Upon returning to the Five-Colored Dragon Fortress, Muria immediately began taking out books from his spatial ring and delving into reading. Muria didn't particularly dislike the idea of studying through reading.
His robust physique and abundant energy nourished his mind, elevating his intelligence to an unimaginable level for ordinary beings. The most obvious manifestation was Muria's greatly enhanced memory, reaching the point of photographic memory.
In addition, there were other more subtle manifestations, such as improved comprehension and calculation abilities. With all these, learning became a very enjoyable activity for Muria, and the increase in knowledge gave him a sense of satisfaction.
Staying up day and night, Muria spent three days studying the basics of magic formations. After that, he had a basic understanding of the field he wanted to delve into.
Magic formations were a vast and complex subject. Simply categorized by elemental attributes, there were six basic categories: earth, water, wind, fire, light, and dark. In addition to these, there were formations utilizing special attribute forces such as thunder and void.
Classified by the function of the formations, there were attack, defense, support, and sealing types, among others.
However, these were just single formations. The most commonly used, or practical, formations were compound formations, which combined both attack and defense capabilities, or could launch attacks with four different elements simultaneously.
With this, the classification of formations became even broader, describing them as diverse and varied. Moreover, each race with magical abilities had its own interpretations of formations, further complicating the study of formations.
So, generally speaking, it was best to specialize in one type of formation. However, for the short-lived humans, this was the case. For Muria, it didn't matter which type of formation he studied since he had plenty of time.
But for now, Muria had to make a choice. He wanted to specialize in which type of formation, as he planned to customize incubation formations for each dragon egg.
"Elemental type, auxiliary class," Muria made his choice. This was still a very broad category, but Muria didn't have any more refined options.
Time passed as Muria immersed himself in his studies. His understanding of magic formations and his ability to deploy them improved every day. As a result, his room was filled daily with tons of materials for formations brought by female cloud giants, along with a lot of garbage generated from practicing formations.
By consuming large amounts of materials to quickly improve his practical formation skills, Muria was not using this learning method for the first time. It was straightforward but effective. Muria once jokingly referred to it as "pay-to-win learning" to his personal maid, Mia.
While Muria was happily studying, a storm giant guarding the Dragon Fortress arrived at Muria's study room with two cloud giant leaders. Everywhere in the room, there were abandoned formations—pentagrams, hexagrams, and even heptagrams, some of which still flickered with faint elemental light.
"Your Highness!" The storm giant approached cautiously with the two cloud giant leaders, avoiding the formations scattered on the ground and the books strewn about. They finally reached Muria, who was busy drawing a pentagram formation, before speaking.
"What's the matter?" Muria lifted his head with a pleasant expression, having just completed a formation.
Muria looked at the three giants in front of him, then turned his gaze to the two giant leaders. "I remember you two are not stationed inside the fortress. You are in charge of managing the cloud giants outside the fortress. What are you here for?"
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
"Your Highness, we have come to seek your approval for some matters." The cloud giant leader saw Muria's pleased expression and relaxed a lot.
"Seek my approval?" Muria paused for a moment, then realized that he was no longer the powerless ordinary person he was in his past life. He now had nearly ten thousand giants following him.
"Your Highness, shortly after you arrived at Taiji Island, cloud giants from other places started moving here, wanting to follow you. Would you be willing to accept their allegiance?"
"Well, I see." After listening, Muria pondered for only three seconds before speaking, "I accept the allegiance of all giants willing to serve me. You can proceed with their integration."
Upon hearing Muria's words, the two cloud giant leaders exchanged gloomy looks before speaking again, "Your Highness, ten days ago, an entire tribe of mist giants migrated to Taiji Island. Their tribe leader has been wanting to meet you, but we were afraid of disturbing you, so we didn't dare to report it."
"Mist giants, aren't they closely related to you cloud giants? Does their leader want to meet me?" Muria frowned, then looked teasingly at the two cloud giant leaders, "You've been stalling, why the sudden change?"
The two cloud giant leaders fell silent with embarrassment. They naturally felt uncomfortable with Muria's acceptance of all giants' allegiance, as it diminished their chances of being close to him, given the large number of giants on the island. So, guided by certain emotions, they chose to delay or even conceal matters.
