Chapter 5.1
The group continued to travel, but this time it was silent. No one was talking, not even the guard or Adrian. It gave this feeling as if something could happen any moment, which made them all become alert.
If he never got the news that his mother would be made into a sex slave, then his mood wouldn’t have plummeted like it did. At this moment, he didn’t feel like talking.
So far, he hasn’t had much of a goal besides wanting to kill Everit, but how could he do that when he didn’t even know where Everit was located? Hell, he didn’t even know the strength of Everit. He put that goal aside for now, his mother's life and well-being took priority over Everit. He wouldn’t trade her for anyone.
I bet you would feel that same. Could you imagine the feeling you would get if you knew at this moment your mother was being fucked by someone you don’t even know. Not only was it someone you didn’t know, it was more than likely a whole different race as well. It wasn’t like she willingly went along, it was forced. Just thinking about it would make a person go insane, especially the child of the mother.
No one wanted that for their mother, especially Adrian. If he could, he would give the world to her, but he knew what she really wanted. However he could never give that to her, no matter how much he tried. Bringing back the dead was something impossible for him or anyone in the world.
They continued on the road for another hour or two before Adrian finally caught sight of a giant wall surrounding a town. The walls were black, and there were towers on top of it. He never expected to see such a sight, he was actually expecting to find a small town instead. If this was a novel situation and he was the main character, he expected he would at least start out in a low ranking town. However it wasn’t a low level town, instead it was a high level one!
On his face Adrian appeared to be calm, but inside his heart was beating faster. Truly this town even from afar looked spectacular. Nothing could compare to it in the world that he knew.
The sun was setting down, so it was already getting close to night. Adrian didn’t know much about this new world, so he already knew he had to find some way to gain knowledge. If he didn’t, then he would be easily exposed. Didn’t matter if he looked like a noble, if he didn’t have the knowledge of one then that would make everyone suspicious.
The entrance to the two was guarded by four men wearing black armor with a symbol that looked like a flower on their chest. It was easy to make out because the flower was purple. Each of the guards had a lighter skin color than Adrian himself, but they still looked like him minus the horns.
Adrian felt weird having a tail at first, but now he didn’t even feel it. If he didn’t remember he had one, he would actually forget he had one. It just felt natural to be there and it didn’t bother him much. Even controlling the skinny tail felt purely natural to him.
Soon the carriage approached the entrance and one of the guards approached.
“Identification.” His voice was respectful. He didn’t know who or what was in the carriage, but just from the sight he could tell that these people were someone highly important so it was best to show them respect.
Every guard around the carriage started chanting something and a piece of paper appeared in their hands. The showed the guard and he nodded his head, then he looked at Adrian.
“Identification.” Although Adrian was wearing some common clothes, he still had horns so he had to show him respect. There was no way a low ranking guard like him could know every single noble in the world, hell it was impossible for a king to know all the nobles. This was his first time that he had seen Adrian around though, but he didn't give it too much thought since he had to be a noble.
“Sorry man, don’t have one.” Adrian calmly replied.
“What?”
“Surely you jest. Once you are born you are required to have an identification, for someone such as yourself i’ll ask you again, identification.” The guard told him.
He didn't know why Adrian wanted to make things hard for him. He was just a lowly guard who worked the gates, so why would a noble man such as Adrian try to make his life even harder. He didn’t want to push Adrian because he didn’t know how much power he had, and he didn’t feel like finding out unless he needed to.
Truly the guard already knew that Adrian probably already had an ability. There wasn’t even a need to guess it, every noble had an ability. It was like they were born with it or something, but that wasn’t the case at all. Instead their parents brought them an ability gem once they reached a certain age.
Ability gems sold for tons, surely more than his whole life is worth. Even a low grade ability gem was expensive, and only high ranking kingdom knights would be awarded one upon a great achievement.
‘Fucking nobles have it easy.’ He thought as he snorted and stared at Adrian waiting for him to take out his identification.
“Don’t have one. I just told you that, if you want it go chase that girl who took my clothes.” Adrian told him.
The guard Adrian talked to before started laughing as he looked at the other guards and nodded his head. The guards took out their swords and took a stance while surrounding Adrian.
“You are still sticking with that ridiculously story? My god, how much of a fool are you?”
Adrian raised his eyebrow a little. He could feel the killing intent being released by the guard, and it was directed at him.
“A woman took your clothes? Pitiful. I had my suspicions when you came out of the forest naked, then you spouted such nonsense. I let you live a little longer just to be certain, but now i’m a hundred percent certain. Not having an identification is basically saying you don’t exist.” The guard took out his long sword and pointed it at Adrian. “Now, who are you?”
“Maybe you are a spy sent by one of the other kingdoms, but even then you would still have an identification. Even if they had to forge you a fake one, you would still have one. But you, you don’t have one at all! Tell me, were you following us to gain something? Gold? Jewels? What?” His voice was cold enough to freeze steel.
