Chapter 8.1

‘What the hell is going on? I’m not their king, hell, I still haven’t figured out all this out yet.’

Without even blinking an eye at the surrounding Damien began to be lost in thought. ‘Adrian Miller, a high schooler? Yeah, this was his first year attending. He was in a car crash with four other people, and ended up in the hospital. There, he learned a little about my life, and gain a part of my memories. I see… he thought that everything that happened didn’t really happen. From there, his body started changing. He was hallucinating, maybe a trauma caused by what happened in the hospital? He thought that what happened in the memories would become real. Without knowing, he made it real. Even though it was in his head, what he felt, what he saw, all felt real. That kid thought that he would end up in the hospital again if he died. Thinking if he died, just like what happened in the memories, would happen again. He would end up in the hospital and everything would be alright, however this time it wasn’t a dream. He was actually living.

After arriving in that space with Veronica, he was confused. Was what he saw a dream, or was it real? It wasn’t real, but it wasn’t a dream either. The proof was that Veronica was in front of him. He couldn’t wrap his head around it, he wanted to ask her what was going on. He was losing himself, and he knew it.

She must have sped up the process of him changing. No, she must have sped time up instead. But why change into me? If he was changing, he should only have my memories and still be in control of this body. However, that is not the case. Adrian isn’t here, I am. He also isn’t in control of this body, I am. Instead of him having my memories, I have his.

I.. don’t understand. It’s like he vanished from this world, and I replaced him.

Impossible! Rebirth? No, it’s more like we were switched somehow. I don’t understand it, but, but we were switched.

Think Damien, think. The possibility for rebirth isn’t high, and a being who can even use the word rebirth must be high. A power that can only be used by a being classified as a god.

Everit! His logic doesn’t make sense! Why would he want the revival of Zome? Why would he want me revived? Special bloodline? Even if that is the case, there had to have been a way to get my bloodline without reviving me.

Ugh, why can’t I think of a logical explanation for this? What Veronica told me, I think forty percent of it had to have been a lie, but why? Maybe Everit doesn’t want me to know his real plan. Why? Is Everit afraid of being rejected?

Still, if Everit is a god, then he could bend me to his will. She did say he had to pay a cost to revive me, but what was it? I need to find out, I won’t fall for his plan. Things will not go his way.’

Damien had questions that needed to be answered, but he knew that he wouldn’t get them anytime soon. What he needed right now was power and authority. He needed to build a safe haven for himself while he could gather the information that he lacked.

If he wanted to survive on planet Zome, he needed knowledge. This is a second chance, and it couldn’t be wasted.

If everyone he knew had died, then that could only mean that the time period he was currently in was further ahead than his own. Veronica told him that ability didn’t change, but he couldn’t be certain of that. He needed to know other things about abilities, as well as the current state of the world.

He could only shake his head and laugh. Everit was smart, he only gave him a limited amount of time. With that time, he could only accomplish very little.

By giving Damien three years, it gave him enough time to gather strength and gain information about the currently worldly affairs. However it also kept him on a short enough leash that he wouldn’t be able to figure out enough about Everit himself.

‘Smart Bastard.’ Was the only thing Damien could think of at that moment.

Sighing, Damien took in his surroundings. His gaze was met by a crowd of people. Naturally they looked just like him, only a few things were different. They lacked the same features he had, such as a horn. Their skin color was also a lighter than his own, and their tails were fairly shorter.

However, Damien could easily tell that this town was poor. The clothes they were wearing wasn’t made of fine silk.

In his vision, he could still see a blue box hovering about. No one else seemed to notice this, so he thought it was special. ‘Is this the gift?’ He asked himself remembering what Veronica told him.

“Daddy, i’ve never seen a noble before. Look, he has five horns, you think i’ll grow some?” A childish voice could be heard in the background.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

‘This gift, i’ll accept it.’ He said as he accepted the approval of this town.

Although the town itself wasn’t luxurious, it was a good starting point. He could slowly upgrade it and build up his forces. Slowly spread his rule to other neighboring towns.

As he said he would accept it, he noticed that the crowd of people opened a small gap to let another person through. Although this person had short gray hair, Damien could tell at a glance he had some sort of ability. He didn’t know what it was, but it was his gut telling him to beware of this guy.

In front of Damien, this guy was around six two in height, while Damien was around six six.

‘Who is he?’

The guy kneeled down in front of Damien, and crossed his hand on his heart. “Noble sir, if you would do the honor of being the Mayor of our town. With your presence here, we would surely shine above the neighboring towns.” As he spoke, he was careful with his words, making sure not to cross the line.

He was nothing but a small time Mayor who got lucky enough to find an ability. Just having an ability made you special, but out here, it only gave you the title of Mayor. He was the current Mayor of Advert town, but seeing such a noble person in front of him, he just felt the urge to give the town to him.

He didn’t have this thought until a moment ago, but no matter what, this was the right decision.

“I accept.” Damien finally spoke for the first time. His voice was cold, but maybe that was just by nature. He didn’t look down on these people because truth be told, he use to be one of them.

The crowd was bewildered, they couldn’t hold back their joy. They cheered, while some men took this chance to confess their love for their loved one. In the spur of the moment, the women accepted. Was it by their own will, or was it just because of the excitement. Whatever it was, they got lucky.

Just being given the chance again meant starting fresh. Given the chance to rule over a small town meant he could slowly gain power.

At this moment, Damien’s only goal was to spread his power and authority while finding out more about this world. He had things he needed to know, but no one to tell him.

With the way he looked, he could easily be able to take up residence in a major city, however that would require money. Also that would mean he would be under the rule of the current King, which he didn’t want.

He had goals before he got revived, but for now he had something else in mind.

As Damien gazed at the screen, he felt like coughing up blood. This was pitiful, he expected it to be slightly better. ‘Did I make a mistake?’
