Chapter 176

"Okay, sweetheart, close your eyes," Drew said from the driver's seat. I did as he asked, squeezing my eyes closed and fighting the urge to peek. Jake sensed my struggle because he leaned over my seat and covered my eyes.

"Thank you, Jakey," I said, and he kissed the top of my head in response.

A few minutes later, I felt the car slow down and come to a stop. "Can I look now, please?" I begged, wiggling in my seat with excitement.

"Just another minute or two, baby girl," Josh promised. I heard the doors around me opening and closing, but Jake still sat behind me, covering my eyes. I listened to the back of the car lift and the guys murmuring before the sound of the hatch closing. Finally, after what felt like forever, my door opened.

"Keep your eyes closed, Em," Mike said as Jake moved his hands away from my head, and Mike scooped me up. As he walked, I buried my face in his neck so I wouldn't be tempted to open my eyes. It felt like we were climbing some stairs, and a moment later, he was setting me on my feet, arms wrapped around my waist to keep me steady.noveldrama

"Now, can I look?"

"Yes," all the guys said at once, and I opened my eyes. I was standing in the cabin of a private plane, and the guys crowded around me.

"Are we going somewhere?" I guessed.

"Yes, but where is still a surprise," Drew said. I threw myself at them, trying to hug them all at once.

"I'm so excited. When do we leave?"

"Just as soon as we are all seated, let's buckle you in," Josh said, taking my hand and leading me to a seat. I sat down with Josh and Mike on either side of me. Drew stopped next to me and handed over my pill and a bottle of water before taking his own seat. In no time, we were in the air, but I still had no idea where we were going.

The flight was uneventful, and when it was finally announced that we would be landing soon and taking our seats, I immediately began asking Mike and Josh if they would tell me where we were going. Both of them just grinned at me, refusing to let even a hint drop. As we exited the plane, I spotted an SUV waiting for us with Colorado plates.

"Why are we in Colorado?" I asked, looking back at the guys. None of them answered. They just led me to the waiting car and helped me in. Once our luggage was loaded and everyone was in, I tried again. "Are we going to go skiing? So that you know, I have never done anything like that before."

"Not this time, but if you want to learn, we can always come back another time," Jake promised. Then he kissed me, and I let them have their secrets.

In less than an hour, we pulled up a long driveway and stopped in front of an enormous cabin. It looked like something out of a fairytale. Even though it was enormous, the cabin still managed to look inviting. It was built out of natural logs, and a large porch wrapped around the front of it. The porch was big enough to protect you from the worst of the snow, and I could easily picture us sitting on the porch wrapped in blankets with hot drinks while we watched the snow. The house was at least three stories and had massive windows in the front that I'm sure made the most of the view. It was set in a clearing, but all I could see were trees; no other houses were in sight, and I loved the privacy it offered. I would love to see this place in the summer. I bet it would be beautiful there as well. While I had been admiring the cabin, the guys had unloaded our luggage and got out of the car to help. I was glad Josh had insisted I put on the warm boots he had handed me before we arrived when my feet sunk into the snow. It had been snowing for almost half an hour, and I wanted to hurry and get inside to explore.

When Patrick opened the door for me, I could only stare. The front door opened into a massive open space. A large kitchen with natural wood cabinets was at the back of the cabin. Along the back wall were large glass doors that looked like they opened onto a back porch almost as big as the one at the front. I hoped there was a hot tub out there. A large table big enough to fit all of us plus guests was on the other side of the doors. To the right of the front door was the family room with a massive sectional and a huge TV with game consoles. Several large armchairs faced the front windows, giving a fantastic view of the snow-covered forest outside. An air hockey table was next to a wide staircase that led up to the second floor and, I guess, the bedrooms.

"This is amazing," I said, spinning to grin at the guys as they dumped the bags by the stairs.

"Come here, sweetheart," Drew said. He grabbed my hand and led me over to the stairs. He pressed on a section of the wall and a door swung open. It blended into the wall so well that I hadn't noticed it.

"This is so cool," I mutter, and Drew chuckles.

The door led to a wide hallway, and Drew pointed out each door, telling me what was behind each one. The first door on the left is for extra food storage because we get snowed in. There is also a backup generator that you can access through there. Next is the gym and sauna. That one is the library. I'm not sure how good it is; I haven't checked it out since we bought it." He chuckled.

I giggled, excited to have a library to cozy up in. Then, what he had just said registered, and I turned to gape at him in shock.

"You bought this place?" I squeaked, and he turned back to face me.

"Yeah, sweetheart, the guys and I own this place equally."

"But how?" We had just bought the house outside the city, and the twins had just turned twenty-one.

"Investments. Jake is surprisingly good with money and the stock market."

"It's also a safe house," Patrick said, coming up behind us. We purchased it under a company, so none of our names are linked to this place. If we ever need somewhere to lay low or just get away, this is where we will come." He looped his arms around my waist and pulled me against his chest.

Drew grinned at me, and I let him pull me through the secret door and back into the main part of the house. The guys were in the kitchen unpacking what looked like enough food to fill a small grocery store, and I went to help. When Jake came in, I stopped what I was doing and went to him, covering his lips with mine and nipping his bottom lip. He growled and held me tighter as his tongue slid against mine. I pulled back and smiled at him.

"I'm impressed, Jake," I told him and grinned as he blushed.

"Okay, you two, come help." Mike chuckled.

Jake reluctantly let go of me, and we went to help. There wasn't much left to put away, so we finished quickly. "What are we doing for dinner?" I asked. "I don't feel like doing anything complicated," I added. It had been a long day of travel, and the last thing I wanted to do was prepare a large, complicated dinner.

"We have it covered, love. Why don't you go upstairs and unpack? Your room is the first door on the right."

"Sounds good to me. I will be back in a little bit." I told them, heading to the pile of bags still at the bottom of the stairs. After some rummaging, I found my stuff and carried the bag upstairs, easily finding the bedroom. I entered a spacious room with a plush carpet, a giant bed, and matching bedside tables. Two doors were on the wall to the left, leading to the closet and bathroom. My favorite part of the room was the enormous window with a window seat and a fantastic view of the surrounding forest.

I set my bag on the bed and began unpacking. I had been worried at first since the guys had packed my things for this surprise trip, but they did a good job of bringing everything I would have, and in no time, I was done. I noticed that it had gotten really quiet, and the space was darker than when I had gone upstairs." Guys? What's going on?" I called as I slowed my descent and looked around for them.

Not seeing any of them, I went the rest of the way down and turned toward the kitchen. The kitchen was dark, but the dining table was alight with candles, and I gasped as I moved closer. "Okay, guys, what's going on? Did the power go out, and I didn't notice?"

"No, nothing like that, love," Patrick said from behind me, and I spun to face him. All of my guys were standing in a row, watching me. "We didn't want to wait any longer and thought this would be a good way to begin the new year," he continued. Then, to my surprise, all five of them were down on one knee, each holding a small black box.

I gasped as Jake started. "Sweetheart, I knew I loved you the first time I saw you in that hospital bed."

"You are the strongest and bravest person I have ever known. You never give up, and I love that about you," Josh said.

"I knew you would be part of this family the first time I talked to you on that video chat." Mike continued.

"With everything you have been through, your love and compassion still shine," Drew added.

"Emmy, what we are trying to say is... Would you marry us?" Patrick finished.

I ran to them with a shaking voice and tears filling my eyes. "Yes, yes, yes."