Sighing, Adrian thought to himself, ‘I have no one to count on, my father is dead, and my mother has been sold as a sex slave. In this world, I have no identity for myself. Nice guys finish last? Hell, a nice guy is about to die right now! Fuck, I tried, I really did. Being nice gets you nowhere. This world, it seems like those who have power rule. To save my mother, to kill him, I need to have power.’

Adrian glared at the guard as if he was about to stab him in his neck. ‘The power to oppress others, the power to rule. You think you will kill me here? No, before I save my mother I will not let myself fall here! If I must kill a thousand to save one, I will. This is only the beginning, I can’t have it end now.’
“What, cat got your tongue? Fine, don’t talk, die in silence!” The guard yelled out as he lunged forward with his sword aimed at Adrian.
It was as if Adrian’s body disappeared and was replaced by black smoke. His sword hit nothing but air making the smoke dissipate. His eyes seemed to pop out of his head, this was something that he would never expect. “I-impossible…”
Right before the guard even made a move, Adrian heard something in his head. It was like an alarm went off telling him that the Day was over and his Night skills could now be used. He only had one night skill, and that was [Stealth].
This was way better than any type of stealth in a game. Nothing could match this feeling. It was like his whole existence faded into the shadows. He could no longer see the red dots around him, or feel his surrounding like [Mapping] did, but this was a hundred times better.
Once [Stealth] was activated, he only dodged to the side making the guard completely miss his attack. Adrian knew he had two options, he could either run away or stand his ground here.
What would running away do? It would only make him more suspicious, he wouldn’t get all the answers he wanted if he ran away. Besides, where would he run to? He had no home anymore. Naturally the only option was for him to stand his ground here, and take that second step in his life.
Adrian wasn’t one who liked killing, but if it was absolutely necessary, he would kill. If it meant his survival, he would do it in a heartbeat. This type of situation was one where killing could be avoided, but these guards tried to kill him. He could not let this go.
Adrian grabbed the guard's hand wielding the sword and twisted it, while he pulled him forward and gave him a kick in his head. This wasn’t a game where these guys were considered NPC’s, with levels. Even if he had skills and an ability, he couldn’t check his stats. He didn’t know what type of strength he truly had, but soon, he would find out.
The guard was sent flying as he dropped the sword on the ground. He crashed into another guard, making them both fall on the ground.
“What the?”
“What’s going on?”
“He had an Ability! Be careful, we don’t know what type it is. It could be an invisibility type.”
The guards went back to back, each watching out for each other.
Adrian grabbed the sword on the ground, but soon the appearance of the sword also disappeared in front of the guards. To them it was as if it also turned invisible, but to Adrian it looked like it was still in his hand. His surroundings didn’t change at all, everything seemed the same to him. However to others, he had completely disappeared. It just so happens that what ever he holds also disappears as well.
He held the sword in his hand, the weight was different than what he thought it would be. It was actually light, almost as if a stick was in his hand. ‘A sword shouldn't be this light, should it?’
His grip tightened, as he dashed forward towards the guards with the sword in hand.
“Look! That shadow, it’s coming closer.” A guard spoke.
“It has to be him, I guess his invisibility isn't that perfect. Once he moves, he is actually able to be seen slightly. Makes things easier for us.”
The guards got the courage upon hearing his words. It’s true, they can see Adrian’s figure, even if it only seems like a shadow, they can still see it. His skill wasn’t perfect, it was flawed. If it was truly invisibility, the wouldn’t see him even if he walked around. He would easily be able to kill them all, but now they had a fighting chance.
As Adrian got closer, a guard swung his sword at him in a downward motion. Adrian side stepped and stopped moving.
‘Damn, that was close. I guess I can’t move around too much in [Stealth] or else i’ll give away my position. This… will be tricky.’
“Huh? Where did he go? I can’t see his shadow anymore.” The guard was confused. At first he noticed the shadow, now it was completely gone.
Adrian was already close to the guard, but the guard didn’t sense him at all. Raising his sword, he lunged at the guard as the swords tip was aimed at his throat. It pierced the guard's throat as deep red blood leaked down the blade.
‘Red huh, thought it would be black.’ Adrian thought to himself as he quickly pulled the sword out and blood sprayed as it left the man's body.
“Good, good. Callous, decisive, strong willed, you are indeed my son. Much better than the other three who inherited my bloodline.” A voice all too familiar to him appeared in his head. The last time he heard this voice was in the hospital, but that was a dream, wasn’t it? No, it wasn’t, the evidence is right here, that voice was real.
‘I am not your fucking son!’ Adrian responded in rage, as he swung the sword at the confused guard who was standing behind the one he just killed.
“Good, that rage is what makes you strong, never forget that. Those types that like to hesitate are the ones who die, don’t be that type. Kill those that oppose you.”
‘Stop talking to me, I’m not your son!’
“You are! Look at yourself, you have the same qualities as me, and the makings of a true king. If you want to save that ‘mother’ of yours, you’ll become the king that once ruled over the Xylan. The only way to do that is to fight for my throne, but with your current power, you can’t even take over a small city let alone my throne.”