"Speak up. I want to know how many giants have come to my island recently." Muria said with a smile, tapping his fingers lightly on the wooden table in front of him.
"Tidal giants, storm giants, mountain giants, many of these giants have also arrived." One of the cloud giant leaders cautiously observed Muria's expression and reported in a low voice.
"How many?"
"We didn't count!"
"I see!" Muria took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, suppressing the anger rising in his heart.
Muria remained silent for a while, making the kneeling giant leaders more and more uneasy. The storm giant who brought them in had already retreated unnoticed. Shortly after, he returned with nine storm giants, glaring at the kneeling cloud giant leaders.
"I remember there's no stable food source on Taiji Island, right? Most of the food for the thousands of giants comes from the nagas, merfolk, and other sea creatures, right?"
The two cloud giant leaders sweated more under the intense pressure from the storm giants. Muria's unexpected question relieved them slightly.
"Yes, Your Highness. Although there are many prey on the Titan Islands, it's not enough for the numerous giants. Also, we dare not venture too far into the Titan Islands, so our main food source is the fish brought by the sea tribes."
"That won't do. We must solve the food problem on the island and not rely entirely on the sea tribes' support." Muria said solemnly, "If the sea tribes stop driving fish to us, won't most of the giants starve? So, I'm giving you a difficult but important task."
"Your Highness." The two giant leaders knelt on the ground, sweating profusely. They had a very bad premonition at this point.
The assumption that the sea tribes would stop driving fish to feed the giants was ridiculous. As long as Muria wished, those sea tribes would continue to provide him with food.
"Go, bring me the sandbox of Taiji Island." Muria commanded. Two storm giants walked out of the room and soon brought in a huge sandbox.
In the center of the sandbox was Taiji Island, situated between a circle and an octagon. However, the sandbox depicted more than just Taiji Island; it included all the islands within a radius of nearly a hundred kilometers from Taiji Island.
Muria walked to the side of the sandbox and looked at the tightly packed models of numerous islands. A smile appeared on his face. "You storm giants did a good job."
"It's our honor to serve you." The storm giants replied humbly. These days, the storm giants had been exploring the environment around Taiji Island.
"Both of you, come over here." Muria beckoned the two cloud giant leaders. When they reluctantly got up and approached the sandbox, Muria pointed to eight irregularly shaped islands surrounding Taiji Island, one for each of them.
"These eight islands, each of you will choose one."
Upon hearing Muria's words, the two cloud giant leaders hesitated for a moment before each selecting an island. Then, they nervously looked at Muria, knowing what was about to happen but still holding onto a last bit of hope.
"Very well. After you leave, take your cloud giants and start cultivating on the islands you've chosen. Clear out all useless trees on the islands and plant fruit trees and bushes that can produce berries.
Furthermore, you need to search for low-level monsters on the Titan Islands that can be tamed and mass-farmed as food sources for the giants on the islands. The scale of taming must be expanded to provide enough meat daily to meet the normal needs of all giants on the islands."
After saying this, Muria squinted his eyes, smiling as he looked at the two cloud giant leaders whose bodies were already trembling slightly.
"Your Highness, we..."
"Do you accept this task?" Muria smiled, looking very easygoing. But his tone was anything but gentle.
"We accept." Under Muria's coercion, the two cloud giant leaders reluctantly chose to accept. The consequences of refusing were unclear.
"Then, off you go!" Muria said cheerfully. "By the way, when you achieve what I asked for, that's when you can come back. Otherwise, you're not allowed to step foot on Taiji Island."
The two cloud giant leaders stumbled as they walked to the door, then bowed and replied, "Yes." Finally, they left silently. They understood that this was the price they had to pay.
"Foolhardy." After watching the two cloud giant leaders leave, Muria's smile disappeared, his face becoming expressionless.
Muria could understand the reasons behind the cloud giant leaders' delay or obstruction of some new giants wanting to meet him. With so many giants on the island and Muria's young age, his Titan bloodline could only influence the closest batch of giants. As for the others, they could only watch with envy.
However, understanding was one thing, and Muria couldn't tolerate such behavior: "Do they take me for a child to be fooled? Humph! It seems I need to set some rules. Otherwise, such things will happen again."
