Chapter 35– Battle Preparations

Before heading back home however, we stopped by the Alchemic Craftsman’s workshop for additional components Katya may need for her three golems and bought a golem meant for pulling carriages. Although horses are cheaper, they can easily be killed unless the horse is either a magic beast or a tamed monster. No one in their right mind would ever consider taming a horse monster since, they like other monsters eat people. Also horse magic beasts seldom leave places with highly dense magoi.

After buying the golem we split up. I headed to the smithy for supplies, Ivy and Katya took the new golem named Raylof to the stable for bridle fitting and to buy a carriage. We may be a part of a noble family, but dad made it clear we were to expect no support other than an initial bag full of money. Not that I needed it with how frequently I slay cutthroat bandits.

In this world there’s only one currency, Magic coins. These coins are carved from magoi crystal which can only be obtained from the dragon continent. Although the continent is a forbidden place, dragons once every 200-sols send an envoy to evenly distribute these magoi crystals.

Now when I say distribute, I mean they fire a meteor sized magoi crystal from the dragon continent. It then evenly breaks apart and lands on every continent, even the deathly forbidden ones. This event is known as “Festival of the Magic Moon Shower”. The next occurrence is in 25 sols, and I hope I get the chance to see it.

I digress, Magic coins all share the same value no matter where you are in Ohmdorra. Compared to the US dollar, 1mc is worth $1,000 USD. There were even countries across Ohmdorra who tried to create paper currency. Only to swiftly forsake the idea as no major organization would ever accept said currency as payment. Failing to create a stable and acceptable currency, those nations either fell to ruin, or went back to using Magic coins.

Anyhow, we met at the town’s entrance after an hour and a half with all the supplies we could find in town and headed home. Our trip back home taken 10 minutes by carriage given no bandits or monster were brave enough to court death…sigh. Once home, I headed straight to the forge, Katya went to her workshop and Ivy took a dip in the bath. First. I performed routine maintenance on our equipment. Ever since Ivy started using the scorpion whip 21 days ago, I have been searching for ways to improve the mechanical parts’ durability. Golden ire is indeed great for the initial machine components, but with how she uses the thing, I had needed to replace these parts every day.

So, 11 days ago I had been testing out using necron platinum as a replacement for the machine parts. At first, 5 days ago I used a mixture of golden ire and necron platinum parts so Ivy could adjust to the changes. Now, I will replace all of the remaining golden ire with necron platinum. In addition, I had decided to replace the blade with luminian silver so she can lower the amount of magoi needed to infuse into the weapon with hopes of increasing the maneuverability when in whip form and overall piercing power regardless of the form the weapon’s in.

Next, I started working on my latest project. Even since I fought dad last night, I had been wanting to see if I could create a weapon which didn’t need me to evoke pyrosaber. Today’s fight with the dumb wyvern also gave me the same feeling. Even Cavilhaugh’s “Sabotage Formula” gave me an idea I never considered. With pyrosaber as the evocation crest, and a few other key parts in the formation, I created an inscription which would hopefully allow me to use a sword made of highly dense magoi converted into a stable weaponized beam of plasma.

The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

First, I needed to create 4 compartments inside of the hilt made from necron platinum, luminian silver and orichalcum to house all of the parts. Next, I needed to cut and shape a neutral magoi crystal into multiple convex lenses with a specialized inscription on each lens. All of the smaller mechanical parts were made solely of necron platinum. Lastly, I made 8 small metal sheets of which 3 were luminian silver and 5 were necron platinum. All the sheet had the same dimensions and will act as circuit boards I named “Formation Boards”.

The idea I finally decided on was to create a multi-layered formation with each sheet containing a portion of the formation and align them in the order of activation before compressing them together. A heavily inscribed, highly magoi dense magoi crystal was used as an energy source and placed below the compacted formation boards.

Instead of using a switch like Ivy’s scorpion whip, I would use an emitter button and infuse my internal magoi into the magoi crystal power source. When I provide enough magoi and press the emitter button, the crystal would then send a focused amount of magoi to the compact formation boards. Once activated, the formation boards would auto evoke the spell and channel it through the convex crystal lenses, creating the plasmasaber blade.

Despite all the delicate work, my experiment was complete after 14 hours of trial and error. I left the forge and went to the training field for a test run. After preparing myself, I infused magoi into the magoi crystal and pushed the emitter button. What appeared was a meter long plasmic beam grey in color. I felt like a child whose dream had come true! I tested whether or not I could change the beam’s thickness, length, and color.

I also attempted to add additional effects by evoking spells like pyrosaber. 1 sol ago I created elemental variations of pyrosaber, each spell adding to my first self-created arcane art, “Elemental Saber arts”. However, the results just could compare to the feeling of burning through flesh as you slice it. It is an ethereal feeling, and most definitely intoxicating since I would spend hours hunting monsters and bandits alike like an addict searching for his next fix.

With all the trial and error creating the Elemental Saber arcane art and mastering it, I technically have entered the initial Journeyman stage. I say this as I am not actually following the commonly chosen paths to power. I guess since I am pursuing a path that combines magic and swordplay while crafting all my gear and spells, I will use a system which combine chivalric rankings with that of the world of magic.

Therefore, I will from now on consider myself a Mana Bladesman, and my path is the Way of the Arcane Warrior! However… I can’t yet truly take on the mantle unless I awaken aura so technically… I am an Arcane Esquire for now. Anyway, with my magoi plasmasaber, I have a new weapon to master. Not to forget Uncle Yuriy’s sword has served me well, just… it was not meant for me, but him. I need to step out of his shadow if I genuinely want to pioneer a new way of power!

With my new weapon, the plasmasaber in hand, I needed to combat test it. Luck for me, there is a never-ending sea of bandits who are more than happy to be slaughtered and their corpses looted by me, hehehe. Not wasting any time, I dashed through the wood in search of difficult prey for the combat test. I spent about 3 hours hunting bandits, monsters, and other nocturnal predators in order to test out the performance capabilities of the weapon, and whether or not I can use my Elemental Saber arcane arts with this weapon.

After all my killing, I went back to the forge and made additional modifications to the weapon. Satisfied with my work, I headed to the open-air bath to clean myself off, only to meet a nude and seductive Ivy waiting for me in the changing cabin. Like after every hunting session, my c*** was so hard it hurt like a motherfucker, and I needed some help “relieving” the pain. I immediately stripped off my clothes as if they had disintegrated and prepared for a different kind of “combat” test…
