received. When you leave here, you will have 4 tasks you must fulfill before ascending to Godhood. Failure will result in the destruction of this planet.” As uncle told me the tasks, my quest list updated my current quest and a message popped up saying,

“You have now started Main Quest: Sins of the Forefathers. Complete the following objections before obtaining Godhood. Failure results in death and destruction of Ohmdorra.

-Little Yuriy, help me and our clan atone for our sins! -Uncle Yuriy

After reading, I focused again on Uncle Yuriy,

“Know this, these tasks will be similarly as hard as Heracles’ twelve labors if not harder. Now, I will teach you all you can currently handle. It will take many Earth years, but the time spent in the real world would only be a few seconds. The knowledge I give you here must be applied in the way I tell you, understand?”

  “Yes Uncle”

  “Good! Let us begin.”

And with that, my training within the suspended time chamber began. Although I don’t know what to make of everything Uncle Yuriy told me, there is one thing I understood the most. My Soul of Misfortune curse may develop into “Soul of the Doom Bringer” if I encounter seriously unfortunate circumstances and don’t come out on top.

Lastly, I have to be careful around my own family since the misfortune(?) I radiate may affect them. But how exactly to I control it? While I was too busy worrying about the adverse effects of my curse, Uncle Yuriy began to swear and hit me like I’ve never seen before,

“Fool! Why do you have your head in your ass at a time like this!? You better screw your neck on straight before I do! Your physical body in the real world will feel the pain I’m gonna cause you if I do it!”

Knowing uncle to be a man of his word, I cast all thoughts about everything besides training aside, giving my undivided attention to uncle. It was in this manner my training progressed. To be honest, I lost track of time here. Every moment bled into the next, with the concept of time being convoluted and unperceivable. I better make full use of this opportunity given to me by uncle since I doubt I’ll get another chance like this just flying into my lap.

10 Earth years passed while in the realm. During this time, Uncle taught me the true way of using mana manipulation. Originally, I was using a simplified version for children to use (or so uncle says), but now I will need to use the real deal. Mana Manipulation is divided into 8 Stages,

1. Mana molding   2. Mana ingestion

2. Mana refinement 4. Organ tempering

3. Blood filtering   6. Bone Reforging

4. Soul Grounding   8. Impurity expulsion

Mana molding is where the mage draws in ambient magoi of the purest quality. This requires the mage to consciously strip the magoi particles of any elemental contaminations. Meaning, ambient magoi for the most part is a mixture of all elemental energies which forms multi-colored specks of light floating in the air.

The mage has to separate the elements from the magoi particles before they can absorb it into their body. In contrast, normal meditation methods from this world forgo this option as they aim to unify mages with the world, making it easier to absorb ambient magoi and cast spell as if their very actions are similar to acts of nature such as the changing of seasons, causing rain or snow to fall, or ushering forth a gentle breeze.

Mana Ingestion is much like I had originally thought it to be. Only, I am absorbing purified elemental magoi particles and not ambient magoi particles. Mana refinement is where I use the newly absorbed magoi to reinforce the magoi my body naturally contains. Afterwards, I assist my body in circulating the different magoi particles, granting me a gradually improved affinity with all elements instead of my natural elemental affinity.

Organ tempering is when I have the newly reinforced internal magoi circulate through my body as I already know. The only difference is the impurities found in my organs are forced directly to my mouth, causing me to puke puddles of bile and the like. Even While puking, I need to continue the meditation process or risk choking on my filth.

Blood filtering uses the newly reinforced internal magoi and purified magoi particles to purify my blood stream. According to Uncle Yuriy, every blood cell is like a mage core. They house elemental magoi and radiate powerful energy which helps one withstand higher magoi densities. As I refine my blood, my bloodline radiation will grow; however, since I have not fully completed bloodline inheritance nor am I a higher stage powerhouse, I will not notice much of a change within my blood.

Bone Reforging is exactly that, the breaking down and rebuilding of my bone structure. The process hurts like a mothafucker, and I need to remain aware of what’s going on in my body at all times. In this stage, my marrow, cartilage, and other bone fibers are flooded with magoi causing them to rapidly expand, contract, decay and produce more healthy marrow, cartilage, and bone fibers. The dead and decaying marrow, cartilage and bone fibers are then squeezed out of my body like a sponge.

Soul grounding is the only stage I have no clue what actually happens. According to uncle, my souls is refined by magoi as my body undergoes the distinct stages of refinement. As A result, my soul becomes more tangible and allows for me to communicate with the elements almost as if I was a spirit given flesh, whatever all that means.

Finally, Impurity expulsion is when I expel the now putrid and rancid purified magoi, taking with it all the impurities I do not puke out, causing a thick grime to appear on my skin. I then commence the meditation process again from stage 1 over and over again, until I no longer am puking my guts out. Yet, since I am in the inheritance realm, my physical body is not undergoing any of this refinement. So, I will have to do it all again…yippy…

By 60 Earth years in the inheritance realm, I have learned the next stage to developing my body, studying arcane arts, magic rituals, developed a higher mastery when speaking the elven language and evoking magoi with the celestial language and trained in combat with a variety of weapons. Uncle despite using a sword, had always trained with other weapons saying,

“In the heat of battle, everything is a potential weapon, not just your magic. Learn to fight like a warrior, be lithe like a rogue, fire pinpoint accurate shots like a marksman and rain death like aerial gunships. A mage should never limit themselves to one means of fighting since that will lead to their death in the swiftest of manners!”

And so, I was to train with 50 different weapons 1 Earth year at a time. During which, uncle would conjure highly advanced golems who would be my sparring partners. By the time I reached 61 Earth years in the inheritance realm, I had been forced to fight hordes of golems wielding different weapons and using different combat styles.

Since I needed no sleep, food or mental rest, all 60 years were spent in constant training with only taking a break when uncle needed to teach me theoretical concepts. By the time my Training is over, my very soul would be screaming for me to leave this place!!
